Despite these advantages, the analyses of the present study suggest that neutering is associated with increased risk for certain autoimmune disorders and underscore the need for owners to consult with their veterinary practitioner prior to neutering to evaluate possible benefits and risks associated with such a procedure.
I wonder if this might apply to other mammals ? Like Homo Sapiens ?

My parents had their last dog fixed soon after they got him. That, however, didn’t have much effect on his natural tendencies, if you get my drift. The family that adopted him after my father died noted that the wee beastie still gets frisky once in a while.

I’m wondering if the age at which a dog is neutered is a factor. Unfortunate that this variable was not a part of the study.
I have reason to believe (anecdotal to be sure) that neutering a dog before they are mature sexually is bad for dogs….. probably mammals generally.
I found this statement “In contrast, neutered females may display increased dominance aggression and urinary incontinence [81, 82, 83] and susceptibility to certain neoplasias [14].” fits perfectly one of the dogs that I currently have. (I don’t know at what age she was neutered as she didn’t come to us until she was 6 yrs old.) She has every one of those symptoms/characteristics. She’s one tough bitch with slight urinary incontinence and several neoplasias.
By comparison, our other dog, also female, was not neutered until after she had been in heat twice. A very sweet dog with no problems.

Common sense would agree with that observation. For male dogs, the ones who were neutered later often chase and mount females in heat, even though they’re shooting blanks.
