I’m not pessimistic about that exactly because things could go really well, too. But I’d like to be remembered as part of the process that inflected things in a positive direction.”
“I think the idea that the postmodern radicals have launched an all-out assault against the categorical structure of western civilization is precisely what they claim,” he says. “The thing about people is they often tell you what they’re doing.”

  3. The world, it appears, needs not more Canada, but less.
Christie Blatchford: Queen’s joins the academic bullies against author of colonialism article
    http://nationalpost.com/opinion/christie-blatchford-queens-joins-the-academic-bullies
From the comments. “Thank God for the Bruce Gilley’s, the Jordan Peterson’s and the Christie Blatchford’s of our country…..Without them the “progressive left” would have, by now, achieved their goal of truth suppression and big brother control.” I might add Rick Mehta of Acadia University to that list.

  4. From the Jordan Peterson interview, “I think we’re at an inflection point right now and things could go really badly,”
I’m worried about Dr. Peterson. Stay well Dr. Peterson and keep on warning society about the darkness approaching and the efforts to shut him and others up. I am soon to be seventy-six and on the way out, but I am concerned that my four children, aged from 49 to 39, might have to go through what my grandparents and my wife’s grandparents went through in Russia 1917 – 1926.
The viciousness of the attacks on him are mind numbing.

  5. What a depressing story. The question I have started asking many of my friends is…
When did Christians, men in particular, become such friggin’ pussies?
I grew up in the Catholic School system and we had aggressive, competitive football teams, year after year. Other school kids that tried to mess with the ‘wimpy christians’ on our city streets soon learned we looked out for our own. But then, maybe that was strictly the Catholics, because they did train us hard that we were the only virtuous people bound for heaven on the entire planet. The only ones. In hindsight, talk about creating harmful divisions in a society…
Anyways, so now we once again witness christians willingly deny their own history to appease muslim adoring SJW’s. How embarrassing.
I think this connects directly to one of the inconvenient truths that commenters on this site do not like to address, which is the huge role that christian organizations have had in bringing in hordes of Islamic Invaders into the west. It’s willful blindness right up there with the deluded little fantasy that all leftards must be atheists and all Conservatives are christian. IMO, far too many christians now let political correctness(a contrarian morality by any definition) dictate their behavior instead of the teachings of the bible.
Now, my currently subservient christian friends, go do your civic duty and bake some homosexuals a wedding cake!

  6. When did Christians, men in particular, become such friggin’ pussies?
It’s been going on for at least 40 years. We have heresies such as liberation theology to thank for that.
Anyways, so now we once again witness christians willingly deny their own history to appease muslim adoring SJW’s. How embarrassing.
They do it because they believe that’s what Christ will have the do.
My freshman year roommate was quite religious. We kept in touch for a few years but that faded due to time and circumstance. Several months ago, I found out that he retired and is now a member in the United Church in the town where he lives now.
He’s been active in bringing over a Muslim “refugee” family, believing that he’s obeying some sort of divine ordinance–something about if one helps the poor and downtrodden, one is actually helping Christ, if I recall Scripture correctly.
It wouldn’t surprise me if he honestly believes that it’s God’s will that those “refugees” should be in this country. I’d wager that if they turned out to be jihadis and slit his throat or raped his wife, he’d be praising God for the blessing he’s received.
He, and many others like him, appear to suffer from the mistaken notion that standing up for what’s right and displaying courage and self-respect is sinful. It’s interpreted as vanity or some sort of disobedience against divine authority.
In reality, what people like him are engaging in is a form of ecclesiastical virtue-signalling. The more “refugees” one brings in, the more devout one is and, by doing so, one’s chances of eternal salvation are increased.
I guess I must have been reading the wrong Bible when I was younger.

  7. We’re going on a “peacekeeping” mission to Mali, under UN command, not (a lot ) more preferable Canadian commanders, on a dangerous mission. What could go wrong? Lots could go wrong. This incompetent government, again, selfishly puts our military men and women closer to harms way.
“(Conservative Defence Critic) Bezan said the Conservatives want to see Canada involved in more peacekeeping, including in Ukraine. But he said it must be in the national interest and in some cases, it may be preferable to fight under Canadian instead of UN command.”
“We know that this is incredibly dangerous,” Bezan said. “We support our troops and know they are completely capable of doing it. But we are hesitant about putting our troops in harms way under UN command.”
He said peacekeeping decisions should not be made based on nostalgia about blue helmets.”
“There is concern about how we are going to keep the peace when we have insurgencies, terrorism, failed states and multiple different missions going at the same time and no answers of how this is in Canada’s national interest,” he said.”
Mali has been in turmoil since a 2012 uprising prompted soldiers to overthrow the country’s president. The power vacuum that was created led to an Islamic insurgency and a French-led war that ousted the jihadists from power in 2013.”
However, insurgents remain active and the UN has seen its multinational peacekeeping force in the region suffer more than 150 fatalities since its mission began in 2013.”

  10. I got an ongoing and exceptionally serious issue with certain ‘caaaaRISTians’ where I *used to* attend.
fergive fergive fergive’ they drone on.
my reply in a nutshell, is it better to ‘fergive fergive fergive’ an onslaught of abuse and attacks to ‘be the martyr for the faith’ or to CLOBBER the abuser to END the attacks. jeeprs mr naive, got nothing to trot out after that to show your ‘devotion to scripture’.
got a laugh from a more sensible believer when I proposed I would ‘fergive’ the enemy for necessitating my resorting to violence
to put a swift END to THEIR aggression.

  11. baba streiiiiisand claims she’s never bin harassed in hollyweird.

    hmmm.
let me point out the following, ever since primary school I have learned to spot and experienced a LOT of discrimination based on my outward appearance. aka ‘horse face harry’
IOWs, n american females are inordinately focused on ‘cuteness’ ( justine TURDoo ring a bell?)
they are by and large very superficial, lOOking instead for handsome appearance, over integrity, BRAINS, ability to support, deep abiding respect and affection, yada yada yada.
so my answer, given that is my experience ms streiiiiisand (emphasis on the ‘I’), ummm, yer schnoze keeps getting in the way.
you might have great pipes and repertoire, but you are VERY plain looking, thus the superficial and hard core disrespectful males keep looking for a ‘hot babe’. and THAT is why you can claim to have never experienced harassment.
plainly speaking YOU dont give them a boner.

  12. The leftists in the church are quick to invoke “Thou shalt not kill” when it came to fighting communism (usually used as an excuse for bashing America). They are, however, either silent, if not praising, any “liberation struggle”, provided it is based on their favourite “ol’ time religion”, namely Marxism/Leninism/Stalinism/Maoism/Castroism/Guevaraism.
In other words, they see defending oneself against communism as a sin. Nowadays, that could be extended to that “religion of peace”.

  13. Its safe to say, that, when it comes to the United “Church”, it was overtaken years ago by the PC/NDP mindset. Look at its practices and who goes there now. BDS is a solid policy of the United Church, for example.
The Anglican church is also a hollow shell of its former self, thanks to the same. Isn’t Lizard May a “minister”?
Both deviate from scripture whenever possible, so long as it justifies modern secular thinking. See that ol scripture was written so long ago, it has to be out of date……….
Sorry, can’t take either of these ‘churches’ seriously at all, this coming from someone who sang in Father Ray’s Anglican choir many years ago. It was a different church then. And let’s not talk about the current leadership of the RC church, that’s the darkest path one can explore.

  14. One thing for sure, she will have no credibility when she visits a senior’s centre, or any venue where those over 50 are likely to be there in significant numbers.

  15. Most of the Lutheran denominations I know of here in Canada aren’t far from what you describe. The blatant leftism they’ve adopted as “divine” doctrine is one reason I eventually drifted away from the church.

  16. A solution in search of a problem
    sierra-leone-just-ran-the-first-blockchain-based-election/

The citizens of Sierra Leone went to the polls on March 7 but this time something was different: the country recorded votes at 70% of the polling to the blockchain using a technology that is the first of its kind in actual practice.

The tech, created by Leonardo Gammar of Agora, anonymously stored votes in an immutable ledger, thereby offering instant access to the election results.

“Anonymized votes/ballots are being recorded on Agora’s blockchain, which will be publicly available for any interested party to review, count and validate,” said Gammar. “This is the first time a government election is using blockchain technology.”

At the end of the article:

As for the election it is still unclear who won and there will be a run-off election on March 27.

So much for that instant access to the results.

  17. The article mentions an “acceptable plurality of votes”. Does that mean that there were people who voted more than once?
Yeah, that’ll cut down on voter fraud, won’t it?

  18. on the topic of msm:
watched an episode of ‘the civil war’ (pbs production) quoting Wm Tecumseh Sherman’s total disdain and suspicion of reporters who would put THOUSANDS of lives in jeopardy to ‘get the story’ by spilling the beans on military tactics and plans.
folks, they’ve been at it a LONG long time.
cue the chickens and the roost !!!

  24. She blamed Trump for her gaining weight. Apparently, pancakes smothered in syrup are her comfort food and she claims that, after his election, she’s been in great distress.

  25. I hadn’t heard that. Ha ha.
Wasn’t she threatening to move to Canada if Trump won?
I will give her this. She can sing.
