  1. The far-left continues to push the lie that those who don’t swallow their propaganda belong to the “far-right”. This is a process of de-normalizing their opponents. They have also done their best to link them to Nazis. That, despite the Nazis being on the far-left.

Interestingly, Antifa tends to magically appear whenever normal people, aka the “far-right” show up in numbers to protest the actions of their far-left governments. The police stand back and watch when the predicable violence begins, and only intervene if violence is returned against Antifa. Hitler used the same tactic against his rivals’ supporters.

    1. Yes I get some level of satisfaction pointing out that whether its the Soviet variety, facist variety or the Nationalist variety, its all socialism and if allowed to proceed always ends up with a lot of dead bodies and a devastated economy.

      1. Bingo! The European spectrum only includes leftists. So if you’re labelled far right, you’re still a leftist.

The European tradition of modern democracy has its roots in Rousseau and the French Revolution which is not a tradition that champions the individual and individual rights. Europeans have been collectivists from the start: communists, socialists, and fascists and they’ve been fighting each other since the Spanish Civil War.

Unfortunately, North Americans are rejecting their history of individual rights and going down the same path as Europeans. Today’s Universities openly teach that our society has outgrown the philosophies of the founding fathers.

        1. exactly…and don’t forget history
For the most part, European countries are coming from a place of rulers, kings, queens, etc
..socialism was a step up for them

          It’s a big step down for us………

        2. Universities openly teach that our society has outgrown the philosophies of the founding fathers

I remain dumbfounded by the attacks on our Constitution.
How does one “outgrow” our natural, inalienable Rights?
          How does one “outgrow” Freedom?
          How does one “outgrow” Liberty?
How does one “outgrow” FREEDOM of SPEECH?
How does one “outgrow” Freedom OF Religion?
How does one “outgrow” Freedom of the Press? Oh, wait!? I think I discovered how we’ve outgrown this one … via a mono-press, a State-Press … a Deep State Press.

          1. Our inalienable rights are being freely traded for perceived cradle-to-grave security.
They won’t be happy until we are nothing more than well-cared-for chattel and slaves.

          2. Let me answer my own question … we “outgrow” the US Constitution when we destroy God. And we’ve effectively destroyed God in our dominant culture. There can be no mistake that the US Constitution springs from “Natural” Law … God’s Law. The old dead white men who created it said so. But now there’s “no God” … so we need to rewrite the Constitution with a foundational belief that “The State” is god. “The Village” is god. All bow and be subservient to the all-knowing, all-wise … State. And the bureaucrat-priests are in total control.

          3. “There can be no mistake that the US Constitution springs from “Natural” Law … God’s Law. The old dead white men who created it said so.”

I doubt that, and even if they did they were wrong. The USC sprang from Enlightenment principles, which came from ancient Greece. Some of the Founders were barely religious ex Paine, who was a Deist.

One of the things going very well in our society is its ongoing secularization. The numbers of outright Atheists such as myself grow everyday. We are the future.

      2. Quoted in Niall Ferguson’s ‘The War Of The World’:

“There are two breeds of Bolshevism…..there is nothing to choose between the philosophies of Moscow and Berlin.”

Duff Cooper, British politician, August 23, 1939.

  2. When a news announcer says “far right”, I pretty much automatically stop listening. He or she has self-labelled as intellectually lazy and not worth my listening time. Some of the European “far-right parties” are dirigiste statists who’d make Bernie Sanders pale.
The same holds for “white supremacists”. If you hold the belief that the English political heritage is superior to other forms, that doesn’t mean that you don’t think people of all colours and religions can and should assimilate to it.

    1. Same here. Or populist, whatever that means. Some idiot CBC journalist tried to label the Socialist government of Venezuela “populist”, which automatically explains why it is useless, rather than socialist because such governments should represent a stepping stone to greater things.

  3. They see everything as “far-right” because they are so far left of centre that everyone who disagrees with them are far-right.
Three bad two term Presidents in a row and here we are.
Bought and paid for by globalists.
    Thank God for Trump.

    1. Three bad two term presidents plus one bad one term president. In a way, George H. W. Bush may be the worst of all, since he betrayed the Reagan revolution. And he, not Reagan, defined the Republican party for years to come.

      1. b b b b but . . . . he was THE hero here at SDA at the time.
aka mr ‘the trillion dollar iraq war will pay for itself’

        expliquez svp anyone on the bush 2.0 right . . . .
        here’s a hint: reflex ideology.

        1. Sadly, I reflexively defended Bush as a reaction to the vicious ATTACKS by the Left. And I defended his (limp-wristed) War on Islamic Terror. But time gives perspective. And my current perspective is that George Bush almost totally RUINED the Republican Party. Thankfully, President Donald J. Trump is putting it right … although the Bushy-embeds are fighting MY POTUS tooth and nail.

          1. Limp-wristed is right. That was what was wrong with all our post WWII wars. Imagine if we stopped at the French-German border, and allowed Nazi Germany to go on. That was exactly what we did in all the subsequent wars.
We respected the Chinese border so much in the Korean conflict that we did not even let our jet fighters chase the Chinese planes across the border, let alone ground warfare. China was a belligerent state, whether it declared war or not. When we could, we should have bombed its airbases.
We were not allowed to cross into North Vietnam or Cambodia, even though supply tunnels were dug into those territories. I remember the MSM was so incensed when one of those tunnels was found to be straddling the border with Cambodia, and it claimed we violated Cambodia’s sovereignty.
And we destroyed the Iraqi Republican Guard (which according to the MSM, including Scientific American, was invincible,) only to stop at the Iraqi border. If there was justification for taking out Hussein at all, it was then, when he invaded an ally who asked for help, not when Bush 2.0 was in office.
As I was typing, it occurred to me how ironic all these were. The liberals thought those borders were sacrosanct, even though they were borders of belligerent countries. But our (i.e. U.S.) own borders, why they believe in a completely open border.

        2. Bush was widely criticized on the right for not finishing the job; his expulsion of Iraq from Kuwait was good but left catastrophic problems due to his refusal to remove Hussein.

      2. Can you imagine Jeb Bush in the White House. He might be the only person in the US worse than Hillary.

        1. How much $$$ did he WASTE on a futile … tone deaf campaign? $250M ?

Imagine how many “Dreamers” Jeb could have funded to crash our borders with that wad?

  4. We have allowed leftists and Marxists in general to so convolute political terminology that it could mean anything they want.

Right of centre of now “alt right” therefore identical to Trump fascism and Neo Nazi prejudices.

Hard core leftists who want to make government bigger, badder and certainly more coercive, call themselves moderates.

Worst of all, progressives are called liberals. They are polar opposites, one is individualist, the other collectivist.

Liberal, Conservative, moderate, mainstream are meaningless, subject to semantic twisting that would make Gumby pull a muscle.

The dumbing down of the electorate and commentariat is well underway and if Trudeau wins re-election, shall reach fruition.

Too bad about our country breaking up over it, but at least eastern voters will be spared the wrath of alt-right westerners.

    1. Unless you actually pay attention and have an independently thinking brain … you are being intentionally and systematically propagandized and brainwashed.

Polar Vortex … used to be a “cold spell”
Extreme weather … used to be a … “storm”
Alt. Right … used to be people who believed in individual rights over State rights.

It’s all propaganda. But the masses rarely stop to THINK how they’re being manipulated.

  5. The linked article has it all wrong. The rise of the populist vote has everything to due with mass immigration and nothing to do with their economy.

    1. The two are linked in the minds of the voters. Mass immigration brings cheap labour that takes jobs away from citizens. Trump is showing that if you can slow down illegal immigration you open up employment opportunities for your own citizens and the rest of the world is taking notice.

      1. “Mass immigration brings cheap labour that takes jobs away from citizens.”

It’s not ‘your’ job, and immigration has not resulted in mass unemployment anywhere.

“Trump is showing that if you can slow down illegal immigration you open up employment opportunities for your own citizens”

He has demonstrated no such thing. Thankfully, the worst attempts to slow down immigration died in Congress. Second, that’s not how the economy works.

  6. To put this in perspective, they call our (not mine), Yes ma’am, Howdy Dowdy, faux Conservative leader Andrew Scheer, far right.

    1. its howdy dowdy time, its howdy dowdy time ! la la la la la la !!!!

beuuuuutiful comparison. the gawky ‘ah shucks’ demeanor . . . .

ya Im in a pissy mood this morning SDA, so what?

  7. “The only thing any of them really know is that they despise the “far right.””

Yup. And too bloody stupid or arrogant to realize/admit that the rise of the so-called “far right” is directly attributable to their own negligence and gutlessness.

  8. …..My understanding is that there is no “right” politics, there is ONLY “far right politics!”

  9. Somebody needs to clue the lefties in that Scare Words don’t work anymore. Words like (insert perversion here)-phobe or racist or bigot or ‘far-right’ or…well you get the idea.

  10. You’re right Kenji,
We have removed G-d from society.
Even if *peoplekind* dont believe in g-d persay, asking all to be kind to one another doesn’t seem much to ask.

  11. What you gotta know is that the European media cartel and the corrupt politicians in the EU parliament call the Democrats of Sweden “far right”.
Of course they do it throw the plebeians of Europe off in hope they will turn away from the parties that don’t agree with the totalitarian aims of the socialist/fascist extremist rulers of Europe.
In fact the far right in Europe is something closer to the so called “Democratic socialist” of North America.
