1. On a virus-related matter, a few minutes ago, I was listening on shortwave to the news from Radio New Zealand. A number of locations in the Pacific region were mentioned, including the Marianas, Tonga, and Vanuatu.

   Somehow, I don’t think that the Pacific Islanders are particularly worried about an all-white-cis-male panel working on dealing with the disease.

   ‘Educated’ perhaps, but she’s a fan of Bill Nye “the science guy” so how educated?

   1. How can she be a fan of Bill Nye; he’s definitely white. For my part, I care not at all about the demographic composition of the panel; I just want them competent.

6. We know how the world would look if real power fell into the hands of women. It was called the Cultural Revolution, the reign of terror of Jiang Qing, the failed actress who completely controlled Chairman Mao in his dotage, and turned Red China into a melodrama starting herself.

   1. In post-Mao China, Jiang Qing was one of the infamous Gang of Four. Being his widow didn’t help her any.

      From what I heard, Mao had his share of mistresses as well. He liked them young and dumb.
