Years ago, we had Deer populations that were eating our gardens, kicking through the walls of wooden bins and causing countless collisions on the highway. Saskatchewan Wildlife did nothing to help us. Finally we took the bull by the horns. I won’t write how we handled it, but trust me that very shortly after, populations were down considerably.
That clip reminds me of the moose walking through town as seen in the opening credits of the TV show Northern Exposure.
Thirty years ago, I lived in a section of Medicine Hat that was near the outskirts of the city. It wasn’t unusual to have smaller wildlife come up from the river valley into our residential area.
One night, I was walking home through a park near my apartment when I saw two deer wandering around. They quickly skedaddled by running across the main drag and back down the hill towards the river.
I don’t think that they did any damage. For all I know, they were there simply to feed or were there just out of curiosity. Still, it was rather unusual to find deer in such close proximity to humans.
In our corner of suburbia we got deer too as well as all sorts of other critters including coyotes, unfortunately we have three humping town council that tells us to be careful about coyotes and not approach them. Also we’re told that if get rid of coyotes we will have more foxes, just like apparently getting rid of wolfs led to more coyotes… when I asked about a downside of trading coyotes for foxes and for that matter wolfs for coyotes they got confused.
If anything like the councilors we have in many regions, asking them what direction the wind is blowing and getting the right answer maxes them out for a week!
I have a pair of FEARLESS wild turkeys that stray from the neighborhood gaggle to eat flowers (and bugs) in my rear yard. I pick lemons off my tree and hurl them at the mated pair, but all they do is scurry for a few steps and then start coming at me … the two are completely PSYCHO-turkeys! I have to admit … they frighten me a little bit as they look rather mangy … and act like they just don’t give a shit. You know, like some big dude with dead eyes in a bar fight who keeps coming at you despite getting solidly hit.

Apparently, while my father was still alive, grouse used to come to the house and eat some of the ants that took up residence on the front lawn. That was the reason he used for not getting rid of the latter.
Ever since I started going back to the house, I’ve never seen any grouse there. I wasn’t going to wait if they showed up, so I did my best during the spring and summer to evict the ants. I think some of them got the message.
During the winter of ’10 there was a lot of snow. A cow moose moved in and started eating the planted shrubs. Mrs ab said the moose had to go. Out came the slingshot. A few marbles on the skull plate and the moose vacated. It came back the next day for another session. One marble reminded it that the yard was an unpleasant place to feed. Mission accomplished.

After hearing about this payout I was mad enough to chew nails and spit rust, however in the last few hours I’ve calmed down somewhat and have come up with this little lesson for all of the Liberals and their trolls out there that voted for this collection of crooks that are selling/giving this country away.
I’ve worked for forty plus years and paid taxes in all those years. For the most part the work has been blue-collar, heavy construction with some occasional unemployment. I’ve chased the buck across the country working where the work was when I was able. In all that time I’ve tried to live up to the values that my immigrant parents instilled in me, like self-responsibility, and hard work, save for your future, and be a contributor to the country. I figured out this morning that although I didn’t have a high paying career I did make a reasonable living for myself and my family. Now comes the hard part for the Liberals to understand. If I average my yearly incomes over the course of my working career I probably averaged about $50K per year, (starting at about $15K a year back in the late Sixties to the $80K just before I retired). So for simplicity $50K per year for forty years (50,000 x 40) works out to about $2,000,000. You can accept the numbers here or reject them I don’t give a damn, but to the best of my recollections these are the numbers I remember. Work out your own lifetime earnings and see what you come up with.
So this latest collection of Liberal crooks has handed out to four ‘questionable’ Canadians roughly 20 times what it took me over forty years to earn, and I paid the taxes on my earnings that allow the Liberals to make these hand-outs. And then to top it all I’m supposed to feel relieved that we have honoured our Charter of Rights and our obligation to these ‘hard-done-by’ “citizens”.

In Canada we are already paying for mistreatment of Natives in residential schools. What is going on here? Why are we even paying for people who supposedly were badly treated in Syria. Let the courts award the compensation, and then send the bill to Syria. They can collect from Syria.
In Canada we are already paying for mistreatment of Natives in residential schools. We are also paying for the Sixties Scoop — where children were taken from Native families and put in foster care (I presume because they were in danger). The complaint is that they were not fostered in Native homes . . . right, those were the homes they were taken from because they were ill treated. How many at the time were available to provide foster care? Unbelievable how many ways people have discovered to milk the system. In the mean time, many public services (e.g. health care) got to pot and taxes go up.
All the while, the stupids in this country continue to elect Liberals. This is so misguided. We may need a revolution to turn things around.
