    Sir Isaac Newton was also born on this day in 1642, so observe his laws of motion by shooting some pool, engage in some astronomy by looking through a reflecting telescope, or solve a few problems in calculus.

  15. A merry Christmas to all here. My wish for a white Christmas here in south-central Iowa has been granted. It’s beautiful (but don’t tell anybody – I don’t want people moving here and ruining it). This has been quite a wonderful year for me. I hope that it’s been wonderful for all of you, as well.

  25. Merry Christmas to all. I am spending the week at Lake Tahoe, with all my (adult) kids in tow … including my Canadian future son in law. Truly blessed. A white Christmas from the early season snow, just enough early snow to ski … but it will be a dry, snowless week. Such are the horrors of Global Warming in CA! Hey! I think I just saw Jerry Brown shoveling snow from the steps of a neighboring cabin! Ha. Just a little Christmas laughter.
    I can see Kate is having a Happy Christmas with Raylan jumping for Joy. I hope Lance, and all the other readers of SDA are surrounded by their loved ones, and have a WONDERFUL Holiday. And Merry Christmas to all.

  28. I can appreciate your pleasure from your dogs.We just got 2 Jack Russell puppies in the last 4 months and they have been an absolute delight.Lots of work as well but an incredible amount of Joy.

    It’s appropriate that you should mention this work. On December 25, 1989, it was performed in the former East Berlin in celebration of the opening of “die Mauer”. For that occasion, conductor Leonard Bernstein substituted the word Freiheit for Freude, which, on that day, were considered synomymous:

    Indeed. My parents felt the same way about all of the dachshunds over the years. The last one was adopted when my father died and the little guy has proven to be endless fun for his new family.

    Of course not. But they’re using flawed logic. If “climate change” affects all of us everywhere, wouldn’t the Antarctic ice cap eventually disappear as well? If that’s the case, wouldn’t Santa’s moving there be completely pointless?
    Then again, we’re dealing with lefties here. Logic, reason, and fact are obstacles to their objectives.

  38. The suspiciously named John E. Hoover had from day one been investigating the Las Vegas shooting. This is his summary from December 1st.
    I find it very credible although not necessarily completely true (Personally I’m a bit suspicious of motive, it could also have been a heist or drug cartels trying to muscle in on Las Vegas, these groups would have the organizational ability and ruthlessness…) My first thoughts were an FBI sting that went horribly wrong but there was a noticeable lack of suicidal zeal among the perpetrators in what appeared to be a highly organized effort. And then the helicopters became apparent. There is another video somewhere that does a very good analysis of air traffic.
