  7. RE Trump’s comments on the dairy issue and NAFTA:
    It’s not about what’s right or wrong. Trudie and his propaganda bureau CBC have disrespected Trump from the beginning. CBC is a significant part of Canada’s problems with the US administration. Night after night they denigrate and disrespect Trump. There will be retribution for this disrespectful attitude, and Canadians will suffer and pay for Trudeau’s and CBC’s arrogance. Payback has only just started. Canada is going to learn a hard lesson on what it means to be on America’s un-friend list.
    By 2019 Canadians will be so pissed-off with their dilettante yes-boy that the Lieberals will be dealt a blow that they will hopefully never recover from.

While channel surfing yesterday evening I happened upon the tail end of the French presidential “debate” — a format I think should be adopted for our own election debates, which are usually contests about who can talk the loudest, interrupt most often, thus drowning out one’s opponents. Viewers like me usually end up wanting to throw something at the TV for having wasted time on such useless nonsense.
    The eleven candidates vying for the French presidency were individually interviewed during 15 minutes (scrupulously timed) by two media personalities, one a news anchor and the other a former talk show panelist, who asked the candidates some questions apparently posed to all of them. I say apparently because I did not watch from the very beginning. There were very few interruptions, except when the candidate strayed off the topic of the question posed, but all done very civilly.
    Once the individual interviews were over, all the candidates stood behind individual podiums, chosen at random to deliver a 2:30 minute closing statement.
    I think French electors were well served by that kind of format, with candidates able to explain their position without the constant talk-over & interruptions we’re usually subjected to during our election debates.

    We’ll have a two-sided sign, one that shows support for science, and on the reverse, a picture of the worst climate monitoring station ever found by the surfacestations project at the University of Arizona with the question “If you measure climate in a parking lot, is it still science?””
