  1. The press has done a pretty good job of discrediting itself. I would like to attend one of his talks, but I would probably be barred. I have a few pointed questions he no doubt doesn’t want to answer in the name of increasing press credibility.

  2. “-giving up on the public.”
Giving up what, trying to indoctrinate us? Good.
Stop being the Gate Keepers and propagandists and just give us ALL of the facts. That is your real job.
We’ll do our own analysis and decide what those facts mean.

  3. “Hearing more reports of some journalists – an embittered minority – giving up on the public. ‘If they don’t believe us, nothing we can do.'”
“The press has done a pretty good job of discrediting itself.”
Yes indeed. Until those journalists come to terms with their own failings, their credibility will remain at a nadir.
Here’s a tip to them: denial won’t help.

  4. That twitter feed reads like a group of proselytizers who believe they are doing the lord’s work.

  5. All of the above. Most journalists are lower on the believably scale than used car salesmen.
Even our local 650 radio news readers, do they actually believe half of the biased political junk they try to feed us? I guess enough people swallow it.

  6. That’s the question, isn’t it, Oz … giving up on what? That we no longer have newspapers delivered to our driveway each morning? Or that we don’t believe their FAKE news? The FACT is, that the press shouldn’t even HAVE an opinion about US. None. They should simply be REPORTING the News. Without OPINION, without BIAS.
What this statement reveals, is that the Press is actively TRYING to sway the public’s opinion. That their sole purpose is to lead the public around by the nose. This statement is an ADMISSION of their nefarious (they thought) mission. How DARE the press assume they are somehow “smarter” than the public. However, they are only behaving like their Marxist-Statist overlords, who believe in their own “superiority” and treat the public like Medievil Serfs. Yes, the press are all Marxists … they are ALL Statists … they believe the public … YOU … are an IDIOT.
The public’s answer to their ignorant stupidity … MY President Trump! The “genius” press has FAILED in their (now) self-admitted “mission” … the public has acted in OUR best self-interest … not THEIRS. The press is getting MY Darwin Award for 2016-2017.

  7. Kenji…I would argue that they have been doing this for at least 40 years…at least the CBC has. Social engineering it used to be called. Ever since Universities started with their BS of the Humanities and Womens Studies etc…they were turning out Far leftist indoctrinated Teachers..and those teachers indoctrinated the children who later on went to Journalism School & Political “science” (AKA learning how to become a leader by promising EVERYTHING and delivering squat.) I think it started around the time of the Moon Landings…What we have today CNN, MSNB, NYT, WaPo, CBC, BBC etc. is such a joke as to make the gossip rags look like genuine gospel.
WE can see how much they have infected our populace:
    BC: Marxists/Eco loons in power
    Alberta: Marxists in Power
Ontario; Liberals (Marxists in sheeps clothing)
    Federal Govt: Liberals (Globalist Marxists)
Quebec: Frenchman in power – Freeloaders and Anti Oil fascists.
Our Media – as Far Left as it gets.
Anyone know when the next meteor is due…??

  8. When I was at Ryerson in the late seventies Jack Layton was teaching City Politics to Journalism Students. My economics teacher worked for CIDA, the federal agency that enriched third world dictators. My English Lit teacher was Constance Beresford Howe who wrote and taught from a decidedly feminist angle. The list goes on. The journalism instructors were, by today’s standards, the conservatives on campus. So this has been going on for a long time. It’s my generation that took the left turn and made every story about themselves. I’m glad I never worked in the field.

  9. It’s been 63 years since a local paper made up a harmless human interest story about my dad. Total fabrication.

  10. On local news on CTV Edmonton last night, they reported about a world wine shortage because of changing climate. What they didn’t report was that it was because of unseasonal frost, not because of global warming. The lies supporting their narrative permeate every nook and cranny of the the industry.

  11. fact checking:
when coke (cocaine) hit the streets real big back in what, 70s? I recollect clearly a newspaper article announcing it was not, assuredly NOT an addictive drug.
any news story I have had involvement or direct observation of, they always and without exception got it wrong in some way.

  12. It was the ’80s. Remember the TV show Miami Vice? Coke dealers would trade coke directly for weapons in Miami back then, in real life.
    Of course cocaine is addictive.
Sigmund Freud was famous as a psychiatrist specifically for his success in helping cure cocaine addicts in the 19th century when coke was legal.
