How Not to Become a Millennial: Learning from America’s Largest Sociological Disaster

Never before in the history of the world has more time, effort, and resources been invested into a single generation than the Millennials. Be it incredibly expensive college degrees, perfectly privileged diets, life-coping drugs, uncountable therapist visits, even bending reality so that everybody was impossibly a winner, no expense was spared for the most pampered generation in human history.

  1. well.
that takes the pressure of my hippie generation.
    lol !!!
    civil rights: check
    women’s rights: check
opposed the disastrously managed war in ‘Nam: check
    moon landing: check
    long hair: check
    weed: check
    Jimi Hendrix: check

not necessarily in order of priority

    1. Moon landing? C’mon that was piloted by silents, managed by the greatest generation under lost generation presidents. The 23 and under crowd got to watch. Oldest boomers were just 18 for the ’64 civil rights act.

I can’t tell if you are being ironic on purpose or not, but it’s amusing to juxtapose what the book actually says about boomers, millennials, weed and the moon landing and your comment. That said, I think it’s funny that the Silents are still fighting tooth and nail to get their first president (Sanders, Biden, Bloomberg, Pelosi) and that some of the worst mummies in the houses are silents like Pelosi. I have long thought the Silents were remarkable at producing profound greats like Armstrong and profoundly selfish and destructive people, like Biden. I also wonder if Gen X will ever have a president.

It’s possible Trump will be the Boomer parting shot at America and that is both wonderful and ironic in it’s own way. The cultural momentum post Greatest Gen, that has brought us such great things as TDS and Trannies is being fought and undone by an early Boomer (and the deplorables). He may yet get us to pull off something as great as the moon landing. May we have 8 more years! and all will be forgiven. Heh. As for the millennials, they still have a lot of runway. Let’s see how they are in the 5th term of Trump.

      1. migawd I would have given a fortune to meet Neil Armstrong in person.
the irony of it, he was such a private man. shunned the razzle dazzle, didnt write a book, none of the usual celeb stuff.
        “one small step for man”.
methinks he kept the ‘a’ OUT of ‘a man’ thru a deeply set belief in TEAMWORK, and thus refused to put the spot lite on ‘a’ man, ie himself. completely consistent with the impression I have of this great servant of the nation and humanity.
the irony there too. crikey if the whole team had HIS skill level we would have space exploration of an unimaginable degree.
I watched it all live on a smidgy B&W in my parents kitchen.

and yes, a wee bit of deliberate irony there. your post is very insightful.
unlike the ‘inciteful’ crowd we have to navigate around nowadays.
I call them the ‘narcissist generation’.

        1. There are few famous people I’d walk to the end of the driveway to see. Fewer still I’d want to dine with. Armstrong would have been an honor to meet or see.

What I remember about the greatest generation and kids is how they had a kind of universal pact. Kids were to respect elders so any adult could correct a kid and childhood was to be protected from adult issues. There were bed times, TV changed from family friendly to adult late in the evening. Adults made a point of not discussing worldly things in front of kids. I don’t know but I suspect it was a reaction to the horrors and hard child hoods of their generation. WWI and Spanish flu took their parents and the depression made them pull their weight early. My own grandfather spent time in “Mrs Lizzies orphanage & lunatic asylum”. Oh yah it gets better. The orphans were sent out to work. We only found out after he died (from his residence on the cencus). At the end of the day giving the kids the polar opposite of their childhood didn’t work either. Balance has yet to be achieved, as Gen X was left to raise its self, shielded from nothing. The millennials are living in the wreckage. Both sheltered and exposed raw. They have conversations like “I don’t know how many siblings I have”. Does step sister’s step’s step count? Who knows, they might just make it from mom mom mon and dad’s Orphanage and Lunatic Asylum to achieve something great should the opportunity present.

  2. The Millennials are the Generation born when the self-help book craze was ongoing. Cause or Co-incidence ?

  3. The Millennials are the Generation born to the Drug Generation….The Grey matter burnout is said to regenerate over Time…. They may, not all, be a waste of sperm…..

  4. Thanks to Millenial voting patterns, it is doubtful there will be a long time before there are enough resources available to dedicate to such mistakes.

  6. Individual freedom and the necessity to actually work and produce a profit that pays for your daily bread has been lost in Canada, trough lickers is all we have, the government trough is the most popular restaurant in Canada.

  7. We now see the proof.
If you want more useless and clueless, then coddle and protect them.
    Now we have success.
So many useless and clueless that civilization falls.

The question an entire generation can not answer;”How’s your work?”

  8. If the millenials were born to the boomers they were very late running pipe, I’m a last year boomer and my spawn are all called echoes

  9. Oh man this should be great reading. Who raised the millenials? Or more to the point…. Who DIDN’T raise the millennials? Oh sure let’s totally fail at any meaningful civilizational advancements and blame it on our children… hmmmmmm?
