    When I was a colt we took our guns to school. We hunted on the way home. I lived 3 miles from the school and would jump shoot ducks in the ponds on the way home – and then strip naked to retrieve them.
    As recently as the late 90’s a buddies daughter used to take her gopher gun to school strapped to the handlebars of her bike. It was a country school and nobody said a word.
    The world has changed. Masculinity is in serious decline. Young boys have little chance of becoming men. Sheltered by their mothers, protected at all cost they never find out what it takes to be a man. Very often their own fathers are cowed by the woman they married. What kind of a role model is that?
    They spend all their time playing violent video games that feature running over prostitutes with cars and slamming woman’s heads in car doors. Yeah your ‘da man.

    A couple times back in the 1960s kids in my class brought 22s on the bus for school plays. Nobody blinked. But that ain’t nothing. My room mate at the U of Alberta student residence told me he had 50 pounds of dynamite in his closet but not to worry as the blasting caps were in his car. I slept like a baby. Another student on the same floor had a legally registered pistol in his room. Where else was he supposed to keep it?
