confusion to the frecnnh
The spin attempts are just amazing. Depending on who you read, Comey is Satan incarnate, or Trump is. There are a few reasonable takes, written in plain English, but they are few and far between.
Except nobody was claiming that Trump was personally under investigation by the FBI when Comey was director.
Obstructing an active FBI investigation in the hopes of avoiding a political scandal involving key members of your campaign and executive teams, however…
I’m watching it right now, my favourite part so far is Comey agreeing that the New York Times publishes Fake News false headlines.
Every single piece of their own feces thrown at President Trump by the Democraps in Congress has been served right back to them in their evening meals. The Democraps are so out of touch, unhinged, and irrelevant that they have resorted to fondling their own excrement for entertainment. As president Clinton used to say … its time to stop entertaining all these salacious charges, and get back to doing the business of America.
Kenji, partisanship aside, does it bother you at all that Russia attempted to meddle with the US presidential election? Do you think it’s something worth investigating as a counter-intelligence matter, in and of itself?
This has been the biggest NOTHINGBURGER IN THE HISTORY OF NOTHINGBURGERS. I can certify this to be true as I’ve been a news junkie since I was a wee lad.
My sincer condolances on your accident that caused your specific form of amnesia…. My family will pray for your recovery…
Except Comey said Trump specifically told him that he wanted to know if any of his people were dirty and wanted him to get to the bottom of that. Oh uh democrats are screwed again. Trump specifically asked the former head of the FBI to get to the bottom of the muh russia.
liE, I’m more worried about US meddling in Canadian elections, and in Israel, and in Ukraine, etc.
What motive would Russia have had?
@WalterF: “What motive would Russia have had?”
Destabilization of its primary geopolitical foe.
Well argued. You misspelled “sincere” and “condolences”, by the way.
Same questions to you: partisanship aside, does it bother you at all that Russia attempted to meddle with the US presidential election? Do you think it’s something worth investigating as a counter-intelligence matter, in and of itself?
Many foreign governments try and influence US elections and have for a very long time. Maybe you should ask yourself why are democrats so obsessed with Russia and the last election? Do you really think they’d be so enthralled with all this if they had won? If not then can you see now that this is about politics and not anything noble? This is a stupid and pathetic and very dangerous political game being pushed by the DNC.
I don’t know how dense Comey is but the reason he was fired was obvious. He was willing to make a public statement to cover Clinton’s ass when she was as guilty as hell but he wouldn’t issue a simple public statement that Trump was not under investigation when he was, in fact, not under investigation. As simple as it gets.
Russia tries to meddle with all elections. So what? The U.S. does too. So what? China does also.
Somebody leaked the truth about some Democrats? Gee, that’s too bad. Maybe the Democrats shouldn’t be such shit-heels.
Eli,
No, it does not bother me that Russia tried, assuming they did.
And the operative word there is “assuming”.
Of COURSE they tried, at least I assume they did, and anyone who assumes otherwise needs a good dose of reality.
But the fact is, they have always tried – and we know this and deal with it.
Answering your second question, we have been investigating this as a counter-intelligence matter for years.
In case you’re not as ancient as I am, it was called the “cold war”. And no realistic person thinks Russia went away just because we “won” that war.
What I and others here have had enough of is the attempts to tarnish our President with this crap.
Eli, is this the same Russia no one thought was an enemy when Obama took great sport at laughing at Mitt Romney?
THAT Russia?
Putin is guilty of many things, even things some conservatives overlook, but meddling in the American election is not one of them.
Besides, why would Putin bother when he has the Democrats do the heavy lifting for him?
” that Russia attempted to meddle with the US presidential election?” There is no evidence for this at all. Democrats and the media have just been on a fishing expedition. I am somewhat surprised at the many who do think Russia attempted to meddle in the last election. I cannot think of any reason why they would favour Hillary over Trump — or for that matter, the reverse. Putin himself has indicated that it would not have been possible to influence the election to the point of changing the result. He has asked what specific evidence there is — there is none! He has also indicated that US polities do not change when the regime changes, so there would be no point in attempting to influence the election. In this whole fiasco, Putin is about the only person making sense.
Did Russia succeed in changing any votes? answer..NO, no evidence, I am confident.
Lynch said to refer to Clinton emails as a “Matter” not an “investigation”.
You didn’t want to be in a room alone, but you didn’t have a problem speaking to Trump on the phone?
Of all the “LEAKS: one thing that was not leaked, was that Trump was not under investigation?
Comey: I asked a friend to give memo to reporter.
Comey: Nobody asked me to STOP the Russian probe.
Trump did NOT order me to let Flynn probe go.
Lynch refused 3 times for a special council into Clinton.
McCain: Why a “conclusion” in the Clinton emails BUT no conclusion from you in this??
Re: Russian motive: Destabilization of its primary geopolitical foe.
So then they’re to blame for 2008 and 2012?
Eli, the Russians as has been pointed out more that a few times have meddled in American politics for decades and decades. Heck even the Hollywood Screen Guild Actors strike that Reagan lived through in the 1940’s was a Communist power grab to control and direct American culture.
But what about the big foreign donors to the Clinton Foundation? Saudi, Qatar, UAE, Brunei, Kuwait…gave donations estimated somewhere north of $30 million presumably used in Hillary’s campaign. These are brutally repressive anti-West regimes and in some ways more responsible for the current worsening instability in the world than Russia. That’s not just “collusion” but an outright power purchase. There’s a ton of hypocrisy going on and most of it does not involve Trump or his campaign staff. So where’s the righteous outcry against Hillary?
“That’s not just “collusion” but an outright power purchase.”
If your position is that the US needs to strip out big money from its political fundraising system, then you’ll get no argument from me.
Whether it’s the anonymous super-PACs enabled by Citizens United or donations funnelled through “not-for-profit” foundations linked to candidates or wink-wink patronage to the private golf clubs, hotels, resorts, and other real estate interests held by an elected official and/or his/her immediate and extended family, it’s all corruption in my book.
“So where’s the righteous outcry against Hillary?”
Hillary isn’t president.
“” that Russia attempted to meddle with the US presidential election?” There is no evidence for this at all.”
Here is the declassified US intelligence committee report on Russian activities in the 2016 election: washingtonpost.com/apps/g/page/politics/the-intelligence-community-report-on-russian-activities-in-the-2016-election/2153/
“Democrats and the media have just been on a fishing expedition.”
Not just Dems. The Senate Intelligence Committee investigation is a bipartisan effort.
“Putin himself has indicated that it would not have been possible to influence the election…”
Well, if Putin says so…
If the Russian goal was to destabilize then they succeeded thanks to the DEMOCRATS and their media allies. History won’t be kind to them I think.
“Maybe you should ask yourself why are democrats so obsessed with Russia and the last election? Do you really think they’d be so enthralled with all this if they had won?”
Do you really think the Republicans wouldn’t be if they’d lost?
We can go around in circles like this forever. Or can we just agree that, of course, there’s partisan gamesmanship and hypocrisy mixed into all this political theatre? But putting all that aside for a moment, there remains a national security issue here that should be addressed, no? Or are you honestly saying that your core position–which wouldn’t change even in a bizarro alternate universe in which Clinton beat Trump amidst the same allegations of Russia electoral interference–is that, Well, this kind of stuff happens all the time, so let’s not even bother asking any questions or trying to figure out exactly what did and didn’t occur?
Trump could’ve depoliticized everything that followed with a few simple words when it first started: “I’m President — we all agree that I won the election. There is evidence from our intelligence community that Russia tried to interfere with the election. This hostile act, while ineffective, is unacceptable. We’re going to get to the bottom of it, and if any of my aides did anything wrong, they’ll be fired or worse. Because America First.” But he was so thin-skinned, so insecure about being seen as legitimate, that he couldn’t rise to the occasion. So now, theatre.
agreed. what’s missing in the reporting and punditry is a description of the exact meddling the russkies engaged in.
*anyone* who believes meddling in other nations’ elections is not a widely pursued hobby by those very targeted nations is living in the 1800s.
“So where’s the righteous outcry against Hillary?”
Hillary isn’t president.
No Hillary, as her non-stop lamentations underscore, she isn’t the Prez. But the huge continuous effort on the part of America’s Left to obstruct, undermine and outright seek to destroy the current legitimately elected President has hamstrung their government. Those efforts align with Hillary’s donors and Hillary is still recognized as a leader of the Left along with ex-Prez never seen a teleprompter he didn’t like Barry Obama. This bizarre political theatre has progressed far beyond anything reasonable into a real danger affecting the security and welfare of the American people…and the growing evidence of actual criminal wrong doings pretty much points at the Dems. Can you spell T-R-E-A-S-O-N boys and girls?
Eli – this is not an “investigation” to determine whether Russia tried to “interfere” with the election. This is/was designed to hamstring, destroy and if possible impeach and jail Trump. No other reason.
So for Trump to agree in any fashion would ultimately be used to hang him – the ultimate goal.
This is a fishing expedition and the longer they – the Dems,Media and beltway Republicans – can keep it going the greater damage they will do to Trump in the court of “public opinion”.
You can play silly bugger all day long – as you a proving. But there is nothing here and the media has been caught repeatedly outright lying, mischaracterizing, or omitting relevant information.
Do you realize 55% of Dem voters believe that Russians actually hacked voting machines? Now why would they think that?
CHRIS MATHEWS : Russian collusion narrative is dead after Comey testimony. Ruh oh democrats. There goes the need for special counsel.
“there remains a national security issue here that should be addressed, no?” Actually NO. Given the level of corruption in many of those “security agencies” (did you know they have been running drugs for years?) I don’t even know who you would get to investigate such a concern. Also, the jackals are out to get Trump and have been since the day he was elected. There was nothing he could do to reverse this that has not already been done. This is not Trumps doing. I think anyone supporting these investigations needs to consider the ultimate impact on the US. If the Dems are successful in bringing down Trump, it will destroy the country.
And pray tell … WHAT exactly are our intelligence agencies doing about it ? Why hasn’t the American public been informed that our intelligence agencies are taking immediate and appropriate countermeasures ? Why isn’t THAT the primary story in the media ? No, we obviously don’t have to reveal WHAT those countermeasures actually ARE … but why no OFFICIAL response from our Government Agencies ? Why is this story focused on TRUMP and his associates ?
You KNOW the answer to this … that the so-called Russian “hacking” is normal, common, garden-variety, “hacking”, “probing”, and whatnot. SOP. It’s a NOTHING BURGER. It’s something that virtually EVERY other nation does to each other. It’s Spy-vs-Spy (if you’ve ever read MAD Magazine). Nothing to see here … move along.
And … IF … this were something MORE crucial, MORE critical to the integrity of American Elections … then WHAT countermeasures have been taken to prevent any more of this happening ? Even at the LOCAL election offices ? It’s pretty hard to “hack” a paper ballot … so why hasn’t the Federal Gov’t. mandated paper ballots throughout America ? Why hasn’t the Russian Embassy been CLOSED-DOWN and the Russian Ambassador been THROWN OUT of the USA ? According to Comey … the Russian Ambassador is “dirty” … so WHY is he still HERE ?
This has always been a big, stupid, EXCUSE for HER loss … and desperate attempt to SMEAR Trump and delegitimize his Presidency. To STEAL the lawful VOTE of the American people. Fkcu Washington and the entire SWAMP !!
Oh, the special prosecutor is still needed to look into Russia’s involvement in the election – specifically around $100 million or so dollars worth that found its way into Hillary’s bank account following the sale of Uranium to Russia.
omey has told so many lies under oath, he wouldn’t know what the truth is.
A giant NOTHING-BURGER with a side of “Trumpeted” media LIES aplenty!
Cocktails at five…!
Comey Took Notes of Every Trump Meeting But Did Not Record Hillary’s 3 Hour Interrogation

The shadiest deal that the Clintons hatched with Russia is called Uranium One. This outrage should mushroom into Hillary and Bill’s radioactive Whitewater scandal. Frank Giustra, a Canadian mining mogul and major Clinton Foundation donor, led a group of investors in an enterprise called Uranium One. On June 8, 2010, Rosatom, the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation, announced plans to purchase a 51.4 percent stake in the Canadian company, whose international assets included some 20 percent of America’s uranium capacity. Because this active ingredient in atomic reactors and nuclear weapons is a strategic commodity, this $1.3 billion deal required the approval of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). Secretary of State Clinton was one of nine federal department and agency heads on that secretive panel. On June 29, 2010, three weeks after Rosatom proposed to Uranium One, Bill Clinton keynoted a seminar staged by Renaissance Capital in Moscow, a reputedly Kremlin-controlled investment bank that promoted this transaction. Renaissance Capital paid Clinton $500,000 for his one-hour speech. While CFIUS evaluated Rosatom’s offer, Clinton Cash author Peter Schweizer observed, “a spontaneous outbreak of philanthropy among eight shareholders in Uranium One” began. “These Canadian mining magnates decide now would be a great time to donate tens of millions of dollars to the Clinton Foundation.” These included Uranium One’s then-chairman, Ian Telfer, whose donations to the Clinton Foundation and the Clinton Giustra Sustainable Growth Initiative (CGSGI) totaled $3.1 million. Giustra himself gave $131.3 million to the Clinton Foundation. Before, during, and after CFIUS’s review, Schweizer calculates, “shareholders involved in this transaction had transferred approximately $145 million to the Clinton Foundation or its initiatives.” Others were less enthused about this deal. “Russia’s record of transferring dangerous materials and technologies to rogue regimes, such as those in Iran and Syria, is very troubling,” Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen of Florida, the ranking Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee at the time, wrote to CFIUS’s then-chairman, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner. The top Republicans on the Financial Services, Homeland Security, and Armed Services Committees also signed Ros-Lehtinen’s letter of October 5, 2010. “We believe that this potential takeover of U.S. nuclear resources by a Russian government–owned agency would pose great potential harm to the national security of the United States,” the letter read, “and we urge the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) to block the sale.” As a CFIUS member, Hillary could have heeded this warning and stopped Vladimir Putin from controlling a fifth of U.S. uranium supplies. America’s chief diplomat and former first lady either welcomed this prospect or was too uncharacteristically demure to make her objections stick. In either case, on October 23, 2010, within three weeks of that letter, CFIUS approved Rosatom’s purchase of a majority stake in Uranium One. Thanks to subsequent investments, Rosatom’s share of Uranium One grew to 100 percent by January 2013. Robert Gill of Morrison Williams Investment Management told Canada’s Financial Post: “By doing this acquisition, they can continue to build the company they intended to build, but they can do so without the transparency required by the public markets.” Rosatom CEO Sergei Kiriyenko crowed just after taking total control of Uranium One, “Few could have imagined in the past that we would own 20 percent of U.S. reserves.” A headline in Pravda boasted on January 22, 2013: “Russian nuclear energy conquers the world.” My old friend Michael Caputo performed public-relations work for Renaissance Capital in 1999–2000. He says it subsequently became “a practical arm of Vladimir Putin.” Caputo was stunned at the speed with which CFIUS approved Rosatom’s purchase of Uranium One.

Well according to CNN (Canada’s National News) this is the most important testimony since ….wait for it…….wait for it……… wait for it………WATERGATE!!!!! Bet you didn’t see that one coming did you!
This whole situation gets funnier and funnier as the Dumbocrats try to divert attention from their criminal activities. This is a simple case of using projection as a primitive defense mechanism which seems to be widespread among moonbats. Now Comeu’s testimony provides such interesting material such as the Dumbocrat AG interfering with an FBI investigation:
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-06-08/comey-admits-ag-lynch-pressured-him-use-clinton-campaign-language-it-gave-me-queasy-
Then there’s the illegal use of NSA resources by the WH before Trump was elected in carrying out very detailed spying on Trumps campaign; of course if this is legitimized then Trump can ask for any phone call of anyone connected with the Dumbocrats to be recorded as Obozo set the precedent.
Then there’s the curious matter of the DNC reporting their servers were hacked over a year ago. They reported this to the FBI but refused to let the FBI investigate their servers. Instead, they hired Crowdstrike to do this who, with minimal evidence, concluded that “the Russians did it”. In reality, the most likely “hack” of the DNC emails was done by Seth Rich who passed on the Klinton emails to wikileaks after Seth Rich had become disgusted with the DNC deciding that Bernie Sanders was not to be the presidential candidate. The Podesta emails dealt with the need to eliminate such leaks and Seth Rich was gunned down, likely by agents of the deep state. The DC police department is refusing to cooperate with the FBI in this matter. Whether this is Arkanicide or as a result of the deep states “private contractors” is yet to be determined. Then there’s the Alwan? family who departed for Pakistan somewhat quickly after it appeared that their IT expertise was used primarily to spy on the DNC and their congresscritters and I’m sure they’ve got lots of dirt they can use if an attempt is made to extradite them from Pakistan. Another major security breach that the DNC is attempting to sweep under the carpet as quickly as possible.
Having spent way too much time looking into these matters over the last year, I’ve come to the conclusion that the US political system is FUBAR. The deep state is only part of the problem and the swamp may be too deep to drain. Perhaps we could ask the Russians to interfere one more time with a 50 Mt warhead directed at Washington DC and another one for Ottawa. The few people in DC who haven’t been irrevocably damaged by their proximity to the institutionalized perversion can be evacuated before hand.
As far as election hacking, a few of the recount results seem to have quickly stopped the US green party attempt to prove that Trump “stole” the election. Recounts in Detroit couldn’t be completed as there seemed to be such severe mismatches between the recorded votes and actual physical ballots that the effort was abandoned. Then there’s the matter of all the illegal aliens who voted for Killery. Commiefornia would likely block any investigation into this matter and very high quality drivers licenses and other ID can be very readily obtained from Chinese sources (apparently this is now the norm among many US college students now who have a fake drivers license showing that they’re old enough to drink).
At some point the mental gymnastics required to maintain an increasingly byzantine structure of lies will be beyond the mental capabilities of the Dumbocrats and it will be time to move petty criminals out of prisons to get enough space for all of the corrupt swamp dwellers. I suspect that such a process if going on as discretely as possible at this time and the primary problem now is likely figuring out who at the FBI can be trusted and which agents put party politics above rooting out corruption. The tightrope that Trump has to walk is figuring out how to get evidence good enough that the swamp dwellers will be convicted by a court and not worry the deep state enough during the process that they decide to duplicate the JFK strategy again. It’s encouraging that the news is getting out despite the fake-news MSM working flat out to put forth the Dumbocrat narrative and the “dangers” of an unregulated internet. This is going to be the end of the MSM and another example of the importance of the 1st Amendment as a brake on state tyranny (still have the 2nd if the SHTF).
Yes, it does concern me just as American interference in Russia elections a few years ago concerned me as you would have to know that Russia would retaliate.
It concerns me a whole lot more the Obama and George Soros interference with money funneled to 3rd parties during the last Canadian election.
Comey is clearly deranged, the man should seek help. The more I see and hear of nut-case Comey the more I believe he should be investigated for letting Hitlery go free and whether or not it is he that is working for the Russians… perhaps its Comey thats working for the Russians in this classic attempt to undermine the new President and his agenda… once again the Media led coup has failed… Either way it is clear that President Trump was right to fire this deranged narcissist, Comey is seriously nuts. Frightening that someone so clearly mentally compromised was heading up the FBI. Comey is crazier than that deranged queer dude, J.Edgar Hoover, truly disturbing.
The cannibalistic conservatives are the only ones preventing the required draining of the swamp and purge of Dem operatives posing as civil servants.
Russia has meddled in every US election since the bolsheviks took over. Likely every other election they ever heard about as well. The fact that they try is nothing new, or surprising. Given that Hillary gave the go ahead to sell US proven reserves of uranium to Russian interests, for a few million to the Clinton Foundation, says she was more likely the Russian Manchurian. After Hillary, Sanders was a straight up Stalinist, so he was logically their number 2 choice. Trump has a hotel in Moscow I am pretty sure, but other than that what does he have to do with Russia?
One of the people who turned victory in Vietnam into defeat, one ketchup gigilo John Kerry, is not in jail yet. I am thinking it is already down the memory hole.
I do not believe that the current Putin government is pushing either Communism or Stalinism. They have dealt with that. Putin served under Yeltsin, and I believe that one of his brothers died at the hands of the Stalinists. The ones pushing Communism these days are the Soros funded groups and their fellow travellers — many in academia.
Did Comey actually come out in a press conference to say Donald Trump was not under investigation?
“Did Comey actually come out in a press conference to say Donald Trump was not under investigation?”
Yes. I suspect clearing Clinton, who was as guilty as hell, while refusing to do the same for Trump, who was totally innocent, was the number one reason the A-hole was fired.
Time for Trump to find 6 of the most fascist lawyers in the US and appoint them as independent prosecutors to investigate criminal activities with the IRS, the ATF, the FBI, the CIA, the NSA, and Hillary Clinton under Obama’s rule. Then Trump can sit back and offer no comment because the investigations are out of his hands.
