Laurier’s President retreats to her safe-space.
After listening to this recording, an apology is in order. The conversation I heard does not reflect the values and practices to which Laurier aspires. I am sorry it occurred in the way that it did and I regret the impact it had on Lindsay Shepherd. I will convey my apology to her directly. Professor Rambukkana has also chosen to apologize to Lindsay Shepherd about the way the meeting was conducted.
I remain troubled by the way faculty, staff and students involved in this situation have been targeted with extreme vitriol. Supports are in place at the university to support them through this situation.
If they don’t want to be targeted, maybe they shouldn’t be extremists, eh?

The narrative – we are so smart ,you will only repeat what we consider correct.
The truth – They are overtly racist ( aka the comments about Texas and Alberta .
The facts – If brains were dynamite they couldn’t blow their nose .
I couldn’t stand to listen to it all .
With these people who are “disturbed” not needing to identify themselves or even let it be known how many there are, or what is disturbing them, there is no way to combat them. How can we determine if there is merit in the accusation? There will no longer be any such thing as a false accusation.
With the “logic” of these inquisitors, a history professor, for example, could not teach on the Lincoln Douglas debates.
“They are young adults and they don’t have the critical tool kit.”
So here they have arrived at University and it’s still to early to try to teach them to have a critical tool kit?
Unless I missed something I never read the words, “we were wrong” or “we went after you to make an example of you to others who believe in freedom of speech” or “our policies are wrong”. All I read was, damn we got caught with our hands in the cookie jar now lets talk a bunch of munbo-jumbo that’s meant to sound good but mean nothing. Reading between the lines I think that the next time this bunch have someone on the carpet with the intention of crucifying them they’ll prevent them from taping the verbal torture. Thank God I did my university decades ago because I couldn’t survive in one of those hell holes today. BTW, I’m a “HE”.
