It’s unbecoming of any politician in the legislature to be so crass, but when it’s the governing party, which has a majority, it’s particularly disturbing to see such antipathy directed not just at members opposite but the population at large.
It’s most fascinating to hear a Leftist call others as incapable of critical thinking. And this, not from any run of the mill Man of the Left, but from a senior minister of one of the most incompetent provincial governments in recent memory. How much more damage would the Alberta NDP have to do before they would throw in the towel and say, “We finally admit, we don’t have any damn clue what we’re doing so we’re going to let those who do govern our province”?!?

But she did accomplish her secondary objective, namely trashing the economy. When her government gets turfed in the next election (she won’t lose her seat, thanks to all the lefty profs in her riding, in which, I’m ashamed to say, I reside), she will leave her job as premier with a smile on her face. The damage the Dippers have inflicted on the province will take the better part of a generation to repair.

Alberta already sends ZERO transfer payments to Québec. Equalization comes out of Federal tax revenues. Those revenues are raised from Canadian taxpayers, both corporate and personal, regardless of where they live in Canada.
The provinces have no involvement in this process except as recipients of equalization payments from Federal revenues. If you’re going to be grumpy about the equalization programme – and you should be, in my view – at least base your grumping on the facts i.e., the output: which provinces are getting payments and how much.
