      A most peculiar thing happens in Montreal on July 1st, in this city of ‘renters’ mostly everyone is ‘moving.’ The leases run from July 1st to June 30th. Around the month of May you start seeing FOR RENT signs everywhere posted as “à louer” 4 1/2 or 5 1/2 rooms, with contact info. It is difficult to get moving trucks there then. Bell Canada used to be a nightmarish place for trying to get a phone installed before cell phones were available. Your nearest neighbor would be bothered with your phone calls till your phone was installed. It was difficult to get painters or someone at the hardware store to mix paint. Everyone was painting their apartments amid the mess of boxes and furniture. It wasn’t unusual to see furniture on the sidewalk. It wasn’t unusual to not be able to get down some street, for all the moving vans in the way and stuff on the sidewalks.

      The only time you’d see anyone moving during any other time of the year was if someone sublet their apartment because they had to get out quickly. The most difficult thing was to find an apartment to rent during the course of the year. The remaining ones were junk and or too costly. In the McGill ‘ghetto’ students kept the same place for years rather than moving constantly. It can be a nightmarish city at times.

    Funny how the phony 911 recording conveniently ends prematurely, right after the setup and the punchline are delivered.

    A new set of laws governing life in 25 low-income, heavily Muslim enclaves in Denmark – officially labeled as “ghettos” – is the latest salvo as Europe grapples with integrating an influx of migrants. Beginning at the age of 1, “ghetto children” must be separated from their “ghetto parents” for 25 hours per week for mandatory instruction in so-called “Danish values,” which includes learning about the language and the traditions of Christmas and Easter, The New York Times reported.
    Families that don’t comply with the rules could see their welfare payments cut off. Danish citizens outside of these areas are able to choose whether to enroll children in preschool up to age 6.

  11. Demonstrations in Halifax today targeting u.s. marines. Lot of rag heads shouting. Canada is doomed and will end up the same way as England France and Germany. Muslims do not belong in a civilized society

      They do not say much about the identity of the Brampton bus stabber. When the news does not reveal identity, I am always suspiscious about why. Surely even Trudeau has figured out that this particular kind of diversity does not make us stronger. It makes people angry and defensive.

    1863 – East: The southern army of Robert E. Lee retreats from Gettysburg, PA. 52,000 American casualties (north or south, they were all Americans.)

    1863 – West: Vicksburg, MS surrenders. Over 30,000 southern soldiers captured. The South is split at the Mississippi River. Grant’s star continues to rise.

    Result: Lincoln re-elected in 1864.

    1. Don’t forget that it was how Grant captured Vicksburg that impressed Lincoln. All previous efforts to take the city failed because the Union tried attacking it from the river. Grant did something unconventional by going at Vicksburg from behind through rough territory.

      The fact that Grant was willing to take a gamble was one reason that Lincoln eventually gave him command of the Union Army.

  13. I have not been able to confirm it yet but apparently the Canadian army and the rcmp are changing their recruits designation from private first class and constable first class to bellhop first class to coincide with their duties of helping illegals break Canadian law

  14. While protesters dangle, Trans Mountain work starts again

    Now we have an answer — work begins in earnest at the end of July on the 290-kilometre stretch of pipeline route between Edmonton and Jasper National Park.

    Work is also expected to start in late September in B.C.’s North Thompson region, according to notices issued Tuesday by Trans Mountain.

    At this stage, the work is mainly route preparation — clearing, surveying, flagging — the prelude to laying pipe starting in 2019.
