  7. Quelle surprise! It looks like the French Canadians actually have a unique cultural identity and that it is ok for them to celebrate heritage (without having to kowtow to `diversity`. (From the PMO:

    So it must just be the ANGLOPHONE community (Westerners, etc.) that has no core identity`(according to our PM) and deserves to have its heritage obscured in the 150th celebrations.
    I don`t know how many people have noticed that the Liberals have gone out of their way to obscure `history and heritage` in commemorating the upcoming 150th event. History and heritage are not part of the Liberal `themes`for the anniversary. They have been squeezed out by `diversity`. . . environment . . . youth. At least a couple of respected historians have noted and commented on this. It does seem to be an egregious oversight.

Is it time for someone other than me to start an online virtual graveyard dedicated to victims of half-baked solutions to global warming like the Grenfell Tower people and all the little old ladies who die in Europe because they can’t afford rapidly increasing heating bills? If names and faces and the background information on their death were provided, it may hit home with people who consider the screwing with carbon based fuels at worst innocuous.

    One thing I have noticed is how Canada’s sesquicentennial has gone unnoticed. There’s hardly anything to remind us about Confederation 150 years ago.
    I was a schoolboy in 1967 and that was a blowout to end all blowouts. Remember the coins that were minted for that year? The stamps? All sorts of ads mentioning or celebrating it? Expo ’67?
    There’s hardly a peep about it now. Then again, 50 years ago, Canada was still a country and one with a core identity. According to our unicornphile-in-chief, we’re not that any more. Since that’s the case, why bother?

  21. If Harper had still been in power, we would have had a decent celebration for the 150th. I don’t think the Liberals care. Their efforts are tokenism. For them, there really is no Canadian identity, and if there were, it would certainly not be something to introduce newcomers to. A core Canadian identity might impinge on our “diversity. ”

    Don’t forget that the PM during 1967 was also a Liberal, though Pearson was considerably more loyal to this country than PM Unicorn Cuddler is.
    Still, I agree that, had Harper won, there would be a proper observance. However, when we had “Canada 125”, Mulroney wasn’t particularly popular and that turned out to be as exciting as a stale Timbit.

The real danger with the current government is the degree to which they are controlled by the globalists. Trudeau is an exceptionally weak leader. What happens in Canada is being directed by the UN and other forces. Not only is Trudeau ineffectual, but most of his Cabinet is lacking in experience. More experienced players have been side-lined (e.g. Le Blanc) or given portfolios that are not consequential. Canada is floundering and the 150th anniversary is little more than tokenism while we lay the groundwork for more “diversity”.
    What is interesting is Quebec’s heritage is still being acknowledged. I believe if there were any attempt to undermine Quebec’s Heritage (in the same way that Anglo heritage is being suppressed), there would be plenty of push-back (including a possible swing back to the NDP).
