This week’s lead story features the imminent return of the Ice Age to UK – good news for those looking forward to a White Christmas. After that the usual mix: record production from the Permian, Putin replaces petroleum with natural gas; New England replaces natural gas with petroleum; nuclear plant restarts and shutdowns in Japan; German factories paid for using electricity; batteries and the California Duck Curve, solar in the Canadian Arctic; renewables in South Korea; the Scotland-Wales transmission link, UK frackers running out of time; the brutal US-Canada cold snap; Santa relocates to the South Pole and a Happy New Year to all.
“Putin also pointed at Gazprom as an example of how (natural) gas fuel saves money. When the company switched to gas fuel, many of its drivers retired because they no longer had an opportunity to steal gasoline.”
did I read it correctly, one article recommended solar panels for electricity generation in the great white (and dark) Canadian north?
It’s the same logic we get from the Doom and Gloom crowd, that Warming causes massive cold spells and record cold.
Propaganda
Maybe we should be following Trump’s lead,

Perhaps until we get our own house in order, First Nations, Veterans, Health care, education, etc., we should discontinue sending Canadian taxpayers dollars to Foreign aid and the UN.
We’ve been sending Pakistan about $100 million a year for the last ten years or so on average. They have a navy that is roughly the same size as ours but with only about .5% the size of our coastline.

I believe that natural gas has been oversold in December hitting the mid $2.50’s before finally rebounding…every time the potential for cold weather came up there was what seemed to be a prepared response that it was only short term and the longer trend in late winter is for warmer weather. Storage has been below the 5yr average since storage withdrawals started in the first half of November. The Dec 21st draw was 112 bcf with two or three MUCH colder weeks of heavy draws coming in the 200 to 300 bcf range (well above the 5 yr average numbers). Nat Gas prices peaked last year near $4 – a full $1+ less than now without the historic cold and storage is less. It will be interesting to see if the bears can hold the Henry Hub gas price down next week in the face of a bitterly cold Mother Nature.
I am getting so tired of all this WINNING!
Damn straight we should tie financial aid to performance! Wasn’t this the country that “hid” Osama bin Laden in plain view? They OWE America a little conscientious effort on defeating FUNDAMENTALIST radical Islamic jihadism. Didn’t Bush “say” … “you’re either for us, or against us” … and then DO NOTHING to follow up on his “tough guy” talk.
Well I’m burning more wood.
*sigh* I hate the cold. Stupid polar vortex. I WISH global warming was real.
If only I could go back to the Jurassic period. Earth has been manic long before hippies, Liberals, lousy politicians & enviro cults were invented.
