We’re getting something wrong about the universe.
It might be something small: a measurement issue that makes certain stars looks closer or farther away than they are, something astrophysicists could fix with a few tweaks to how they measure distances across space. It might be something big: an error — or series of errors — in cosmology, or our understanding of the universe’s origin and evolution. If that’s the case, our entire history of space and time may be messed up. But whatever the issue is, it’s making key observations of the universe disagree with each other: Measured one way, the universe appears to be expanding at a certain rate; measured another way, the universe appears to be expanding at a different rate. And, as a new paper shows, those discrepancies have gotten larger in recent years, even as the measurements have gotten more precise.

I made an effort to get slightly educated on the physics of space and time – consumer level only, but still tough for my non-science head. Still, I managed a tenuous grasp of some concepts which made me realize how limited our understanding of reality is and this article continues with that.
As a group, i would suggest physicists are far less political than other branches these days. I think it’s because they have more amazing things to obsess over and it takes a whole lot of brain to do it.

Physics has to be repeatable to become science, not like the soothsaying of climate change. You just have to make up some unproveable story, and if it fits the narrative, the money just rolls in. When it was determined the universe was not slowing down its expansion, but speeding up, they came up with dark energy.

Of course our cosmological theory is fundamentally flawed; it was concocted entirely on a single planet around a single star in a universe of literally uncountable stars and planets. We know nothing of the larger universe and have no first-hand observation or comparative analysis with which to test our hypotheses. We just conjured it out of thin air. Our cosmological theory at this point in human history is all wild conjecture and self-congratulatory back-slapping. So what is the observational evidence for dark matter?
Prof. Valentina Zharkova’s paper on the Grand Solar Minimum and what is actually happening now and for the next 50 years with climate. She upset the IPCC and AWG Hoaxers so much they tried to have her paper banned. But it was accepted for publication anyway. She makes fools of them. She is predicting solar cooling worse than the Maunder Minimum. With all of the Sun’s 4 Magnetic Fields shutting down instead of just 2 like in the Maunder Minimum. She predicts famines globally by 2028 if quick action is not taken. We are already seeing this happen. Crop losses this year globally are bad. She is predicting a drop in Global average temperatures of 6-7 deg C. Very drastic. And all nothing to do with CO2. Just the Solar cycles that have been repeating for hundreds of thousands of years.

I agree that thinking we can induce catastrophic climate change is arrogance on steroids. But the claim can be refuted on its own, without introducing extraneous topics, such as uncertain cosmology. The problem is, you made it appear as though the two topics were somehow related, and refuting or even casting doubt on your version of cosmology somehow would cast doubt on refutations of AGW. But cosmology has actually zero to do with whether AGW is defensible, and I surely would hate to have the debate on AGW hinge on your claims about cosmology. There is no reason to drag AGW into this discussion.

On the surface, it would be more accurate to say the earth is a ball of water than a small rock. Of course it is neither exclusively, and beneath the surface it is still a seething ball of fire.
You said that the universe is infinite, and implied that the current estimate of its age (13B years) is limited by what we can see, and what we can see is somehow limited by out own inability. This is not so.
Most physicists would not consider the “big bang” to be a “local event.”
Frankly, even though I hold a doctorate in theoretical high energy physics, I care very little about cosmology. I think it is the physicists’ version of the medieval argument on how many angels can stand on the head of a needle.
