Back in 2015, Amanda Lang, at the time CBC’s marquee business reporter, found herself in hot water. There were credible allegations she had unsuccessfully lobbied editors to torpedo a colleague’s story about RBC using temporary foreign workers, and that she had lobbed a softball interview at RBC CEO Gord Nixon on The National, all while in an undisclosed romantic relationship with one of the bank’s directors. An internal CBC review recommended a lunch-and-learn on conflicts of interest, but otherwise came back clean: “The content of Amanda Lang’s journalism has adhered to CBC’s journalistic standards.”
In the aftermath, CBC Radio’s Q assembled a media panel — myself included — to discuss the matter. Or so we were told.

A Greek cleaning lady was sentenced to 10 years in prison for lying about her elementary school record in a court ruling. Her sentence has outraged the people and rightly so. The 53-year-old woman had worked at a publicly-funded nursery for 15 years until a review in 2014 revealed she had doctored a certificate documenting her primary education. The judge held that the sentence was based upon defrauding the public. What about the politicians who conspired with Goldman Sachs to hide losses that have really defrauded the Greek people?

“what’s a greek urn?”
“oh, about a buck 50 an hour.”
I lied lots to get a job until I got the experience I claimed and didn’t have to anymore.
You might make a favorable mention of the brilliant work by the CBC in uncovering multiple scandals in Newfoundland, including cronyism in hiring at the provincial museum and the continuing Muskrat Falls disaster.
Ah, smarmy Amanda Lang.
A dodgy, self-serving character from Day One.
Only there because of her father Otto.
As a Trudeau cabinet minister, Otto Lang spent $750,000 a year on travel in the 1970s.
I trust cbc as much as as i trust facebook.
Shut down the CBC!
CBC will never be shut down as all political Parties recognize it’s usefulness as a propaganda tool.
When Harper was PM I asked (in person) my CPC MP about cutting the funding for CBC. He replied that Stephen Harper’s opinion was that CBC is a sacred institution to the people of eastern Canada and as such was untouchable.
Harper DID cut funding by a few million bucks, but he quietly gave it back under another fund in a few days.
CBC will be with us until the end, whatever that may be, and IF the people who claim the Muslims will one day take over this country are correct, CBC will then become the propaganda arm of the new theocracy.
It is said “the pen is mightier than the sword”, and if so, it is a lot less messy or liable to frighten a timid citizenry.
I have to lol! at the fact that if I subscribe to one of the left-wing propagandists I can write off 15% of the cost against my taxes. Lessee now, a subscription is about $150 a year, so I get to write off $22.50. BFD! I can donate that $150 to the Liberal party and write off 75% of it!
Better idea: why not just put all big company journalists on the government payroll, and quit bullshitting us.
Oh well, she can always join Evan Soloman over at CTV….
Sell it off as real estate and equipment so as to ensure the toxic culture doesn’t go with the assets.
You have to sell it as physical assets. It has no value as a going concern and the buyer would inherit the unions. You could also auction off the licenses – although not to Bell.
A banker’s whore in every sense of the word. I hope he gave her the clap.
The CBC archives are probably pretty valuable
For what, kindling? What was the last thing the Corpse broadcast that wasn’t pornography or globalist propaganda?
