[European Union’s foreign policy chief Federica ] Mogherini’s summit in Vienna was a statement of deep contempt for the US. Days before US President Donald Trump was scheduled to arrive on the continent, the leaders of Europe publicly colluded with Iran, China and Russia to undermine and weaken America. While shocking in and of itself, Europe’s behavior didn’t tell us anything we didn’t already know.
Mogherini has been publicly attacking the US for walking away from the nuclear deal and declaring her allegiance to the pact three times a day, every day since May 8 when Trump announced he was pulling the US out of it and reimposing sanctions on Iran.
What we didn’t know until recently is why Mogherini and her colleagues have chosen to stand with Iran against America.
We got the answer on June 30.
Six days before the Vienna summit, Belgian security forces arrested members of an Iranian terror cell as they made their way to Paris to blow up a rally held that day by the Iranian opposition movement Mujahedin e-Khalq. The cell was led by Asduallah Asadi, the head of Iran’s intelligence network in Europe. Asadi is registered as the Iranian intelligence attaché at the Iranian embassy in Vienna. He is an officer of the Revolutionary Guards’ al-Quds Brigade, which is responsible for Iran’s foreign terror operations.
Thousands attended the rally in Paris. Among the many VIPS present were former prime minister Ehud Barak, former Canadian prime minister Stephen Harper and former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani.
The arrests in Belgium drove home the fact that Iran has developed a massive terror infrastructure in Europe. The terror operatives who were arrested lived and operated in at least four countries: Germany, Austria, Belgium and France.
On the face of it, it is amazing than right after terrorists under the direct command of the Iranian regime were caught en route to carrying out an attack in Paris, Europe’s top diplomats sat down with the leaders of the regime and brainstormed how to shower them with cash in open defiance of the United States.

As with Iran, so with Russia, when you see the full spectrum of European actions, you realize there is no connection whatsoever between European rhetoric and European policy. As with Iran, so with Russia, Europe’s actual policy is to appease Russia by paying it off. As with Iran so with Russia, Europe expects the US to pull its fat from the fire when the going gets tough – and pay for the privilege of doing so.
Trump scares the Europeans. He doesn’t scare them because he expects them to pay for their own defense. All of his predecessors had the same expectation. He frightens the Europeans because he ignores their rhetoric while mercilessly exposing their true policy and refuses to accept it. They are scared that Trump intends to exact a price from them for their weak-kneed treachery.

European countries, like Canada, loathe themselves because they can’t do their own defense, and our economies do much better with the US involved, as well. We all try to make themselves feel better by adopting a passive-aggressive casual anti-Americanism and imagine a culturally- and morally-superior sophistication. Our media don’t even hear it any more, but Trump does. The Shiny Potato is finding that out, as he tries to tightrope between Gerry Butts’s approval and a US backlash.
Very accurate assessment. I am convinced that the Liberal’s love affair with the UN (no matter how dysfunctional the UN gets) is aimed at reducing the stature and influence of the US. It is petty and self-defeating in the end, but it goes down well with Canadians who are anti-Amercan. Many of them are Liberal supporters. Why would you take pot shots at the big guy, when it would be so easy to benefit from being a friend. Trump has not been unreasonable in any of his policies.

There is some truth in this. If you’re a smaller, weaker country, then you’re likely going to see international organizations as a way to hamstring larger, more powerful ones.
If you’re Ireland, you might well feel that it’s in your interest to team up with the UN and EU to improve your influence, even if it means ceding some sovereignty to do it.
If you’re the US, it’s in your interest to resist all international attempts to limit your sovereignty.
The problem for Canada is that our interests are very much aligned with those of the US, and we are in a good position to get preferential treatment from them. Hamstring the US, and you hamstring Canada as well. There is no win for us in aligning with the UN globalists.

It would be nice to know what Glick has in mind. Nothing should be off the table in my opinion. High time well-heeled globalists and anti-semites were given cause to be at least as afraid of Mossad as they are of Iranian intelligence—and that, clearly, is plenty.

I’m reading this book again after abandoning it is my less cynical days a few years ago. It is extremely well written, containing lots of wry humour about the various euro-bums who would have us believe they have a clue. It is quite technical as it deals primarily with complex monetary and central banking issues, so it can be challenging. But well worth the struggle.

I never had much time over the years for Trump, I just saw him as a bombastic billionaire with a love for the limelight. After he announced his candidacy, I was fond of saying ‘Trump is so full of bullshit, he’s overqualified to be a politician’. Well, he has turned out to be the most plain spoken and direct politician I have ever witnessed.
Beyond him even winning the presidency, who could have ever guessed Trump was to turn out to be an international dynamo for promoting and protecting the rights of the little guy in democracies worldwide? Who could have ever guessed that he may very well turn out to be one of America’s most important presidents… ever? His performance has been outstanding, especially in the face of an active coup attempt.
The left in general is becoming so unhinged, I am sincerely worried for the safety of President Trump. I wish him well.

European Leaders remind me of the traitor in the Matrix movie.
