Canada’s murder rate is actually the lowest it’s been in decades.
You know what? Most people do not live their lives based on statistics. Most people deal with real life experiences. Whether or not you are are concerned about the murder rate probably is related to where you live. I know someone who had two separate murders happening in her apartment building. She decided to move. But who knows if those building statistics were up or down from 20 years ago. Two murders might have been an all-time low for all we know. Your comment is not at all relevant.
That was a pathetic effort from Coyne. Clearly most people did not think the speech was delivered at a funereal pace. What a jerk, Coyne is. He does a lot of intellectual posturing — trying to put himself above the hoi polloi (That’s us!). I mostly do not waste time reading him anymore and this column was way off base. Trump was engaging and struck many positive and inspiring notes. I actually found the speech — with the various guests and stories I did not know to be very engaging. Some of the comments in response to Coyne’s column were good though. Such as, someone asks:
“When did Coyne turn into such an idiot”. My answer is that he must have always been, but we only started to notice when he was busy endorsing the current PM over Harper — what a huge misjudgment that was. I simply do not respect his opinion anymore.
