        I remember playing Miserlou in my high school band. Big volume and outa the universe drumming. Thinking back it was pretty outrageous. More outrageous was the fact that not one guy in the band knew a thing about surfing or had even seen an ocean – haha.

        Dick Dale throws in a little reference to the Jewish ‘Hava Nagila’- ha. Guess it fits surfing – who knew?

        Dick Dale was a guitar monster who never got the recognition. All the players knew him but he had little commercial success.

        1. Quentin Tarantino put “Miserlou” in his movie “Pulp Fiction.” Remember the dance scene? He probably wanted to see what Travolta would do with that. I think Tarantino would’ve been pleasantly surprised because the actors did an admirable job and, of course, the scene became famous and a favourite of film fans. This was genius, considering this music is something belly dancers dance to. The title of the song means … “woman from Egypt” in Greek.

          The music is world famous and different versions appear on the web. There are about 100 to 200 of them.

  2. Anyone else keeping track of poor little Scoldilocks? I kept the link from the other night, curious to see how the storms of November treat her.
    Well, it’s a slow trip…they are averaging around 6 knots, their trip will take 3 or 4 weeks, with 25 knot winds, and pretty challenging seas, with a terrible storm to somehow avoid to the east.

    There is some discussion of Andrew voluntarily submitting to being questioned by the FBI.
    Perhaps his nude image is on the CD’s that Epstein had in his office safe?
    The FBI and other police forces searched and found this the day after Epstein’s death.

    2. I knew a biker, drug dealer, and murderer. That didn’t make me one. Remember that Bill and Hillary were big buds with Epstein and it hasn’t harmed them. The woman who claimed to have sex with Andrew was 17 and 18 at the time and 16 was legal. The fact that she had a huge smile on her face and had to go through customs to get into England indicates that it wasn’t so much against her will. I am not sure how it has somehow become unconscionable for a single old fart to chase random young feline.

And the National Post reports that large Canadian cities are having a hard time passing anti-Semitism resolutions because of opposition to Israel.

  15. A break from the news cycle to tell SDAers the following true anecdote. This past Monday (November 18) I went to the university campus to get a haircut and to do some research work involving the off-line printer. The barbershop – “Styles” at the UNB student union — opens at 9:00 am, so I went then so as to not wait in line.

    My barber was not talkative, so I listened in to the discussion next to me — between a 30-year-old-ish man, with a heavy French accent, and a talkative barber. He mentioned that he has spent 24 years at school, 12 years in K-12 and 12 years at university. To be fair, I didn’t catch whether or not he was in PhD studies at UNB, or if he had completed the studies and was starting off as a junior professor (12 years at university is a long time to complete PhD studies, unless one takes a long time to complete the dissertation). I did catch that he had spent six years at university studying in Ottawa.

    The woman barber then chimed in mentioning that her grown children had come visiting, for the week, from Alberta. To which the PhD fellow asked, “Is that the province which borders British Columbia?”.

    This is no joke. I am not making this up. This conversation happened. With all that is going on with Western Canada alienation, to boot.

The ‘Hair’ apparent has just given the Liberal salute to the rest of Canada. Thirty seven cabinet seats from an elected field of 158. For the Great Brainwashed Canadian electorate this means that one in four Liberals are now getting a substantial boost to their salaries.   29. Stayed In camp today (Town) so my son and his wife could get out hunting. So my 4 granddaughters helped make shepherd’s pie from scratch and bannock. And camp coffee. No chicory. Had to run to the store cuz they don’t use lard. So then they all wanted to know what lard was, is it like butter. Sorta if you like fried toast. Fried Toast? Every answer brings another question. So stopped at the small antique shop for a browse and bought my 9 year old granddaughter an old copy of “Black Beauty” she is horse crazy. I make her read for 15 minutes out loud to me after supper, kinda fun. Ha Ha My son wanted some bannock to take hunting tomorrow for lunch he is SOL. My son was tracking a big timber wolf he came across bleeding from one paw. Told him I would prefer a nice wolf hide to deer meat. But he has 4 girls to feed who like venison. So I was SOL there. He stuck to business.

    1. Hey ABT LMAO. Girls are a mess to deal with, soon as they come in from school, and remember there is 4 of these varmints. From 9 to a brooding hormonal 15 year old. I give them their little chores, except the 15 year old she knows better, told the 9 year old to tidy up their bathroom, she seemed to be taking awhile so go check on her, and she had the best crookedest application off her Mom’s red lipstick I ever saw. Looked like a drunk put it on for her. Big smile. Mom was away so she made a raid on her Mom. The one middle one whined about chores so gave her more. Told her got no time for whiners, I think she suddenly realized oh yah this is gramps, not Mom and Dad. No Mercy ayeeeee. Oh yah did manage to set off fire alarm, trying to figure out their electric stove. Used to gas, a little added touch for mealtime.

        I’m over in this country looking after a surgery patient for a bit. Not really doing much. Bowel surgery. I’m just cooking and keeping an eye out for any change in condition. Everything is going good some I’ve been nosing around Highway 22 noth if RMH.

        Been on the chain saw and today a cowboy I know called and asked if I could help him with some wolves that have been around. I’ll go have a look tomorrow.

        Should be back to the trap shack next week. I gotta hang a little meat myself.
