“Organic” Is The Latin Word For “Grown In Pig Shit”

NRO;

A blistering report issued this week by the U.S. Department of Agriculture exposes the failure of government officials to ensure the integrity and safety of organic-food imports. Over the past several years, there has been a huge spike in organic imports — particularly corn and soybeans — to keep pace with consumer demand; more than 100 countries now ship organic products here. The USDA’s National Organic Program (NOP) is tasked with making sure those countries meet our rigorous organic standards, but it is a dubious system based largely on reciprocity and good faith, not tight controls and federal enforcement.

  1. First we had …”conflict oil” … now we have … “conflict organic soybeans and corn” … direct from Turkey.
    Thank you Obama.

  2. Given that the organic label is based on arbitrary determinations and irrational fears, we should not be concerned (nor surprised) by fakery of labeling. Let the whole hysteria implode on its own, and be properly lelegated to the dustbins of history.

  3. If, as a number of people believe that the eggs where made in a factory, maybe using wheat as a source stock then those eggs would be manufactured and obviously not organic

  4. I think the organic industry exists because they weren’t fleecing enough gullible people in Health Food outlets.
Having spent a good part of my professional life in sales/marketing, I am surely dismayed at the current low low standard for accuracy and truth in advertising. Even if I “believed in” organic foods, I would be wary of any and all product claims. It is an industry ripe with boastful and unfounded proclamations.
I also think that to many people the buying of organic foods is just another way to virtue signal.

  5. Generally people want to believe in magic and there has always been a gullible and easy mark out there more than willing to shell out their hard-earned money for the latest ‘snake oil’. So-called organic is just the latest thing to find an easy trade with the logically challenged.

  6. My guess is that the vast majority of organic products are fake. You cannot successfully grow fruit and vegetables without fertilizer and pesticides. End of story.

  7. 100 countries now ship “organic” … meaning 100 countries have such advanced food controls they can ship here? Really? 100 countries?

  8. My guess is that the vast majority of organic products are fake. You cannot successfully grow fruit and vegetables without fertilizer and pesticides. End of story.
hehe, although the way some people go on about food production you’d think they believe that. You also don’t even need “organic pesticides” either.

  9. It was about 50 years ago that (proud Canadian) Joni Mitchell wrote Give me spots on my apples, but leave me the birds and the bees
Now … go down the “organic” aisle at the supermarket or “farmers” market … and find me the produce that has spots. I’ll wait … dum dum de dum dum dum … I’ll just hum Joni’s eco-song … dum dum de dum dum dumb …
Yes … not a single branch, stalk, or seedpod (aka Apple) has a single spot on it whatsoever. And if it does … it doesn’t sell and is tossed in the trash. Sooooo typical of the shallow eco leftist mentality. There isn’t a single eco-leftist, “organic” shopper who will put blemished fruit in their bag. None. And if you think all this shiny, perfect, pristine, “organic” fruit got that way because the farmer unleashed millions of ladybugs to eat all the aphids and other “organic” methods of pest control … then you are as DUMB as a Tesla driver who actually believes they are “saving the planet”. Or you are as DUMB as the voter who believes that filthy rich 1%-er Elizabeth Warren actually WANTS the 1% to pay their “fair share”. Or that Liz is a “Native American” as described under the affirmative-action rules intended to cripple white women like Warren.
The WORST marketing campaign used to sell “organics” is the FAKE “virtue signaling” promised for shopping “organic”. The average Whole Foods shopper in my neighborhood actually BELIEVES that they are “saving the planet”, “saving their children from autism, et.al.”, and “improving their own health” … by eating only “organic”. Pampered, rich, twits … the whole lot of em.

  10. ah yes, the old ‘self-regulating’ scam.
a favorite of Conservatists who resent ‘gubbamint regerlayshun’

  11. Im gonna call up Ms Mitchell and ask if she has any blemished warty contorted apples to spare. I wanna make a pie and throw it at someone.

  12. This report is not talking about recent developments, but about those who happened under Obama’s administration, which was hardly Conservative in any way, shape, or form.

  13. you would be as well, some of course are dumber than others. Once more for your benefit all food is organic.

  14. as I said to the clownazz, all food is organic. if you wish to say the foods were grown without chemicals of any sort do so, but that does not make foods grown using chemicals un-organic.
