Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

I must say I have never heard of Steeper 33, but if CBC opposes this site there must be something good about it. I am still angry at Harper for not getting rid of CBC or at least privatizing it. CBC reminds me too much of the Pravda crap that my relatives were forced to endure.
I also think that the 9/11 truther movement bunch are deluded crackpots.
Agreed about Harper. It was an opportunity that may never come again, to finally go for the CBC’s throat. Especially after Rogers outbid them for NHL rights; if government funding had been massively slashed on top of that, it would’ve been the death of them. But we all know that Scheer hasn’t the spine to even dare suggest such a thing, so even if (big if) the milquetoast gets to form a government sometime in the next decade, the CBC will still be there, still going strong, still doing everything in its power to ensure that only Liberals and Liberals-lite run the country. Forever.
I agree with Ken Kulak. Well stated. Thank you
This tells you how pathetic they really are; ‘gaslighting’ a youtuber with a billion dollar budget.

The CBC does what the Lieberals tell it to do.

Never heard of steeper33. Now its bookmarked as a fave.
Everytime the “Conservatives” call for money, I tell them they get a $500 donation when they scrap the CBC.
I bookmarked it also.
The CBC just had 250 people in this backwater BC town to make a miniseries on the tainted blood scandal. 250??? That doesn’t sound like good use of taxpayer money to me.
Given how Harper was generally treated by the media, I did think the appropriate thing was to gradually whittle away at the CBC funding, rather than just eliminating it. There are too many (mostly older) folks who are passionate about the CBC, and Harper would have been portrayed as a monster. I think that is now changing, and I myself have changed by views. It seems like the more money they are given, the more out of touch they become. They are no longer central to understanding issues from a Canadian perspective. In fact, I think they are hurting national cohesiveness, rather than helping. They clearly choose to ignore one side of the political spectrum. You will remember that at an earlier point, people like Tom Flannigan and other conservatives were included in commentaries. I seldom see conservative views being represented at all. They are simply ignoring a giant chunk of the political spectrum to serve their own selfish manipulative ends. So I have changed my view. Get rid of them — I will now cheer such a move. Sheered only needs to put a few facts forward — like the cost vs. audience share. Then if he puts CBC existing funding to other Canadian programming or news sources — things like the Radio and Television Fund if that is still out there for Canadian productions, he could make a decent case for broadening the realm of Canadian content. Newspapers are cooperating by going down the tubes, so some CBC funding going to them in the short term would probably be acceptable to a lot of even CBC supporters. They are way too big a fat cow for the current social/cultural and political environment.
The CBC is an integral part of the institutional left. It also pretends to be a news organization once in a while, competing directly with its ideological clones in the private sector making it absolutely redundant. It is not significantly different philosophically than that of leftist university rags carrying on unrelated to the universities. I like Rex Murphy but he’s not worth a billion dollars a year of stolen loot. If the CBC were sold off as hardware and real estate in an attempt to ensure its toxic personnel were unemployed rather than under “new” management, I’m sure Rex would find a home at least at NP.
The “Conservatives”, and I use that term extremely loosely, are just another form of Liberal Government. Harper, came from the Reform movement, and still barely registered a Conservative pulse. A true Conservative would call things the way they are and then clean house when given the chance. Scheer, is the other side of a Trudeau coin, you decide which is heads or tails. When Pierre was PM, the PCs decided going with Milquetoast Clark was a great idea. Seems they never learn. Another Trudeau and another milquetoast leader. Best not vote and let the juices stew until people get fed up. Voting for Scheer would only squander an opportunity for change.
Who are these conservatives you are referring to? In Canada? There are conservatives out there who hold actual conservative views that could get eiected and form government? I’m from Missouri on that one.
There are few conservatives in Canada. Not enough to sway opinion on most days let alone govern as a conservative.
