Viola Davis won Best Supporting Actress. She should have won the Best Whining and Bringing People Down on screen and in real life. Must be a chick flick thing? I don’t get it. And I’m with Trump on Meryl Streep – again the chick flick thing. I have never watched a Meryl Streep movie when there’s alternate entertainment like picking a scab.
The Best Picture fiasco, will conveniently bury any media coverage of the hypocrites that Kimmel and the left truly are.
Jimmy Kimmel Makes Fun of Names and the Criticism Is Immediate

I didn’t notice a hell of a lot of refugees sitting amid that audience of self-entitled and delusional elitists last night.
The Best Picture gaffe was the biggest embarrassment of the evening, but certainly far from the only one.
http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2017/02/27/producer-jan-chapman-devastated-her-photo-mistakenly-used-during-in-memoriam.html
Based on what I witnessed these past eight years, I expected to see B. Obama listed as executive producer in the credits of last night’s awards disaster.
Meds & Mental illness, it’s not a wonder that no one wants to see these people with firearms.
In days of old, these idiots were nothing but court jesters travelling the lands begging for food from one kingdom to another. Today the simple people worship them like gods making them rich and politically powerful.
Never watch this crap. Nothing but a self-congratulary circle jerk.
I’ll never forgive Hollywood for what it did to Alberta. I mean, along came Brokeback Mountain and all these tough wranglers and riggers started voting NDP.
Everything Liberals touch!
Like usual, it was only La La Land for a short time.
Sorry Hollywood buffoons. You don’t get a “Take 2” in the real world.
I did not watch. I never watch. Not even on the web. No movies I’ve seen were nominated, no people I like to see were featured.
The thing that won Best Picture I’ve never even heard of. I’ll be sure to skip it when it hits Netflix next week. An Academy Award is the acme of disgrace for a movie these days. The ultimate do-not-buy warning. Like the Hugo Awards, but for movies instead of SciFi books
It seems I am not alone in my ignoring of the whole farce either, their ratings were the worst ever.
That was kind of like watching the most stuck up kid in school get handed a heaping bowl of humble pie. I wouldn’t spend 2 cents to watch these self infatuated prima donnas, but I will happily watch Peewee’s Big Adventure for the 20th time.
I gave up on the Oscars completely after watching Vanessa Redgrave’s political stunt during the ceremony in 1978:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EeGWxHvKs48
Paddy Chayefsky gave an appropriate response:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VeV3GpUY1B4
Nowadays, Redgrave would be cheered and Chayefsky booed off the stage.
I am completely flummoxed that anyone pays any attention to these mentally ill people. Good grief they are actors. People who like to pretend. If they told me the time of day I would check my watch. Why on earth would I listen to their political views?
Lets get one thing straight.
The Oscar’s haven’t been about art since their creation by the folks trying to find a way to get more butts into the theatre’s to watch an ever more deprecated product year after year. Since the mid sixties the effort was modified to add political messaging as well as convincing the masses their product was hip, cool, with it, progressive, multicultural, diverse and inclusive. …and oh yeah if the POTUS happened to be a Republican targeted for excessive verbal diarrhea.
The theory goes like this.
When the academy was doing its planning back last fall, the expectation was Hillary was inevitability going to be president, so naturally the awards would reflect how wonderful life was now that a woman was president. No more dystopian flics to depress the masses, a cheerful musical to reflect the times….then the excrement hit the fan on election night and the scramble started to find a much more suitable list of nominations to reflect how bad things where because those racist homophobic knuckledraggers in flyover country didn’t do as told to elect Hillary.
If you consider this conspiracy theory…it makes some sense as the whole ceremony is treated by hollyweird as some kind of sacred event to tell the masses how to think. So nothing that happens on that stage is accidental, its all planned, even the mistakes.
“In days of old, these idiots were nothing but court jesters travelling the lands begging for food from one kingdom to another. Today the simple people worship them like gods making them rich and politically powerful.”
The were called “mummers”.
To quote the late Bill Paxton:
“Its over, man! Game over!”

All the experiments with government have failed spectacularly, including the American experiment of self-government. One would have thought that by now, folk would realize that central government = tyranny and death by now, but, just like the commies, there are always those idiots who say “Government is great, its just never been implemented correctly.”
We are rushing headlong into a very brightly lit dark age.
This had nothing to do with the Hollywood twits – this one is squarely on the back of PwC, which is really unfortunate.
PwC prides itself that it has handled this event with no problems at all for many, many decades. In fact, they don’t even charge for their services – it means that much to them. To have this happen is unforgivable in their eyes. I hope no one in PwC gets turfed over it.
This reminds me of before I retired, this outside “efficiency expert” (they are probably the worst, not having any idea what actually is going on) heard a Chinese name (not mine) and said, I don’t mean to be insulting (when they say that they know they are) but you know how Chinese name their babies, they throw silverware down the stairs, and name him after the sound. Well, this guy happens to have an, ah, interesting Polish surname, and I immediately retorted, if I had a name like yours, I would be the last person to make fun of anyone else name. The room first went quiet, then everyone laughed. He didn’t say another word.
You are right, that really is racism by exclusion–you don’t even have a right name. And mostly that is done by liberals, who are only condescending and want to protect dem por folks. They absolutely resent people who say I don’t need your help. Just tell me the rules and I will beat you with them. I am of Chinese descent, and a proud conservative and American, perhaps a little too outspoken. And the only white prejudice I have encountered all came from the left, who were unhappy that a nonwhite would take a conservative position, and maybe also that a nonwhite would dare speak up against them.
Hire Trump to run the Academy Awards. “Make the Oscars Great Again.”
I don’t watch the Oscars or care at all for the artistes’ opinions, but I must say I laughed my a** off when I heard about this story.
It looks good on the whole finger wagging bunch of political dinosaurs, dropping the ball in front of millions.
Shall we call it poetic justice? They want to lead us? Oops sorry bombed the wrong country; sorry about that, here’s an autographed picture.
Not content with messing up the best picture Oscar call, their “In Memoriam” of a costume designer featured a still living producer’s photo.
http://www.thewrap.com/another-oscar-screw-memoriam-segment-showed-still-living-producer-jan-chapman/
The freaky show called the Oscars had a goof up. Couldn’t have happened to a more deserving affair.
How long before someone blames some Trump operatives for it?
I’m waiting for the line “The Russians did it!”
This year’s Oscars were a direct result of the claimed Black-lash of last year. I’d like to have been a fly on the wall when the votes were being taken, talk about a conflict of ideologies. A movie about a gay, black teenager coming of age winning over a movie about a conscientious objector saving lives in WWII. There must have been a lot of imploding heads and absolute unadulterated rancor floating around the room as the votes were counted. One thing the Academy has guaranteed is that there will be a smaller audience next year as more and more of the great unwashed are coming to the realization that Hollywood entertainment like Monday night football has overstepped its boundaries by becoming political. Americans don’t need the likes of Judd, Streep, Streisand, Cher, and a plethora of other Moon-bats telling them how to vote or how guilty they should feel.
I’m thinking this announcement of the Best Picture Award winner, that later turned out to be dead wrong – must be what they call “fake news”.
Breathtaking the hypocrisy of these actors. No thought apparently to the carbon print involved in producing such a spectacle; the manufacturing of one off gowns, air travel, TV costs sound lighting etc. But they can hike up to Alberta and harass unemployed oil workers for falling short of their environmental ideal.
The height of their influence must surely have peaked by now. Why else would networks expend so much energy reporting events that have so little meaning to average viewers. Especially true here and CBC spares no expense in keeping Canadians posted on such trivia.
We go to a LOT of movies, and in 2016 many of them were $#!te. Here’s a summary:
WORTH SEEING:
La La Land > the most ‘pure entertainment’ we’ve seen in a decade of movies
Lion > a terrific story and movie, truth very well told
Hacksaw Ridge > extremely intense combat scenes; TRUE story; ranks with ‘Saving Private Ryan’
Hell or High Water > an enjoyable action flick of Texas bank robbers
Hidden Figures > a light feel-good story that gives a fair glimpse of the Civil Rights era
AVOID:
Manchester By The Sea > great acting but VERY depressing watching a bunch of life’s losers
Arrival > sci-fi, largely made by Quebecois … yawn
Moonlight > it’s got the trifecta needed to be praised by Hollywood, 1. a severely dysfunctional family; 2. that happens to be black, drug dependent, ‘disadvantaged’ and southern; and 3. Gay male adult-on-boy sex scenes. So OF COURSE it had to be the winner because THIS is the film that will offend the largest number of normal middle class people.
You’re welcome.
There is kind of a beautiful symmetry with the best picture award fiasco with recent presidential election results…the left’s choice was a mistake and didn’t really win.
ps I don’t watch and don’t care but it just seems so like the entitled class to blow it in this way.
My wife likes to watch the Oscars (primarily so she understands all the Facebook chatter) … so I saw bits of it as I walked through the room to feed our fish …
I got nauseous listening to some winner pontificate about how he and all the “artists” in the room were delivering the “TRUE meaning of life” or some such mentally diseased claptrap. I shouted at the wife that he was out of his mind … that I PERSONALLY see “artistry” in EVERYONE, in virtually everything they do. There is “artistry” in the auto mechanic who has studied the internal workings of an engine, and is able to “restore” hunks of steel to perfect operation. I see “nuance” and “artistry” in every boring, banal, job and in virtually everyone on the planet … sorry Hollywood, you are no more “artistic” than the common man who extends and contorts themselves in an effort to make it through a challenging life.
Hollywood has become that which they ridicule. They ARE the bigots and bullies they ridicule. They ARE the fundamentalist, HATE preachers lecturing flocks of lost souls about the one true path to “salvation”. Hollywood really DOES think of themselves as gods who mete-out their gnosis to all of us flawed mortals. Their supposed special knowledge and wisdom leads to death.
Of course Moonlight won Best Picture … it simply scored the MOST Alt. lifestyle points of all the nominees: Black peoples struggles in a “white world” … check. Young gay man coming of age … check. Gay sex scene … check. Poverty born of racist corporations … check. Excuses for drug use … check. I could go on, but no other nominated film came close … except maybe Hell or High Water which mocked; West Texas hicks, Bank foreclosure on deceitful mortgages, justification of crime (armed robbery), chaos and death caused by open-carry gun laws, and big oil. But Hell or High Water didn’t have a single black person in the cast … so it lost.
And the winner is….-Warren Beatty
We won 306 college votes -Potus
Who got mocked?
“…Hacksaw Ridge > extremely intense combat scenes; TRUE story; ranks with ‘Saving Private Ryan’ …”
If well told, a true story ranks above Saving Private Ryan. The latter was good the first time, but I never watched the whole thing again, after they get off the beach the latter it isn’t worth it.
Anonymous, I’ve been following Bill Whittle for years, ever since I found his site Eject, Eject, Eject, and I thought you might like his take on Liberals and Conservatives in this interview.
http://dailycaller.com/2017/02/25/conservative-commentator-gives-advice-on-piercing-the-liberal-mind-video/
Given that this is the first time it has ever happened in 89 years with dozens of awards given every year the remarkable thing is it happened to the climax award – best picture – and not to some obscure award.
So this movie Moonlight is celebrating the exact same thing that Milo was persecuted for just last week?
That reminds me …
In keeping with the movie theme, name another person besides President Abraham Lincoln who was shot in the back of the head in a theater.
Answer? The guy sitting in front of Pee Wee Herman.
This is what happens when you’re more focused on delivering a political message than doing your job, which in this case. was putting on an awards show.
And last evening’s fiasco was proof that show biz folk are not very bright. Didn’t Warren and Faye think it was odd that the paper which was supposed to have the name of the best picture written on it had the name of an actress instead?
Then what are their raincoats for ? Did PeeWee misfire ?
“Hollywood has become that which they ridicule”
Good comments Kenji
Can I channel you during dinner engagements when politics rears its ugly head.
Gael Garcia Bernal “I am against any wall that wants to separate us”. It might be an interesting study to see how many Hollywood stars have walls surrounding their
palatial castles to keep the riff-raff out, except for the gardeners of course.
The phony Academy awards (Fixed by insiders) was revealed by the actions of Warren Beatty…He knew that the Card was wrong and delayed…& delayed… It was Faye who took the card and made the false announcement…
How did Beatty know the card was wrong? Academy is totally corrupted
“How did Beatty know the card was wrong?”
I’m guessing the teleprompter had the correct name on it.
“…Moonlight is celebrating the exact same thing that Milo was persecuted for just last week?”
No, I don’t think Moonlight is about a renegade from a selected identity group going off-message.
Not likely.. The Broadcast industry has had similar frauds like Feeding answers to Hillary CNN,, ABC..NBC
The DOJ/ Congress need to investigate Warren Beatty & PWC for the truth on the Academy
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1950s_quiz_show_scandals
“I’m guessing the teleprompter had the correct name on it.” ural
Do you know how stupid that is… How would the SECRET be known by the Production crew….
Everything on TV is fake, start there.
As in;
Produced
Directed
Financed
try going to a studio
Back in the mid 80s a movie called Out of Africa won a bunch of oscars. So I took my wife on a date to watch it. It was such a poor movie that since that time I have avoided all best picture movies since except Unforgiven. Clint Eastwood and John Wayne movies are pretty my all I will watch now.
I heard PeeWee Herman just died….massive stroke!
Continuing to fight populism with elitism when elitism breeds populism. Gasoline meet fire.
Exactly… nothing but a waste of time by people who live vicariously following the lives of actors. Stupid sheeple.
And then there’s my snarky thought that with their falling ratings, they wanted to add a little “pizzazz!” to the broadcast, in hopes of boosting future viewership.
Right, DaveK, absolutely RIGHT.
