  5. French Minister Warns of the Dangers of Salafism — In 1928

It seems that the Communist agitators are interested in it, as they are interested in anything that can disturb the established order, exalt particularisms and cause confusion. But even if it is not used by European elements hostile to our influence, the “Salafi” movement does not fail to present, from the point of view of public order and the maintenance of our authority, serious dangers against which it is necessary to protect ourselves.

  7. Defined benefit pensions bankrupted GM, Air Canada, every company that kept them. For this reason, no privately owned company on the planet will give you one; yet there is no government on the planet that will NOT hand them out.
No Sask Party leader wannabe is talking about taking on the unions, and stopping the Cloward-Piven pensions. None of them are talking about leaving confederation to protect Saskatchewan from the excesses of Ontario and Quebec. We are literally on the Titanic, and nobody will even acknowledge the obvious problems.

  8. The Sask Party and NDP are similar in so many ways that one has to squint to find a difference.

  9. What is that definition of insanity, something about doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. If that is true then Canadians are all insane. We keep voting the Liberals back into power and we expect that things are going to change. We didn’t learn from the Chretien government purchasing the ‘used’ subs from Britain, now we have the Trudeau-la-deux government trying to contract a deal with Australia to buy ‘used’ jets.

Canadians, as Elizabeth May once proclaimed, really are stupid. We voted in an ‘ingenue’ that we were warned about not being ready. Now we have the boy wonder that is about to repeat, arguably, the costliest program in Canadian Defence contracts. He is also about to tax small business owners,(read doctors, dentists, farmers etc., etc.,) into oblivion. He has expanded our foreign aid program into awarding funds to individuals, (Clintons and Khadrs). He is doing all of this while poking us in the eye with his ‘smarmy socks’ and his selfies taken at all the LGBTuxyz whatever parades and his admonishment that “We” have to be more accepting and welcome illegal aliens, migrants, and refugees that are stretching our societal capabilities to the breaking point.
Yes, Elizabeth, Canadians really are STUPID!!!!!

CALEDON, Ont. — A new pilot project at a high school in Ontario will see Grade 9 students negotiating their end-of-semester grades with their teacher, an idea some experts say will help keep the focus on learning.
At the end of the term, they’ll sit down with the teacher and evaluate their course work and will, ideally, come to an agreement on an appropriate final grade.

  11. That should work well with the Socialist agenda that is well entrenched in Ontario. In team sports there can be no winners so it fits there should be no failures in any school subjects. Students will never accept a low or failing grade. What’s next, no exams at all, just show up for classes?

He also predicted that the southern tip of Florida would be hit by a major hurricane, one that would move northward through the state after making landfall, and that this southern Florida zone overall would enter the strongest and most active hurricane cycle since the period from 1945 to 1950 (65 to 70 years ago). “After multi-agency response, report of diapers floating in river turns out to be foam”
“Her organization, however, is neither a government agency nor a response organization. It does have a pollution hotline, which attempts to match up reports of pollution to the agencies responsible. That is not always easy on the Ottawa River, which is touched by two municipalities in the Nation Capital Region, two provinces and the federal government, which is responsible for navigation and some aspects of pollution.
Brown said her agency called a pollution hotline and representatives from Ontario’s Ministry of the Environment checked out the report and found it to be mistaken.

    DISASTER RELIEF
I found my local disaster relief manager in his bunker, staring fixedly at his computer screen, tracking the latest path of this week’s super hurricane. When I asked if he was going to call on the Cajun Navy he reminded me we were in Kansas, but said Morgan’s Creek might bear watching.
He glanced up from his screen and said
    We bureaucrats are far ahead
Of amateurs and other body types
You see those shelves on yonder wall
    There’s regulations for us all
And cardboard boxes full of handy wipes
This bunker here is built to last
And if the creek is rising fast
We’re safe and sound in here all shut up tight
I’ve got my big computer screen
With isobars in red and green
And when disaster strikes I spend the night
    And when emergency is nigh
And Morgan’s Creek is getting high
I know who is at fault and who to blame
    Home Depot has my telephone
And if I need to a further loan
The government will back me so they claim
So we don’t need no amateurs
To help us with these little chores
Like hurricanes and blizzards and the like
    The teletype sends warnings out
There are things there to think about
And then I sigh and put them on the spike”

  16. After the malarkey I saw and had to contend with as a post-secondary educator, having the kiddies negotiate their grades doesn’t surprise me.
Thanks for this nonsense goes to those bone-headed educationists who came up with the idea of the “student as customer”.

  17. What’s next, no exams at all, just show up for classes?
The place where I used to teach was pretty close to that. The standards there were so low that it seemed that all one needed to do to graduate was to spell the institution’s name correctly and, of course, pay one’s fees.

  18. I’m throwing this question out to the SDA regulars in the hope somebody can steer me in the right direction.
So this article has been making the Internet outrage rounds. I assume everyone here understands the wisdom of “job, marriage, house, children, in that order”. Life choices matter.
Of late, I’ve been coming into social contact with a number of very young (but still >= 18, which means they don’t qualify for “teen mom” programs) single mothers who pretty much screwed up all the life choices stuff. Most of them are going to continue making bad choices, but one or two of them have said “Yeah, I messed up my life, but nobody taught me what the right thing to do was, and that doesn’t help me now. What are the right life choices for me _now_.” And I don’t have an answer for that.
As far as I can tell, what most of these women need is both life skills and an attitude adjustment away from the welfare entitlement/victim mentality. Most government social services seem to mostly be about keeping them on the dole rather than helping them get off of it.
Does anyone know of any bootstrap/boot camp/get your sh*t together kind of programs I could direct these people to? Something aimed at single mothers with young children? Child care is usually the thing that screws up the “learn a trade, get a job” route out of poverty.

  19. I stand by my statement that “All Canadians are STUPID!”, because we, who are in the majority, put up with this Bozo and his government instead of demanding a recall. 60% of Canadians did not vote for the programs that this government has tabled, yet we are the ones paying for them. How stupid is that? On a similar vein about stupidity, the education system in this country has been digging a hole for itself for three generations now and they’re about to hit bedrock. We are importing thousands of new immigrants, migrants and refugees that have to be taught either English or French, adults and children alike. For this task we have hired thousands of teachers to accommodate this influx. Meanwhile our health care system has been neglected for three generations and now we are running out of GP’s, and sundry other professions in the health field, why? We have allowed a class of so called ‘educated’ illiterates to dictate our life styles and when they screw up we calmly accept the outcome instead of demanding their resignations or ousting them by recall. The disproportionate amount Canadians spend in Foreign aid, the financial starvation of our Armed Forces to the extent that we are now in a position that we cannot sustain our forces in the field, and taxes (carbon tax, hydro rates, etc., etc.,)that are rising faster than our cost of living and yet we do nothing! Yeah, we’re not Stupid, we’re so SCHMART it hurts.

  21. VDH shows again he gets the gig of the lefties and their selective and hypocritical outrage, equating sedition to somehow some historic “resistance,” with crooked Hillary playing Gen De Gaulle and the Antifa thugs pretending they share a single characteristic with those brave men who stormed the beaches of Normandy and elsewhere saying “We went where they sent us,” rather than “my iPhone battery is low, or where do I get my Soros bucks, at $25/hour, or perhaps per diem per assault.
And of course my favourite projection bigotry, I can’t argue against common sense, so it will be labelled hate speech, which is of course is an attack on left wing kooks, who must therefore “defend” themselves. As VDH shows, it’s so obviously Orwellian, hypocritical and against anything resembling liberty of American values that built that nation:
“The Democratic National Committee leaders in their speeches resort to scatology to reflect their furor at Trump’s victory. The media, led by CNN in its visceral hatred of Trump, has given up past pretenses of disinterested reporting. Indeed, a number of journalists have sought to ratify their prejudices by claiming that Trump is so toxic that old-style protocols of fairness can no longer can apply.”
Street brownshirts such as those of Antifa (too rarely and belatedly disowned by a few mainstream Resistance leaders) justify their anti-democratic and anti-constitutional violence on the grounds that Trump is found guilty of being a Nazi — and therefore those alleged to be Nazis have to be resisted by any anti-Nazi means necessary.”
All political mayhem deserves equal condemnation if we are to deplore crime itself rather than to massage politics out of it, such as when a leftist assassin tried to take out many of the Republican House leadership at a D.C.-area baseball game or when a recent serial killer in Kansas City went on an anti-white rampage and murdered five innocents — grotesquely acting out his prior assertions that he hated white people (“kill all white people”).”
Somehow these acts do not warrant the same amount of attention as the equally deplorable violence in Charlottesville. When everything is politicized and calibrated in terms of careerist advantage, there can be no politics other than a quiet resistance to the entire idea of politics itself. Every leftist movement, from Lenin’s to Castro’s, serves first an apparat that finds ways to avoid the real consequences of its own ideological agendas — consequences that fall on the far poorer, less glamorous, and less influential others.”

  22. I stand by my statement that “All Canadians are STUPID!”, because we, who are in the majority, put up with this Bozo and his government instead of demanding a recall.
There is no means for holding recall elections.
As far as letting things fall apart as you’ve described, I’m reminded of a scene from, I think, the first episode of the TV series Yes, Minister in which Sir Humphrey Appleby reminds Bernard Wooley that it isn’t the government that runs the country, but the civil service.
We vote for the government, but civil servants are not accountable to the electorate. Therein lies the problem.

“SUDBURY, Ont. — A trial is set to begin Thursday for two Ontario Liberals on Election Act bribery charges. Pat Sorbara, a former Ontario Liberal Party CEO, and Gerry Lougheed, a Sudbury Liberal fundraiser, are accused of offering a would-be candidate a job or appointment to step aside for Wynne’s preferred candidate in a February 2015 byelection. Both Sorbara and Lougheed deny the charges.
Here are some key dates in the scandal:
Nov. 20, 2014: Sudbury New Democrat MPP Joe Cimino resigns after just five months on the job, citing “personal health wellness.”
Nov. 30: Premier Kathleen Wynne meets with NDP MP Glenn Thibeault, who agrees to run for the provincial Liberals. Wynne has said she decided at that meeting to appoint him.
Dec. 11: Local Liberal and chair of the Sudbury police services board Gerry Lougheed visits Andrew Olivier, the failed Liberal candidate in the June provincial election who was seeking to run again. Lougheed asks Olivier to consider stepping aside and nominating Thibeault and tells Olivier “in the course of that deliberation” to consider “appointments, jobs, whatever.”
Dec. 11: Wynne phones Olivier, who is quadriplegic and tapes conversations as his way of taking notes. He says technical difficulties prevent him from recording that exchange.” (More)
