Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Starbucks is a dying brand … like Chipotle … best get OUT before the stock craters !
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
can’t say I’ll boycott their piss water, don’t drink it. Tried it once when I couldn’t find a Timms or Country Style, one sip, and the parking lot got a bath
Refugees and illegals are not known to come from cultures with good personal hygiene. Nuff said.
Captcha, are you kidding? Iguacuano? Is Captcha being run by an illegal?
I wish it were so, but it isn’t. I don’t know who generated that data, but if you google starbucks stock price, you will see that in the past month it dropped from 58.80 a share to about 54 a share and it closed Friday at 57.48. So that graph is “fake news” no matter how you slice it.
That being said, with a PE of 29.48 and a dividend yield of 1.74 percent, their stock is as over priced as their coffee.
Pretty much every institution, right and left, is now full of hyper-politicized partisans for whom truth comes second to ideology. Another sign of a moribund civilization.
Don’t know how Starbucks is really doing but the guy in charge of Black Rifle coffee turned that announcement to his favor. He said he’d hire 10,000 veterans. Now all the coffee I order from him has been out of stock ever since. That and it’s taking longer to get. Nothing like helping the little guy out. Thanks Starbucks.
The graph is not stock price. The graph is positive perception of the company.

Personally I love the Idea of leftards getting a special Somali swirl added to their coffee. Paki Nutsack Sauce could rival the Pumpkin Spice thingy.
“As Starbucks is well on its way to hiring 10,000 veterans by next year, another coffee company, albeit one much less known, has made a similar pledge. It’s Black Rifle Coffee Company, or BRCC, a small-batch brewing company based in Salt Lake City, which also happens to be one of the most vociferous critics of the Starbucks refugee hiring campaign. BRCC’s founder, Evan Hafer, is a 40-year-old former Army Green Beret. The company currently boasts a staff of 52 employees, 75% of whom are veterans. Hafer’s plan: hire 10,000 more veterans over the next six years.”

The BRCC ads on Instagram are generally quite good, and if i you have a military history, they’re funny too. “as if I actually need to be told to drink my f’ing coffee” ect…

Starbucks did that too, back in 2013: https://www.starbucks.com/responsibility/community/veterans
Black Rifle Coffee Co. currently has 52 employees. They claim that they’re going to hire 15,000 more over the next six years as part of their “expansion plans”. Good luck with that.
I think it would be wonderful if we could have all the liberal wogs going to Starbux and conservatives going to another …. that way we could enjoy the company of our peers without the tattooed, pierced, funnily clothed iPad clowns with their half Carmel, full dark, but not too sweet snowflake special coffee with 600 calorie sweet roll.
We are a divided culture, it’s time to capitalize on that across the board. I don’t what to be anywhere in the company of Liberals … at least not the sort of liberals we see nowadays. They are all nuts.
well the boycott lasted all of a couple weeks the stockat its 3 month high was 58.70/share…after the virtue signalling it dropped to 53…its now back up to 57.30. after a few weeks. sooo yeah. i wish it would have stayed down but alot of people made a bunch of money on shitty coffee…lol. thats how the market works .
Any CEO or company manager that involves himself (herself) publically in politics is a complete fool. Annoying a large segment of your customer base can never be as beneficial as remaining neutral. Something the Hollywood wingnut crowd will also learn sometime in the near future.
The stock price is overvalued, the easy money is gone and the coffee market is saturated. There’s no growth there to be seen, and while I don’t mind a nice dark grande every now and then, I can’t stand waiting 15 minutes while the rest of the mocha Chocca, cinnamon almond milk latte set wastes my time ordering their $6 cup of calories. Besides, who wants to order a $2 slice of lemon cake when a buck muffin at the anti oil and gas Timmys will do!
FYI, the huge majority of my coffee perks at home, Inhate supporting corps that are lefty liberal anti resource industry or environutter
If you want a good cup of coffee, mix a double shot of espresso (or really strong coffee If you don’t have an espresso machine) with a few spoons of sweetened condensed milk then fill the cup with ice.
This is not liberal stuff, it is good business sense dressed up. Refugees will work cheaper, longer hours, longer tenure, poorer conditions; all of these translate into more profits.
“This is not liberal stuff”
Announcing that you have 10,000 jobs to hand out in a country whose economy has suffered a recession for 9+ years and NONE of those jobs are going to Americans …is not liberal stuff?
Get outta town!
Speaking of Market saturation … my little burg with a pop. of 35K and ONE 1.5mi long retail street … has TWO full Starbucks stores and a THIRD located in the largest grocery store.
Fortunately, there are TWO other independent mom & pop coffee shop/cafes which are always FULL of patrons. I suppose it is somewhat ironic that BOTH the mom & pop’s are OWNED by immigrants. Let’s see … business OWNERSHIP for immigrants … or part time wages as a barista ?
Earlier generations of immigrants came here to achieve the “American Dream” … not to earn “guaranteed” minimum wages fetching fussy custom-concocted Joe for bratty white folk.
oh lordy. the comments in the link are Pulitzer worthy comedy. and here too.
I ‘frequent’ starducks about twice a year just to see if the place has folded yet. otherwise wholly INDEPENDENT shops, ie, not even franchise with anyone incl timmy.
Exactly!
McDonald’s serves better coffee. Dunkin Donets serves better coffee. Nasty burnt beans and pastries full of chemical crap. Why bother?
Starbuck’s? I remember when we were at PSU we saw Starbuck’s easily outclassed by another coffee company. Back in Canada I can’t remember the last time we went into a Starbuck’s. When we go to the Avalon Mall we go to Robin’s, or Second Cup, or Tim Horton’s. We prefer Robin’s, which is a Canadian company for those who don’t know it. No need ever to go near a company named after a Melville character.
…They claim that they’re going to hire 15,000 more over the next six years as part of their “expansion plans”. Good luck with that…
You seem happy that black rifle will not succeed, and happy that muslim refugees will be hired by starbucks.
I’m not surprised.
