I called this. I called it good and long. I remember when Layton got his ‘Orange Wave’ in Quebec everyone thought it would become his and the NDP’s beachhead and base that would be good for at least becoming the main oppo, if not government. I shook my head and said ‘they’re f*cked’. They traded their simple to please rural backers for newer, hipper folk-which would make sense if that’s what they got in Quebec. The problem isn’t so much that Quebec is too far left (it’s actually one of the few provinces being fiscally righteous lately) but that it’s got TOO MANY LEFTS. Schizo neurotic province. It’s got the standard left, the hard left, and the nationalist left, and the pathologies of the latter have been bleeding out to others. Too many plats to spin and that’s why Quebec was and is a trap for the NDP.

  2. Quebec goes with whoever gives the biggest handouts. Mulroney when he got his 2 majorities, the ransoms under the PQ and now back to the Liebels with Turdeau Jr. Simple equation.
