      The USA is in grave danger of being a has been power under his stupid leadership.         Real Americans don’t care if someone is crass, or rough around the edges, or if other people thinks they are cool. We care about whether they get the job done.

        All our hospitals are well equipped. Problems with testing were due to local supplies and have been sorted out. The local and state governments are in charge for the most part. Guess who is preventing them from completely trampling our civil rights? Trump.

        Last I checked PDJT was the only one refusing to sell us out to China.

        But keep complaining about how you don’t like the way he talks. We are in the middle of a pandemic, and you sound like a child.

  7. Conventional thought is that the media is simply dominated by left of center reporters schooled in progressive education programs. I would suggest a much more sinister reality. Socialism/communism recognized long ago that their ability to defeat free enterprise would never happen. Militarily they could not compete.

    Since the ’50’s socialism/communism put more emphasis on infiltrating education, media and government to accomplish what they could not militarily. Combine that with the propaganda of disinformation so prevalent on social media and this has been a winning strategy. Trump has challenged the media for their ‘fake news’ and has had success. Unfortunately the forces arrayed against freedom are huge and the fight is being lost.

    Are these journalism professors suggesting that it is that easy to mislead the public on important matters by using mass media as a ‘as a platform for misinformation and disinformation’?
    Is that even possible?
    And if it is that easy to mislead the public then what other entities may have been using the media as a ‘as a platform for misinformation and disinformation’ on other issues such as climate change or Russian election interference?

    How would one go about misinforming the public on such a grand scale?
    Trump’s press briefings are only a few hours a week.
    Could it be done with such limited time and exposure?
    Could they be doing it themselves?

    What these geniuses don’t seem to understand is that 7,250 (or thereabouts) people die EACH DAY … in the USA hmmm … 6-weeks … x 7,250 … carry the 9 … and “Obama presided over SIX Vietnam’s every six weeks during his presidency!!!” aka 1 VietNam per week … aka “416 Vietnam’s during Obama’s presidency!!!” Ohhhhhhh mammmmmaaa …

    And who is “responsible” for the 45,000 Americans who die of … “the flu” every year? Oh! Wait! That’s short of a Vietnam’s worth of 50,000 dead … Nevermind.

    Nobody ever accused the best and the brightest of going into “journalism”.

    1. The question of “Vietnam equivalency” should be put to Cuomo. The death rate in New York is double that of Spain and almost 5 times that of Sweden. Might have something to do with Cuomo forcing nursing homes to take in Wuhan virus patients…..the modern day equivalent of small pox blanket.

      Something like 2.8 million Americans die every year. Leading causes are heart disease (almost 650K) cancer (almost 500K). Flu comes in eighth at 55.7K. This is from the CDC. So there you are, On the average, the flu everywhere is more than a Vietnam’s worth.
      Since seemingly the Wuhan Virus is blamed for the death of everyone who had been infected, whether it is the direct cause or not, I am very curious about the death rates of other diseases in the first third of this year. Has deaths due to heart disease, cancer, especially other respiratory diseases, strokes, and diabetes dropped? What about total deaths? In engineering, we would consider 57.5K (the total announced total due to Wuhan virus) in the first third of the year down to the noise level out of a total of almost a million.
      The only reasonable argument for shut down is that the Wuhan virus is apparently more virulent than ordinary flu, causing death in a much larger proportion of infections. But apparently the numerator has been greatly bloated, and the denominator greatly underestimated. (They tested every sailor on this one military vessel, and it turned out that 95% of the infections were asymptomatic. So the denominator is perhaps 20 times as large.)
      At this point, when the economy can still be salvaged, my own inclination is to end the shut down. We know who are susceptible and who are not. Let the healthy young people go back to work and play. Those of us who are susceptible can each do for himself what he thinks best. To a certain extent, I have not that much problem with self isolation until this blows over, except for church on Sundays. But I can do that without making everyone else who do not need to do the same. Of course, damn them. the Democrats want recession and deaths. For them, NYC is a great success.
      To Art, the deaths in NYC, and the greater NYC metropolitan area are worse than what you cited.
      As of four days ago, when I last updated my numbers, the death rate due to Wuhan virus was 127 per 100K in the latter. For the rest of the country, it was 8.8. If anyone is directly culpable, it is de Blasio. The NYC subway is still running, but with reduced frequency. That only makes the cars that are running even more crowded. He did not shut down until recently. There must be other reasons for that horrendous difference.

      1. I don’t go very far out of my own lovely little suburb for much, except vacations and the occasional trip to see my brand new, adorable, grandson. My lovely little suburb of 50k people has 18 total cases of Kung Flu and 0 deaths from its evil ways. That’s an infection rate of 0.0004% and a death rate of 0.0000%. I am in a high risk group … yet have NO FEAR whatsoever of contracting the dreaded Kung Flu. I’d say the odds are stacked so heavily in my favor … I wish I could take those odds to the blackjack table!! Yes … I would bet my entire retirement fund on those odds.

        But ALL the “data” we’re being forcefed … is JUNK. It is not nearly “granular” enough. It has no CONTEXT. No location context. No source of infection context. It’s JUNK data. Such as Drudge Blaring a Chart showing America has THE MOST cases of KungFlu in the entire World! Oops … but the absolute lowest per capita rate in the entire world. We are being LOCKED DOWN by fraudulent data. Lies, God Damnned Lies … and Statistics.

        This is the LAST great FAKE crisis to “get rid of Trump” … and it’s crumbling … just like every other UN-truth hurled at PDJT.

        1. That is what I am trying to do, find some context and granularity.
          There are three hot spots in the country: the greater NYC metropolitan area, southwestern largely rural Georgia, and New Orleans.
          The NYC metropolitan area data is such a spike that I don’t believe what I mentioned are sufficient to explain. I really think they must be really inflating the death rate, for whatever reason of their own. SW GA can be explained by two things, they held a Mardi Gras wherein they ran a qualifying marathon for the Boston marathon, so it was well attended from a large area, and they have also many rest homes for seniors there. And of course NOLA’s mayor went ahead with the month long celebration and wild Mardi Gras because President Trump didn’t tell her not to.
          Otherwise the U.S. data would be at the bottom of western Europe, though still above other countries. Although it is doubtful how much you can believe in stats from third world dictators, which is almost redundant.
          From everything that was available to me, I thought that the death rate per infection was much higher than usual flu, and so some control is justified. But it may not be so, if the predominant majority of infections are asymtomatic. In any case, the greatest effort ought to be on immunization, detection, and cure as soon as possible, without going through the rigamarole of “scientific double blind” experimentation and report by medical journals. Some idiot on this site still advocates the “scientific method” which “works, if slowly.” We ain’t got time for “if slowly” that means years, or even months.
          President Trump is doing it right. We have a lot of scientists in this country. Every possibility ought to be investigated. I mean, what the hack, the original quinine came from a tree bark. What stupid medieval medicine! Unfortunately, even though he puts a lot of work into the news conferences, obviously, and try to give hopeful possibilities, all the presstitude wants to do is play gotcha. I really don’t know why he bothers any more. Just establish an official site and give daily updates on the site.
          Of course, most of the progs and presstitude want a permanent shut down to cause a permanent depression, while at the same time they want dead people, not successful anti-Corona virus research. They really do, and that is why they are pure evil.
