“This is HUGE for big-time athletes who also want to serve their country”

Not related, but close enough to mention here: Rep. Jeff Van Drew, a moderate Democrat who is strongly opposed to impeaching President Donald Trump, is expected to switch parties and become a Republican

Update: Why look. They’re showing up to riot.

  1. I don’t remember any Democrats switching parties to Republicans since Ronald Reagan. Very bad optics for the Democrats particularly since this man vehemently opposed impeaching the President.

    1. JVD has been on Tucker several times through this year. He’s not just come to his senses, he’s been free thinking for some time now. So, this won’t come as a big surprise to a lot of insiders, but it nonetheless is a slap in the Demarxist’s faces.

Its also a sign of how far left the Demarxists have gone, dinosaurs like Biden think they can rescue the party, but his senility prevents sanity. Hitlery is just a craven evil animal that will continue to say anything for her own lust for power, the rest are just Marxist heathens, pure and simple.

So long as the Demarxists keep embarassing themselves, so be it. Their media shills keep re-inforcing how desperate and out of touch they are

      1. Thanks DanBC, I don’t see Tucker often, usually just snips of his show on blogs ect.
I think I meant “events of the day” = impeachment (that’s been unraveling for a long time now). Though I wasn’t aware he’d voted against this until today.

Perhaps his switch to the “this side” won’t take place until after the actual impeachment vote? If only to have a Democrat vote registered against this.
        Dunno…

        1. For optics, better for him to vote, as a Demo, against the Sham, then change teams.

Just get it to the Senate, then the real fun begins, and the Demos are on Defense instead. It seems they haven’t thought things thru very well, or, are completely arrogant and out of touch. Its not like they dont know what’s coming, so why would they expose themselves so obviously?

Something doesn’t make sense here, the Demos case is SO weak, it doesn’t compute why they would push such an obviously poor and weak excuse of a case forward. Clearly, the internal politics of the Demarxists are on display, is it just shameless pandering to t he base, to protect their own party position against more extreme candidates? Shame, shame, shame

          1. Maybe the Democrats think there are enough Republicans in the Senate who will go against the President. If so, perhaps they got that idea from a number of Republican senators who told them they will do that. And perhaps those Republican senators were telling the Democrats the truth, or perhaps they were encouraging the Democrats to make a mistake.

    2. Its not uncommon. Several Repubs crossed over to help get Obamacare passed.

And Trump himself has been both a Democrat and a Republican in the past. He’s been a Republican, an independent, a Democrat, back to Republican, back to independent, and then back to Republican.

For the vast majority of politicians, party isn’t about principles, its about ‘what can I get if I work with you’.

  2. That has always been a weakness in recruiting athletes to West Point and Annapolis. But realistically, would a megamillion dollar retired athlete really want to hump his platoon through the mountains of Afghanistan. Maybe they will promote them out of the weeds through reserve service during their playing career.

    1. The service academies are tiny. They train the future senior officers of the armed forces. They are small enough that they should be recruiting the best future generals, not the best future football players.

      1. Pat Tilman was a football player who ended his football career to become a soldier. What this rule seems to want to do, is recruit someone like Pat Tilman because he’s a good football player, then have a big time out on his military career so that he can go and play football.

  3. This district is just a few miles south of me. Deep South Jersey. Would be solidly Republican were it not for Atlantic City and large Hispanic populations in a couple other towns. Lots of farms and shore towns which are Repub areas. And then of course there’s the “Pineys” from the Pine Barrens which is like Kentucky. Lots of hunters.

  4. The NFL could get rid of ESPN & the anti-American players….sick SJW @ the NFL league office would be able to clean the streets in LA & San-Fran…. clean the houses of the over paid babies….

For Xmass every State should provide their worst Welfare malcontents a Surf Board & one-way Bus ticket to California….The State of sanctioned free Drugs & Sex….What could go wrong….Think of all those guest Houses in the gated communities with swimming pools & Barbecue’s

  5. Do they still allow trans folk in the US military?

After doing 1,000,000 push-ups and advanced hand to hand combat training, 2nd Lieutenant little was-Johnnie will cleanup female UFC.

  6. Interesting things.

I noted on a drive through upstate New York a few months ago that Trump 2020 signs were on a lot of lawns!

New Jersey’s 2nd district is largely a rural swing district and pretty marginal for the Democrats. I think Jeff Van Drew is trying to save his bacon.

Last thought allowing some patriotic athletes to turn pro might start changing the culture of the NFL.

  7. The Democrats have the support of the New York Times.

President Trump has the support of the armed forces of the United States.

How confident are the Democrats really feeling about their ability to thrust Mike Bloomberg into the White House against the will of good young men who believe in America and in a god that isn’t money?
