  19. This is not some pop song that the singer is free to interpret however they like. The reviews on the internet are all critical. This is the national anthem that belongs to all Canadians and should be treated with respect. Otherwise why do we bother to stand when it is being performed?
    Anyway, she probably got her wish. Nobody had ever heard of her before last night.

    But, I would like to thank TimR for caring enough about our national anthem to defend it here, a fresh breathe of air considering all those I have recently read on this site claiming to now be ashamed of Canada. A sad reaction to what is strictly Liberal Party malfeasance.

    You got that part right. When a singer has the words down and more or less holds the tune I rate that a pass and speaking of off-key Bob Dylan and Neil Diamond sang off-key their whole careers and it never hurt their popularity.

    One of my favorites of all time.
    There was never,imho, a better anthem singer of any anthem than Montreal’s Roger Doucette,the opera singer who could belt out an anthem like nobody else.That Cop at the Ottawa Senators games was pretty good too.

  31. Another Major League Baseball All Star Game; another embarassing rendition of our national anthem. I think she may have toked some Trudeau tobacco.
    It wasn’t as bad as Roseanne Barr’s rendition of The Star-spangled Banner in which, as I remember, she shrieked some of the lyrics, or Denise Richards’ version of Take Me Out to the Ball Game, which was largely off-key.

  33. Actually, there were really good singers in both Edmonton and Calgary who totally respected the anthems they sung. This one was toooo painful – off tune and just excruciating even without the giggle. However, does anyone remember the 1992 World Series when the U S military paraded the Canadian flag upside down? I always thought Canada’s response should have been to have the next parade on Canadian soil carried out by the Scouts and Guides, doing it correctly.

  34. So I heard some ‘science’ commentator on the Telly say that the ice shelf weighed 6-trillion pounds. Floating on the seas … the rough Antarctic seas … heaving up and down, up and down, up and down on the tides and storms. And how much LARGER could the ice shelf grow before it snapped free ? The ‘science’ reporter wasn’t curious enough to ask the question.
    And yet these same ‘science’ reporters repeat the lie of global warming having … caused … or accelerated … or doomed the ice shelf. Science by innuendo. Science by “opinion”. Not science at all. Just lies. Just “statistical projections” pretending to be “science”
