Task complete

Welcome to the 21st century.

Conversion is done to WordPress. Faster, somewhat better anti-spam (Askimet instead of Typepad), recaptcha v2, threaded comments and time-limited comment editing for anonymous users.

I’ve imported up to 2006 and from 2014 up to the snapshot yesterday. I’m filling in the missing years, but that’s not important to the functioning of the blog.

There will probably be minor changes in the future.

Current and former authors who wish to continue should contact Kate as per normal for access instructions.

  1. Well lance, was the transition anywhere as easy as you guys made it seem?

I think the site looks great, congrats.

  2. Congratulations!

    Kate and Lance,

Thank you for all your hard, continuous work.

And we have five minutes to fix our typos!

  3. Love what you’ve done with the place Kate. Didn’t feel the need to get all fancy-schmancy too which is much appreciated. Nothing worse than a blog that thinks they’re the most indispensable site on the internet and so let’s load up my site so it looks like the Las Vegas Strip.

  4. Looks good. The “captcha” was getting absurdly frustrating, taking sometimes 15 minutes to go through. Congratulations, well done.

  5. One small detail that would be nice to maintain from old format would be opening the links in new tabs. Non-essential quality of life issue, but I don’t like to ever close SDA.

  6. Lots of fine tuning left to do, but it was important to get the basics done before the old Captcha expired.

    1. Seemed like that when you got the Captcha expiry message your comment went straight tyrough if you submitted

  7. Congratulations! It is looking good so far.
Click on the gopher to go to home, or right click on gopher to open in another tab.
Captcha is easy, hopefully it keeps the bots away.

OK, I see the edit feature now. Easy to use.

  8. Fantastic! Nice and simple on mobile.

Well done to you and the team! Looking forward to more brilliant content and the comments which bring so much balance and expands the discussions.

  9. Trying to post a link.

Just in case anybody forgot what Hamas’s ‘March of Return’ is really all about

It worked, but you have to right click in a new tab to open link and save original SDA tab.

  10. Looks good. Hopefully I can continue to comment as a guest. My previous comments were rejected, and I don’t know why. It may have something to do with the upgrade, but we’ll see.

  11. Awesome Job. Very well done!!!
I’m happy that I wont have to save my comment in Word, just in case my comment was held up by captcha

  12. Awesome!

The need for places like this on the web is greater than ever as the fascist Left continues to purge conservative/Christian speech from our culture.

  13. Congrats ! And eternal thanks for your diligent management of this fabulous e-“Townhall”

  14. Whoa! And a timeckocked EDITING function! DAMN … no more excuses for my sloppy editing!

  15. To the site admins, a small suggestion.
You may want to find a way to make the external links, at the top of most posts, open in a new window like the old site did.

    Thanks,
    Henry.

    1. Typical leftist talk, no respect for traditions or the dead, always just want the latest shiny new thing.

Didn’t everyone vote on naming that rodent a while back. If not we should.

    1. Ingraham is a TARGET … because she is “out” with her Christianity. What Hogg meant to tell her … was to get back into the closet. Faggs want to “get even” with straights … esp. Christians
The lad is so so clever. Meh.

  16. Nice change over.
But what happened to the posting just before?
That young lady from the statist’s party who is finding her way into the light, dismissing one fashionable idoicy at a time.
From progressive to what ? in less than a year.
I went back to give her another listen, but she was no more.
    Sure like the edit option.

  17. Looks great! Although I still remember the steam-powered site with fondness.

  18. tablet user…right handed…fingerbombed your links which are now on right, but i quickly adapted my scrolling. good job, appreciate the large font, clean page.

  19. Kate…

Can you make it so that when you click on a story it opens in a new tab?

  20. Like it..!! Clean and Easey to read – Love the edit function..!! Just tried it and it’s wonderful and surprisingly the timer resets after an edit.

    Kewl..!!

  21. The new site is great – thanks.

You provide an invaluable service to thinking Canadians! I don’t comment often, but visit almost every day.

Just made a modest donation to help keep things on an even keel.

    Thanks again!
