I might have a lot more sympathy for the mayor’s position if he stopped pumping raw sewage into the river because his corrupt government can’t come up with the money need to build a proper sewage treatment plant.

Hey the Globalist Libranos shut down the northern seaway of BC (“moratorium”) without a peep from the Media… I’m sure the reaction or non reaction would be the same if the Libranos shut down the St. Lawrence… better yet, it may get Quebec to stop pretending to “separate” and actually separate for real… ha, ha, naaaa, just kidding. Everyone knows the threat of Quebec separation is an extortion technique not a reality.
It surprises me that anyone still thinks that Central Canada is an ally of Western Canada. They never were. It has always been an exploitive arrangement that benefits Central Canada. Ironically, this has made the West the strongest region in Canada since they cannot count on Ottawa and Central Canada. The sooner the West understands this the sooner we can quit wasting time and effort attempting to reason with Central Canada. We should apologetically pursue our own interests with other countries and try to limit the damage inflicted on us by federal politicians by increasing decentralization. Why pretend we’re all in this together when it’s obvious that is not the case. Do any important industries in Quebec and Ontario have to account for upstream and downstream emissions- Bombardier or auto industry, for instance?
Personally, I’ve never felt any type of bond to the people and places east of Manitoba. Apathy and disinterest. To me it feels as if they’re more like a different country. A country I have very little in common with.

However they are fast-enough to escape; all pleasure boats, container ships (although the US military is too slow to evade the blunt force trauma of container ships), ferrys, tug boats, the Greenpeace fleet, and especially fast enough to evade whale-watching eco-cruises. The idiocy one has to believe to HATE oil … is quite astounding.

Why are we no banishing all OIL TANKERS from the St Lawrence just like Trudeau did on the WEST COAST…OIL SPILLS, HE SAID…SEEMS TO MAKE SENSE TO ME. And if Quebec decides to go, it goes with only the territory it brought into Confederation, not that ceded to it by successive federal governments. As late as the 1950’s, the northern parts of Quebec were English-speaking and essentially part of the NWT. Don’t know exactly when they were ceded, but do know the locals weren’t impressed. Gaining control of these territories was what allowed Quebec to exploit the hydroelectric potential of the area.

Don t you guys realize that there are different rules in place for East and West coast shipping. First of all former Liberal PM Paul Martin does not have any ships operating in the area in question on the West coast. The Holy Trinity of Quebec business, Canada Steamship Lines, Power Corporation and Bombardier must never be inconvenienced.
I long ago suggested to PM Socks that he should fast track Energy East to stop Saudi oil, er save the whales.
