I can just see the conversation now between the application designers and programmers for their programs controlling self-driving vehicles:
“How do we program for convicted felons who are driving our cars? Should we also program for ‘undocumented immigrants’ at the wheel or is that racist?”
The sad fact is that self-driving cars are NOT READY for public exposure. The progressives trying to force their version of the future on Us won’t take “No” for an answer. Somebody high up the Uber food chain needs to go to jail for reckless public endangerment along with whatever Gov’t bureaucrats rubber stamped the approvals for Uber to do so.
The media would have you believe both women were accused of crimes.
The one killed was homeless and had been accused of drug involvement.

this is why uber (and a LOT of ‘new tech’ firms) is worth multi-billions. they nickel and dime on stuff like background checks.
No, no, no … UBER’s HR Dept. got EXACTLY what they wanted. They had to do penance after being “outed” as having a misogynist “frat boy” corporate culture. They got MASSIVE SJW points for hiring ex-con shims.
They have released the videos from the Uber vehicle and they are pretty damning. Hitting the pedestrian walking her bicycle couldn’t have been avoided but a good driver paying attention might have been able to swerve and avoid a direct impact.
But the back-up driver is looking down the whole time – texting, watching a video, who knows. Essentially just a passenger. Video here:
