Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

No, it’s taking responsibility for a situation and dealing with it expediently before it gets out of control.
Yup. For many years now I’ve been calling police “glorified janitors who mop up the blood after the deed is done.” Not their fault, as we’re all painfully aware: they’ve been increasingly nutted by the government for decades. I well remember a story from my own part of the world some years back: immigrant kid (legal adult) with machete, raving and attacking people in their cars – fortunately they all had the presence of mind to lock doors and bail – because he was upset that his girlfriend had dumped him.
Cop called to scene, tried to negotiate, kid attacked him and he shot the perp, fatally.
Cop was OF COURSE put on trial, and both he and his family received telephoned death threats. Don’t know the outcome but pretty likely he never got his street job back.
If you’re a cop, you want to risk going through that insanity? Doubt it. Buy a gun while you still can, don’t end up like the Richmond BC dad shot to death in his own house by a home invader addicted to codeine cough syrup, as happened just a couple of years ago.
Texas.
When do we leave..?
My cousin lives in Billings, MT. He told me once that about 70% of the police calls he heard on his scanner involved “Native Americans”.
I’d be curious to see, in the last 10 years, how many property owners, here in Saskatchewan, have been hurt or killed in a confrontation with an intruder on a farm or a ranch. My guess is probably less than 10. Probably one percent of those who were killed or injured on municipal roads from driving while intoxicated. Saskatchewan has one of the highest impaired driving records in Canada.
Start allowing farmers and ranchers to shoot at intruders, and the intruders will be carrying guns. Then what?? I lived on a farm that was 14 miles from the nearest RCMP detachment for 30 years . I had one break in at the house, it was a guy who ran out of gas in -40 weather, he had two kids in the cab. He used the phone and later paid the damage. I did go outside with a shotgun once, a car full of kids were beside my fuel tank, whether it was my gun or my German Shepherd, they left in a hurry. Of course that was 20 years ago before gun laws. What would have happened had they been armed?? Twas a stupid move on my part. In hindsight, should you kill someone over five gallons of gas??
We’re farmers and cowboys. We’re not trained to confront armed intruders. Kill an innocent intruder by mistake, it will haunt you for the rest of your life and you risk getting sued for all you have.
In a situation where it’s killed or be killed, OK, defend yourself. What are the odds of that happening?? I say one in 500,000!!
Ques: Which General killed the most Indians in all of North American history??
Answ: General Motors.
The point of having a rifle or shotgun in this type of situation is that it will not likely be used lethally. It can be used to encourage the trespassers to wait for the RCMP to arrive and also to discourage any visits in the future.
I wouldn’t use a firearm, but I know some of my neighbours would. Non-local scum don’t know the difference and I benefit from that.
