Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

in 4 years….Trudeau will STILL be trying to get to 1.3% what a liar….
In four years, China will dispense with Justin and let some party flunky run this country.
Cuts out the middle “man”.
That’s one of the great things about Donald Trump. He insists on straight answers to questions Deep Staters normally refuse to answer. (Alas, the President cannot be ignored the way a humble prole can.)
Why the alleged allies of the United States refuse to spend adequate amounts on their own defence is one such question.
Why the United States is not allowed to use atomic weapons to decisively win wars is another.
(Lie? Ezra gives Justin too much credit. Justin hadn’t the foggiest idea what the figure was. He leaves the numbers to someone else. Math is hard, doncha know.)
Trudeau did NOT “panick and lie” Ezra, you can clearly hear one of Trudeau’s advisors inform him that it’s 1.4% off camera, which Trudeau repeats. Ffs,when you catch the guy lying, say so, but don’t make things up.
Notice how Trump said that Canada is in good shape economically ,so should have no trouble complying? Sorry, but Trudeau didn’t do badly in this short clip.
Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan said military spending will grow 70 percent to reach CAN$32.7 billion (U.S. $24.3 billion) in a decade. That means Canada would spend about 1.4 percent of gross domestic product on defence BY 2026-2027, up from about 1.2 percent now. June 7, 2017
Trudeau lied as our current defence spending is 1.2%. Why didn’t he say 4% as he and his staff could just make up numbers to reach that percentage.
Does our expenditure include pensions, like Les Belges? It certainly doesn’t seem to include modern weapons or ships.
NATO guidelines are for each nation to spend 20% of military spending on equipment. Canada seems to have a top heavy military, and perhaps the offices are first rate too. Canada looks like it’s spending about 12% on equipment.
NATO report is here, see graph 2, Canada is in the lower left of the graph well below that green line indicating 20% of spending on equipment …
https://www.nato.int/nato_static_fl2014/assets/pdf/pdf_2019_06/20190625_PR2019-069-EN.pdf
except when he crossed his legs like that before answering
Don, you didn’t see that slap in the head? Canada is in good shape economically so should have no trouble complying?
That is like the Mafia coming into your business for a shake-down and starting with “we really love what you’ve done with the place”.
bullshit
Trudeau is a disingenuous train wreck and you’re a leftist …
Canada’s economy is a mess … nobody with half a brain invests in Canada
Kate – ban Don Morris
I think someone has hijacked Mr. Morris account… sure doesn’t read like Don Morris.
Well if NATO is a country he didn’t make a complete idiot of himself.
“didn’t do badly”
I disagree. M. Trudeau did what he always does, responding to President Trump’s first question with an attempt to baffle by bulls**t. You can bet that Trump knows exactly what our percentage is so he knew as soon as Trudeau told him 1.4 that it was a lie. It doesn’t matter that he got the number from one of his lackeys.
They were at a NATO conference. Lots of discussion about the efforts countries are making to increase military preparedness. M. Trudeau is the point man for Canada. And he didn’t know what percentage of Canada’s GDP we’re spending now.
Where did M. Turdeau think he was going this week over in Europe, maybe he thought that he would be appearing in front of a bunch of teeny boppers who worshiped him. Kinda like his teaching career, guess that is what he would call Remembrance Day.
Canada is broke and is working very hard at achieving bankruptcy.
2% of GDP? Really?
2% of GDP would be about $40 billion/year. We ain’t anywhere near that. How about a little “economic growth” to make that happen? Maybe the pipelines would be an option, no?
Have a look at Victor Davis Hanson’s “The Second World Wars”, about the failure of conventional deterrence. Nobody, but nobody, is going to tackle Trump, at least on an international basis.
I just don’t see Mr. Trudeau being a player in this thing much longer.
The deficit is almost 60% of a 2% defence budget. Should be no problem diverting $20 billion (of the $28 billion deficit) over to defence. In fact, just switch $18 billion over to defence to meet the 2% commitment and pocket the rest (in general revenue). Being the CFO of Canada is so easy.
Trump should ignore the soy boi and terminate NORAD & revamping it as all U.S. leaving Canada’s northern flank exposed. America would still blast ICBMs over Canada anyway.
Watch for Chicoms to challenge our Arctic sovereignty.
Canada is 100% done w/o USAs protection
Straight Up ray. See my tip at 8:19 this am.
Blackie tells lies. Blackie lives lies. Just like a lot of Canadians, he thinks nobody will take our stuff. Wrong. The only reason it isn’t gone and we’re not vassals to the Russians or now the Chicoms or soon to be the two combined is because of American might. It didn’t have to be like that but Canadian intellectuals (Marxists) lead this country and have for over 5
decades.
Trump should make Blackie kneel down and kiss his hand.
The Chinese have Class 5 Arctic ice breakers, nuclear powered. They have nuclear subs. If they decide to colonize Arctic Islands claimed by Canada. Not much Canada can do. It is only your turf as long as you can hold it.
What Trudeau told Trump.
And the Haida are handcrafting War Canoes. And the new rifles bought for the Inuit Rangers. Ha Ha Ha and the 4 antique obsolete diesel/electric subs that are always in dry dock. That PM Cretin da little tief, bought from the British. And we got 400 Political appointed Generals and Admirals in Ottawa in the 7B new HQ, all shuffling paper and overseeing our gender programs and our Fwench language integrated UN Troops. Yah…
“the new rifles bought for the Inuit Rangers.”
They paid $5,000 for bolt action Sako rifles that sell for $1,000 retail. How would you even find someone to sell you rifles for 5 times what they’re worth. You would also think they would pay wholesale for 5,000 or 10,000 rifles. Better yet, why didn’t they just keep our FN-FALs.
I have one of those rifles, only the civilian hunter model chambered in 30-06 which is only 200 FPS faster than the 7.62 nato with the same projectile. So almost the same rifle. It has never failed me. I was very pleased when I heard that it was being issued to our Ranges, some of whom are my friends. I figured it would be hard to find a better rifle for our guys given about $300 worth of up grades to make it better suited to military applications. $5000! If that includes best quality optics and night sights, good deal. If not, I want an explanation. Would you be so good as to direct me to your sources please.
I loved my c1. Humped it many a mile, hardly ever missed and my fault when I did…but semi autos are not reliable in very cold conditions. At minus 40 you would be lucky to get 3 shots before your c1 froze up and you would need a heat source before you could get another two or three, which is why the rangers stayed with the 303 for so long. If you know what you are about and are very careful your 303 will keep shooting in the coldest weather. I expect Sako will do the same in 7.62 NATO. A superior cartridge.
Good hunting!
Ack-sherally, Wikipedia says their Enfields were chambered in 7.62×51 (7.62 NATO, or .308 for the layman). They must’ve got a lot of use out of them – apparently the reason they swapped them out was that they couldn’t get barrels for the Enfields anymore, among other spare parts. Some of the Ranger Enfields had been rebarrelled four times.
Hmmm, I wonder if we still have that hammer-forge we bought to make barrels for our Mattel-16’s? That does sound like a good job for it.
I don’t know a gunsmith, who will modify a lee enfield to fire 7.62×51 it is too high pressure for the action type. All of the Ranger Lee Enfields I have seen have been 303. I suspect Wikipedia may be in error.
like button!
I heard this on the radio. Hilarious.
Trump: How much are you paying for defence?
Trudeau: We’re increasing 70% over the next 10 years.
Trump: How muchis that?
Trudeau: Mumbles.
Trump: How much are you paying ?
Trudeau: Splutter 1.4%
I’m certain President Donald J. Trump already knows the truth, and was simply asking to confirm if the asshole PM of Old Canada would tell him the truth, or if he’d lie straight to his face.
Now he knows…
From the World Bank, Canada’s military historical expenditures as a % of GDP: https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/MS.MIL.XPND.GD.ZS?locations=CA
NATO’s figures, on how Old Canada is one of the dead beat dads of NATO:
https://www.nato.int/nato_static_fl2014/assets/pdf/pdf_2019_06/20190625_PR2019-069-EN.pdf
Scroll down to graph 2, where you’ll find in the lower left of that graph, that Old Canada spends 1.2% of GDP on military, and just over 10% of its military budget on equipment. You can assume the rest is spent on salaries, office space in Ottawa, pens and pencils.
In order to “catch up” with what Canada’s already committed, Old Canada would have to increase by near to 100% from this year, not 70% increase in a decade. You go to war with the military you’ve got, not the one your parents paid for.
This 1.2% of GDP on military spending is about a $16 billion shortfall EACH YEAR.
or, about 1 stocked aircraft carrier / year with F-18’s and attendant support ships.
Canada hasn’t reached 2.0% of GDP spending on military, since Brian Mulroney was in his first term in 1984-1987. That’s quite awhile ago.
I know the Canadian military “fights above its weight” and this isn’t to slam the military, but Old Canada’s gov’t are shit eating liars, and they should step up to the plate, stop lying to the public about their actual dead beat dad NATO status.
Note that Russia has eyes on the North Pole, has 5 or maybe 6 nuke powered ice breakers, while Canada seems to be relying on “global warming” to take care of this access to the North Pole for them, while they actively fight against it by taxation and bringing ruination upon us.
I hope that after Western Canada separates from Old Canada, we’re not led by like minded wankers.
Canada certainly should be spending to defend and project its interests in the Arctic, which is OURS, ALL OURS, I tell you.
The Canadian military has become a bureaucracy that does little except push paper. I doubt we could field 5 thousand fighting men and half would have to be women. Useless.
The Chicoms are spending like they want to rule the world and Canadians are paying them to do it. We’ve outsourced making stuff and we have a trade deficit with the Chicoms of over 30 billion. Meanwhile their military spending is approaching 180 billion for the year with way more bang for the buck than the top heavy bloated CAF. The Russians haven’t exactly stuck their thumbs in their bums either.
#WeTheJokeNorth
Give Just-In the benefit of the doubt.
By the time he’s through with Canada’s economy,
what we are spending on military today WILL be 1.4% of our GDP – or more!
We need a new country…
That was probably the toughest job-related question he has gotten since before the election. I wonder if he soiled himself.
I’m still amazed at his knowledge of Quantum Theory.
He memorized the wikipedia page on quantumn computing.
Eliminate federal transfers and make Alberta responsible for the difference in the defence budget ($18 billion) – consider it the price of entrance into an expanded US of A.
When Rupertsland becomes free, our only army should be well funded reserves. Don’t make them suffer with the horse shit equipment the Canadian reserves put up with. And no 30 year old Australian jets. Maybe some of those propeller driven Brazilian ground support aircraft.
Kind of related … Huawei is moving its R&D to Canada (from the US).
https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/huawei-research-centre-1.5382725
a nickel says its to Quebec
Now that Canada is China’s North American vassal state, it just makes sense.
Once again … Trudeau sat with his legs very narrowly and daintily crossed … like an abused wife … while MY President sat in his characteristic man-spread. Godddd … the body language alone was so cringeworthy. I really feel sorry for all of Canada … for the day when your PM declares he identifies as a woman … and wants to marry a man.
Won’t be long Kenji that all our HOCKEY players sit like that the way things are going.
Btw, shouldn’t NATO spending numbers be top of mind… memorized even, on the way over by our PM? I mean… did everyone on the plane ride over to the NATO summit think that defence spending would NOT come up? Notice too how quick he was to blame “past governments for cuts”. I guess he didn’t specifically blame Harper so there’s that.
// Trudeau sat with his legs very narrowly and daintily crossed //
Everyone looks dainty next to Trump
And Trudeau folds like hot chocolate licking ice cream.
Except I doubt anything will happen.
At a NATO conference, one would think to be conversant with such numbers. Other leaders notice these lapses
The NATO spending thing highlights our defenceless position.
An Independent Alberta needs to join the USA immediately, simply for that reason.
Canada cannot and will not defend its land or its citizens.
After 60 years of (barely)pretending I figure we all know that.
The world is becoming a more hostile place once again, the North American Continent is a natural fortress.
Shame the USA is gonna have to run off the 5th columnists at the first sign of danger.
If it came to serious defence matters,Canada is useless and actually constitutes a security risk from the USA’s point of view.
The Independent West will have little choice but to become part of the USA in that sense.
Politely it is in our interests to contribute to our own defence, that land route to Alaska being a big part of an integrated defence
We have a weak historical claim to the arctic archipelago, especially the north west passage. We need to add 50 F35s, 5 or 6 state of the art nuclear subs, several new missile frigates and at least 2 new resupply ships (that should bring us up to 2%) before we can pretend to defend our claim to the arctic. WITH American help! Would that be enough to get Trump to acknowledge our claim? I doubt it. What are the odds of anything near that happening? Snowballs you say?
This once proud country is sooooo screwed.
Um um ah ah ah. Thanks Toronto that’s a real winner you losers gave Canaduh. I just wish Big Don would turn this putz and Muhcron over his knee and spank the girlie out of them both, would love to see those globalist tears flowing for a real reason.
Sorry – very, very few NATO members meet their 2% defence commitments; only Estonia, Poland, the U.K., Greece (surprisingly) and (of course) the U.S. No wonder Trump is royally pi$$ed at NATO.
And Canada? – bottom of the barrel. Again. As usual. So what else is new?
Don’t be surprised at Greece. They have islands a couple of miles off the coast of Turkey to protect and a whole lot of ambitions from Erdogan. Btw Turkey continues to occupy northern Cyprus.
More from Ezra…
**Just like at the G7 meeting last year, Justin Trudeau was meek and obedient to Donald Trump when they were face to face. But the moment Trump left the room Trudeau bad-mouthed him. Here he is doing the same in London, mocking Canada’s greatest NATO ally.**
https://twitter.com/ezralevant/status/1202013710153388032
School girls.
This is why boys have always been easier to raise than girls. Just watch how Justin acts once Trump has left the room.
He’s a Mean Girl.
I’ll let Don Cornelius introduce your PM … put to music:
https://youtu.be/SBLM0KUERxQ
(What they do?) They smile in your face
All the time they want to take your place
The backstabbers
Ahhahah!
Perfect!
Why is it that I got a visual of your PM dressed-up in ‘fly’ 1970’s brotha’s garb … in brownish-blackface … a dancin and a singin …
That BLACKFACE photo from Trudeau’s past was embarrassing enough! Now this.
This new gaffe should bring nightmares of a little dancing ‘potato!’ The story is on all channels now. The bought and paid for PRESS just threw our Prime Minister under the bus! Wow! Which story is more shocking now?
That was awful. Our Prime Minister is a complete fool.
They’re making fun of Trump because he sat down for a 40 minute presser and they’re like who does THAT.
Giggle giggle tee hee hee
How long did it take? A few hours and Sock Bhouy sticks his foot in. I smell Old Boy LPOC pulling his string. Jeebus, who feeds him his lines? Amateur like the BLOC dude shooting his yap off when buttoning it might be the better option. Full of themselves. Not even smart enough to STFU on a subject that he obviously has no knowledge of. After the last “world” leaders event where he was seen to be visibly shunned, the brain trust advising him are just as brain dead and oblivious to what goes on around them as he is.
LindaL, kind of like 63% of Canadian voters.
Boots,
Thanks for the link. Rarely do we get to view a private gossipy moment amongst Western Leaders. They should know better than to talk like schoolboys. There are spies everywhere and the booze was flowing. Nevertheless, this is a display of their individual true childish characters. Trudeau is an embarrassment and this proves that he is not acting in the best interest of Canadians. We are poorly served by His Highness Silliness.
Good comments in the link. I thought Bobby Lopes’ comment sums it up well: “They are all puppets doing the bidding of their masters. Trump is his own man doing the bidding of the People. He doesn’t need a Team or handlers.”
I see this video is making the rounds even being shown on CBC’s Power and Politics twitter feed. It’ll be interesting to see how our media plays this. Trump is being mocked by Trudeau for sitting down for a long 40 minute press conference something he would NEVER do. Now… you’d think our media would applaud any politician that sits down for 40 mins to take questions but how can they? It’s Trump!! And you’d think they’d admonish any politician that makes fun of this exercise thereby disrespecting the media’s role but how can they? It’s Trudeau!!
Journalism is SO difficult in these times.
They’re playing it on FOX, late night – Shannon Breen.
Boots,
FNC’s Laura Ingraham put the video on her show
The Ingraham Angle tonight too. Her schoolboy comment was perfect!
Boots you wrote:
“Now… you’d think our media would applaud any politician that sits down for 40 mins to take questions but how can they? It’s Trump!!”……..etc to the end of your comment…..!
Yessir! Exactly!!!
The bought PRESS made fools of themselves on this one!
Hahaha!
He’s done that before.
School girls? They actually have better tact, believe it or not.
So you’re the leader of a G7 nation, going to a major photo-op with your treaty partners.
You have an adversarial relationship with the big boy in the room. He had already lectured you on your treaty spending a couple of times.
At a minimum, when you are flying over you:
A. Snooze, and Netflix catch up on ‘Friends’.
B. Search trip advisor for top French restaurants to expense.
C. Reminisce about all that quality time with your Butts buddy (and that time ‘K’ and ‘K’ joined in).
D. Prepare for a low difficulty meeting by knowing about 6 key facts. Ask your buddy Harjinder a few clarifying questions. (Then do A,B,C).
Then practice your cringy nut squeezing.
Yes, but bear in-mind, Sockpuppet’s only interest in the amount Canada is spending on defence is, how does he reduce it further without Canada being flung-out of NATO and NORAD? And be reasonable – he’s got elections to buy, so he needs the money.
UGH!!!! Trump had him by the shorthairs and he let him off.
I thought for sure he was going to say “You don’t know what you’re paying????” …”Don’t look for help from your handlers, don’t you know????”
Meh…I’m sure there will be other opportunities.
Especially when one considers Trudeau and other Euro weenies were caught on a hot mike criticizing Trump.
Boris too…very dissapointing.
“President Donald Trump called Canada “slightly delinquent” on defense spending Tuesday at this week’s NATO summit in London.”
“Trump was reminded by reporters that Canada does not meet the NATO standard of spending 2% of its GDP on defense and was asked if Canada should “have a plan” to do so.”
President Trump at 0.19 in the video, “we’ll put them on a payment plan” …
https://dailycaller.com/2019/12/03/donald-trump-payment-plan-justin-trudeau-
delinquent-defense/?
Dead beat dad Canada is short by +$16 billion each year.
You know what happens in Canada when a debtor parent tells a Liberal court that they don’t have the money for kids support payments? Then they tell the court that they take the kids to the park often, and they “really love” the kids?
The Liberal judge will tell the debtor parent, “these arrear amounts will be added to your existing arrears and if it continues we’ll take your drivers license, your passport, take your goods and sell them to the highest bidder”.
Fuck you Old Canada. Pay up or get out.
Yes. That’s about the size of it. Well said Marc.
The thing here is, take yer pick, you want an army or you don’t.
Most Canadians, I submit, don’t give a damn. Too bad.
If you don’t want an army, just say so.
If you do, you gotta damn well fund it.
It is one of those things. If there is going to be an army instead of playing soldiers, you gotta get on with it.
It’s not playing soldiers.
And while you are at it get some real people that are not gonna scam the system with their pdst syndrome.
Get some real men that know what are they getting into.
Something about the The Foreign Legion.
End of story.
I agree with much of what you say but it is obvious you have not been in combat.
DLM, the Canadian forces have become a paper pushing bureaucracy. I doubt it could field 5 thousand fighting men/women/trans, whatever there might be. The few that have been in combat in recent years are just that, “the few”.
I am privileged and honoured to know a few of those few.
Decades ago it became painful to see what was happening to our armed forces so I stopped looking. Admiral Norman’s case made me look again. What I saw made me sick.
We are sooooo screwed.
I always look forward to your posts. Thanks for your efforts.
Every Country has an Army, whether that is the Army of your country or the Army of some foreign power is the only choice you can make!
It is amazing how few people do not realize that fact.
There is none so blind as he who will not see.
Oops. I meant how many people do not realize. Must proof read.
Great comments on this topic tonight.
(On FNC) Earlier this evening President Trump and Melania Trump were shown entering #10 Downing Street in London for a reception for NATO leaders. They seemed like their usual selves. That was not the case when they left the reception about 1 to 2 hours later. FLOTUS wasn’t smiling and made a dash for the limo and Trump didn’t answer the multitude of questions from the PRESS who were waiting around for some action. He too, didn’t look too pleased. I wonder whether he told them all off?
Looked everywhere, no photo yet that I could find. FLOTUS had a beautiful gold colored cape and a seemingly pretty purplish colored dress underneath.
Good for Trump and USA, he spent the day telling everybody off.
They all @$%#ing deserved it!
he did?
well. I really dont get envious very often but THIS ‘twould be wun o dos times Nanc.
tell them off. bloody right and WAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY overdue.
pic worth 1,000 words and I betcha POTUS Trump used ALL of them. lol !!!!!
bravo !!!! bravo Donald !!!!!!!!! yeeeeeeeeeeeeHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA !!!!!!!!!!!
It’ll be interesting to see how our media plays this. Boots at 11:12
I’m predicting: BULLY! BULLY! BIG BULLY!
I absolutely love Canada’s de facto owner slap around that retarded little insolent pussy bitch Trudeau and make him look even stupider that he is!
May God continue to bless President Donald J. Trump and the mighty Republic from which he hails!
ALMEN!
