  1. A computer can translate Chinese communist propaganda into English these days. There’s a reason the Chinese aren’t falling over themselves to buy western newspapers.

Learn to code? The Chinese already know how to do that—and many learned at western universities to boot.

    1. These MSM … places like CNN still think that they are the only sources of information … With the internet, we now have many civilian reporters on the scene everywhere giving us a man in the street view of events. This, while the CNN staff and alleged reporters enjoy their lattés in the mezzanine.

The civilian reportage is more trustworthy than the MSM’s view of new events because the ‘man in the street’ reporter is looking for truth and perhaps an spec of notoriety for the work.

  2. I saw the press conference with Trudipshiz this morning. I think the 3rd question from the peanut gallery was Are you going to bail us out again?

I’m starting to think succumbing to the virus might be a better option than sticking around for the collapse when we realize we’re broke for next several generations.

    1. In the U.S. , 23,000 people have died of “the Flu” this year, about 400 have died from Covid. Covid is still a rounding error in the overall number of people who get killed from viral infections. suspect by the time this is over that is all it ever was going to be. If the media didn’t blow it all out of proportion, nobody would even know it had happened.

    2. Nah, the politicos, Liberal and our spineless Conservatives will just keep paying for this by continuously inflating the currency and so putting the boots to those foolish enough to ‘save’ in Canadian dollars.

All your bank accounts are belong to me says Justin.

      1. Say hello to the new NORMAL, while you’re at it say Hello to our (big fat Greek type bankruptcy).
This won’t end until everything Trump, has been destroyed.

The media has an election to win… Trump must be defeated.
The hyperboly surrounding this Coronavirus is to excite maximum panic.
The globalist socialists are.. (ALL IN) ..with this end of the world Covid-19 pandemic.

The Globalists know it’s now or never, as long as a Trump type America and her Allies exist,
there will NEVER be a socialist led {ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT}.
It really is all Trumps fault!
        Thank God!

        JMHO

  3. The Media Industry was bunged up and needed a reset… The non-essential jobs once identified are like an efficiency hatchet job….Those jobs are not coming back until they can justify hiring Non-essential employees…which is Never…..leaner & meaner….Leader dogs, not shed dogs.

The Network TV Media are obsolete… They are package programmers & Individual preferred programming can be sourced directly from the Production agencies… Madison Avenue has many other options…

  4. Frankly I am amazed CNN is not dead already, I don’t know why anyone would watch that fake propaganda.

    1. CNN does 24 hours a day of straight out, over the top Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Look around and see how widespread that virus is.

      More prevalent than Kung Flu.

    2. A significant number of my Canadian family and friends count on CNN for all their information about US and world affairs. Seriously.

      1. That’s appalling. But I guess if they have no honest news sources to which to compare…. But it’s still appalling. (I’m an American who lived in Ontario for many years, and worked there even longer. But I do have Canadian friends who are absolutely convinced they know more about PDJT and what’s going on in the U.S. than I do, and it’s all negative. I’ve long since given up arguing with them.)

        1. CNN “Certainly Not News”, but when your government won t allow any news from FOX or any other network that doesn t slurp up the Crime Ministers bathwater what do you expect to get 24-7 on your government authorized bought and paid for media either print or electronic.

  5. The bail out package had money for PBS…Odd that, but maybe CNN & MSNBC are going to be shuttered & PBS will become a hipped up “Alternate View” News Channel VS. FOX… It never good to have only one opinion & Fox is dominating…..even with several Democrat Hosts… I can’t stand CNN or Hannity,, I don’t need to hear the team Chant every day….

    1. PGS

I agree. A constant diet of faux is not unlike a constant diet of cbc.

I want to know the news. Not somebody incessantly pumping the tires of Trump or trudeau. I don’t need to hear the opinions of some vacant journo. I can figure it out on my own.

  6. I’m shattered! Buzzfeed won’t be able to tell me who NOT to vote for? Buzzfeed won’t “leak” FBI stories about MY President urinating on Obama’s bed with 5-Russian Hookers? White supremacist Russian Hookers?! I’m shattered! Who will tell me how GREAT Joe Biden is … ? Who will tell me that some disgruntled former employee was just trying to get back at Joe Biden, and we shouldn’t believe “that woman”. Buzzfeed won’t tell me that SHE caller her trailer trash that could be lured with a fifty dollar bill.

    1. I think that Edward Teach’s comment above is more likely. Unless the trick is a paper bag over the head with a ball-gag underneath (so you don’t have to listen to them talk)?

  7. Millions have been laid off due to this coronavirus, many of them vital to the economy. A few hundred journalists is only of importance to other journalists.

  8. *** ALWAYS WONDERED, HOW MANY GRADUATE WITH A “JOURNALISM” DEGREE? HAVEN’T BEEN ABLE TO FIND THE NUMBERS ANYWHERE! MUST BE IN THE THOUSANDS…

    1. Probably other similar degrees even beyond artsy ones.

Worked with somebody who graduated with a degree in Meteorology. Like he said how many jobs per graduating class do you think there are? He brought in his espresso machine from a side gig. We always seemed to get great cooperation from other project sub teams 🙂

      Oceanography?

      Criminology?

    2. I spent a lot of years as a journalist (not mainstream media). But I was not trained as a journalist, i.e., in journalism school. That used to be the norm, in fact, even for reporters and editors at the big city newspapers. My background and education (and reading!) was/is much broader. I question much of what journalism schools are teaching, but an additional problem is the extremely narrow experience level, and general lack of broad reading in so many current “journalists.” Most of them know almost nothing about almost everything.

  9. Journalists. People that couldn’t handle the rigors of a degree in English. Who last time they took math was Freshman, High School( See Brian RPG Williams, his staff, and New York Times editor not able to do simple division.)
So since 99% are lefty idiots, really I should pay attention let alone pay money? Pluaheessee!

  10. They are not really needed. Maybe they could start reporting facts and not opinion online.

    1. I can deal with opinion, but if you are going to spout your opinion it has to be based on facts. Most journalists spout lies, and opinion based on those lies.

      1. Propaganda, and being told by Unifor what to say and not to say.

This while the media companies allow that behaviour to happen while their ratings go down.

We dont have news anymore, it’s very weak infotainment. Look at the lower level they are now achieving, half the “newscast” is now YouTube videos, stupid human tricks, and nothingness, surrounded by virus porn.

Oh, and for good measure, sent some hate mail to Keith Baldrey, pointing out his TDS, while he slammed Trump “of all people” for pushing the chloroquine therapy. These people are beyond stupid

    2. I think you’re assuming that they are smart enough to tell the difference between their opinions and objective facts? If so, what in their educational background would make you think that?

  11. The most prominent liberal columnist at the Philadelphian Inquirer is advocating for a bail out. I would ask him if he would accept a bail out in return for turning 50% of the paper’s control over to conservatives, but I got thrown off Twitter almost a year ago for wrongthink (“being conservative”).

    1. “…the Philadelphian Inquirer is advocating for a bail out”

Their misfortune to be born on the wrong side of the border, eh?

  12. Damn, Kate. You had my hopes up there for a second. I had big dreams that this would one day be a Canadian story, but my hopes have been dashed once again. But no, it was not to be. It is CAPITALISM cleaning up a failing industry, namely PROPAGANDA, which is selling Communism. While here in Canaduh, the PROPAGANDISTS are ALL on the taxpayers’ SOCIALIST backs. It provides for the downward spiral we all seem to find ourselves in.
Socialism killed hundreds of millions of people in the 20th Century, and apparently the 21st Century seems to be headed for a repeat of the previous centenary. If the virus doesn’t kill you, the coming economic depression certainly will.

  13. Those laid off in the U.S. media will just get hired by the propaganda arm of the LPC in Kanuckistan. Turdo is throwing lots of taxpayer money around at his media brown nosers up here.

  14. Like I told my children when they were deciding on careers after high school, do not be a urnalist, I would rather you were streetwalkers, having to lie to have a job would be the worst job you could have. Reading a script sent by secure email at 4 am from some far away puppet master is hardly rewarding. They can’t go broke fast enough.

    1. While locked in the do-loops of Service Canada this week I conjectured to wife (who so far is extremely patient with me in our quarantine. Although yesterday when I said we might need a couple of months she said, “I’d rather die from the virus”) that the people who designed that must tell their kids they work as drug dealers or pimps being too ashamed to say they work for EI.

  15. I wonder if ‘Heritage Media’ gets money from the survival fund while its employees collect money from the emergency wage support fund. Double dipping ?

  16. Kate, thanks for the good news story. But the Justin Trudeau government is bailing out our corrupt “journalists”, in return for favorable, soft-ball coverage. The Trudeau government can shut down Service Canada outlets, with nary a peep from our bought-out reporters.

  17. Why do I think I won’t qualify for any of these programs but will have the joy of paying for them until and after I die ?

    1. Think of all the comfort and joy for those cultural diversifiers you’ll be paying for. (Yeah, right.)

  18. This just isn’t true. I got messages from the 2 papers I subscribe to telling me how much better their subscriptions have increased as a result of the interest in covid19. They even said their readership/viewership is way up.

If business is suffering because of fewer advertisers. Maybe the fear they spread is a virus that is killing the advertisers that support them?

    My heart bleeds.

    1. Just what I was going to say. If supposed news sources can’t make it when millions of people are at home playing on the internet, surfing whatever news sites they wish well it ain’t the fault of the reason they are at home in the first place.

  19. Code? They can’t even do basic math. Once they are no longer sharing their hot takes with the world through the likes of Buzz Feed, they are qualified to do nothing. Nothing, that is, until the Democrats take back the a White House, then they can be senior advisors to the next president.

  20. I can’t stop laughing!
Especially the part about them learning to do anything, let alone code.

They transferred to journalism because the heavy math load in Finger Painting 101 was too much for them.

How long does it take to be trained to look at the guy waving the sign next to the black thingy with the red light on top of it and the lens in the front?
Sure, you have to know how to hold the paper with the words on it right side up, but other than that it’s fairly simple.

It’s no surprise that none of them understand how someone as dumb as Justin Trudeau has pimped out the Canadian media.

    1. Thud, someone has to do it, it is an important job unlike being a “journalist” and I am not be facetious.

      1. I’m a devious SOB and one of my first jobs was stocking shelves in a department store. I wanna see these crybabies do it.

        Thud.

  21. At the end of a long and very nerve-wracking day yesterday I tried to think of an upside to all this. One thing which gave me a smile was thinking that this has brought a stop to the endless yapping from all the deadwood and camp followers that have accumulated in the health care system like the “Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator”. Nary a peep out of them for the last three weeks — thank gawd!

  22. The headline says journalists, but the article says it’s BuzzFeed, Group Nine, and Vice. So, which is it?
