6. Our so-called “Corrections” system fails for several reasons, but a key one is trying to do punishment and rehabilitation at the same time. One solution is graduated incarceration, where you start in a punishment situation, and gradually have more rights and opportunities added as you earn them through acceptable behaviour and effort. If you screw up, back to square one. Right now this really only exists on/after parole.
   The prison system has been so severely gutted of useful rehabilitation programs–the meat-cutting program at Bowden is a good example–that there are many useful and proven low tech opportunities we could be spending $$ on to improve results, before throwing money at technology.

   Clifford Olson actually had his internet rights removed due to that. You can bet the farm and the cottage that they invariably vote Liberal with maybe a few NDP’ers in there.
   I worked with many convicts on crews I foremanned and they knew very well who was on their side.
   Once again,the SCC with the she-devil Chief Justice Beverley Mclachlan gave the cons this right. Same person who led the cause for the Blessed Charter covering anyone whose foot touched Canadian soil,regardless of his method of getting here or criminality back home in beautiful Shitholeville.

   Next up: prisoners should have the right to have sex robots in their room.

   Maybe as we look around at what we have become it might be time to get back to the basics. If you believe in the tenets above then you believe that we live in a civilized society, as such there are rules and laws created by that society to ensure its continuation. When these rules and laws are broken there must be retribution, if not then the society is lost. We are on the road to losing our Western Society, incrementally. This is happening under our very noses as the ‘progressives’ slowly erode the fundamental principals that allowed us to have a lifestyle that is the envy of the world. As the ‘progressives’ continually weaken and water down the justice system they are undermining society as a whole and we will all be the poorer for that.

Let’s embed chips in the brains of pedophiles that explode their brains if they so much as LOOK at child porn or get within 100 yards of a school ? Or one that cuts the blood supply to the arm of a thief who leaves a store without paying ? I have a RIGHT to be kept SAFE from the predator criminals among us. Screw prisoner rights. We’ve coddled the criminal for too long. Time for the pendulum to swing back to stasis. Implant these devices … then turn the criminal free. Wanna bet the recidivism rate drops to ZERO ?

11. If it makes low-level offenders easier to manage and re-integrate, do it. Contra popular ‘wisdom’, the justice system is about minimizing crime while protecting everyone’s rights, not punishment for its own sake.

12. We’ve become a punishment-adverse society. No more spanking children. Punish your teen today, and they will slash your throat while you sleep. Disrespect abounds. Anarchy abounds. Dr. Spock has wrecked several generations of children and spawned a narcissistic culture that demands rights they don’t deserve … like trophys they’ve never earned. Sorry, but there is a place in evolved human culture for punishment. Simple cause and effect. “Life” punishes the dim-witted and selfish fools daily. As Capt. Capitalism likes to point out … poor decision-making in life punishes the hell out of the stupid, the greedy, the dullards … and I might add … the self-absorbed. How much better would life be had these losers been gently punished before Life kicks the holy sh!tt out of em ? Insulating and isolating children (and adults) from punishment is actually quite cruel and unusual. Unusual, because “Life’s” punishment cannot be avoided. Cruel, because avoidance of punishment rarely ends well.

15. Dude … the voices in your head are getting louder, eh ? I didn’t in any way suggest that punishment of any sort is required for “hate speech”. You forget … I live in America where we have FREE speech. If your Canadian MP’s want to put the bootheel of government censorship on your windpipe … that’s your problem. Drug Trafficking ? Depends where you are in the supply chain … but I am in favor of the DEATH penalty for certain Drug kingpins who have slaughtered thousands in pursuit of their “business interests”. A doped-up society is a dead and dying society. It’s hard to imagine that we would mandate public education while simultaneously “legalizing” all drugs. Talk about counterproductive policies. Read up on your history about opium … and what generated prohibition in the US … hint: it wasn’t “religion” that reacted to a stoned society … it was the women, wives … who lived with drunken bums for husbands.

My step son learned the hard way, don’t piss off the old goat, one dose was all it took, and we get along great today. An other event, just a few years ago, young pup was feeling his oats, and “over reacted”, again, one does was all it took.     Solution to what exactly? Prison problems? Well, end drug prohibition and any other victimless non-crime for starts. Copy rehab programs that work, and maybe privatize the prisons with incentives for re-integrating those who are released.

    Still, don’t slough off my 2nd question with a throw-away remark. I’m sure you won’t tell us just what your chosen line of work is, but I know you’re too intelligent to be the P.M. Surely you can give us something more than that. Otherwise, all you get is insults.
