Reader Tips

Missing in this list is Canada’s media. I fear, after today, the casualty list will be long.

And yes, I’m aware that this video doesn’t take Lake Toba into account….

  1. I watched the inauguration on CNN. Not my favorite network, however their pictures were the sharpest, and taken from the best vantage points. The highlight of the day was seeing tractors on Pennsylvania Avenue, and watching Baron Trump get exited over ”Made in the USA” iron!!

  2. “He’s going to inject a shock to the system here almost immediately,” Kellyanne Conway when interviewed in D.C. today

  3. The media were very condescending about Trump’s RNC speech — dark, dark, they said. I was taken aback, but could see that he was drawing on some negative things happening in the US. So, I thought, if his vision is not accurate, he will not win. But if his perception of what has happened in the US over the last x number of years is accurate, it will resonate with many people. That has in fact happened.
I have no problem with Trump’s “America First” agenda. That is exactly what POTUS should be doing. I simply wish that our own PM would see the wisdom in “Canada First”. But I am afraid that is not part of Justin’s thinking.

  4. The Krakatoa eruption also sent serious debris into the atmosphere, which coloured sunsets and cooled temperatures for several years. I had not heard of the Tambora eruption, but wonder if it contributed to the global cooling which was experienced at that time. I remember a lecture about Western Canadian history, when the difficult first years of the Selkirk settlers were mentioned, along with a hint that – in retrospect – it was realized that a volcanic eruption half the world away had cooled the climate sufficiently to cause crop failures and serious hardships.

  5. I just hope that Trump’s political tactics are mimicked here. We can push back on leftists and win. Ottawa’s swamp needs to be drained bigly.

  6. Thanks Ken. As always Rex cuts right to the heart of the matter.
Trump has virtually cleared the table of politics as it has been practiced and played for over a generation. He has bulldozed the old verities of political practice. He has shattered the codes of party politics, routed the tired mages of the political panels, the think tanks and NGOs. And he has utterly bypassed the hollow practices of virtue signalling and the insidious tribalism of identity politics. And as for the claustrophobic thought-amputations of political correctness, he has, correctly, shown nothing but scorn and dismissal. This is a wholesale reworking of the mode and understanding of modern American politics.
Good God I wish we had politicians like that in Canada.

  7. Unfortunately for you, the asininity of your assertion is of the same category Trump Derangement Syndrome as similarly exhibited by Chris Matthews.

It would appear Chris Matthews has lost the tingle in his leg and taken on Trump Derangement Syndrome. Perhaps Matthews would like to explain the Hitlerian contention in contrast to Benjamin Netanyahu’s looking forward to working with a “Hitlerian” Trump who would no doubt like to make the nation of Israel extinct.

  9. The Krakatoa eruption was so violent it left a YUUUUUGE caldera behind; Anak Krakatoa is rising out of it today. They could’ve mentioned Santerini, Pinatubo and Mount St Helen’s while they were at it.
And UnoMe, the problem with your statement is precisely that the voters did NOT vote for the high-flown sentiments, having seen with their own eyes, time and time again, that they’re so much insincere bu11$hit from the mouths of power-tripping despoilers who’ll just rob them blind – again.
Abe Lincoln summed this election up: “You can fool ALL of the people SOME of the time…”

  10. ‘somebody forcing you to smoke medicinal cannabis again’
No. Just seems like a valid opinion to me.
“An editorial accompanying the JAMA research argued that the political agenda to legitimize “medical” marijuana — was pushing ahead without adequate research into whether marijuana was effective or safe”

  11. But Hans, Benyamin is a fascist Hitler too. Or so the mediots and deranged left tells us. Or maybe that’s Benito, not , Benyamin.
Anyways, I’m tuning out the deranged leftist media, their collective insanity is outrageous. It’s enough just reading their derangement online, vs their overtly dramatic emoting with their scripted screed on the tube. Much like their friends looting and destroying stores and cars in Demo DC, they accomplish nothing, but offend their base.

  12. Dyslexia, perhaps, the narrator said one volcano erupted in 1792 while the video caption showed 1972.

  13. Since someone discovered they could make their way in life at other people’s expense if the lied enough.

  14. correctamundo. this is how false rumours start. also of note the previous citation of the incorrect spleling (pun intended) of ‘Sumatra’.
if it’s on the internot it must be true . . . .

  15. What are they protesting? My guess is they have no clue, it’s just an excuse to march and yell about nothing. They denigrate themselves and all women as air heads. Trump is the one who may do something to help women in countries like Iran and Saudi Arabia where they really are treated badly and have no rights at all. Shame on them, they are a disgrace to womanhood.

  16. You can bet those women’s marches are not happening in places like Tehran or North Korea. On a world scale, these are all privileged women. Part of their good day fortune is that they live in democratic countries, and yet their protest — which seems aimed at nothing more than disrupting the US government. Their protest — mostly an hysterical display of emotions and a bid for attention — essentially seeks to undermine democracy. It marks women are not North America as superficial and spoiled. It is an embarrassment for anyone who takes real world tyranny seriously. As Camille Paglia suggests, we are looking at cultural collapse.

  17. The “bright” Trudeau:
“Katula — a mother of four, with three grandchildren — asked Trudeau how she was supposed to afford a hydro bill that has risen above $1,000 a month and asked him to justify the federal government’s planned carbon tax.”
“I make $50,000 a year Mr. Trudeau and I am living in energy poverty,” Katula said through tears. “Please tell me how are you going to fix that for me and all of us in rural Ontario?”
Trudeau pointed out while hydro prices are a provincial matter his government’s plan to put a price on carbon pollution was necessary to fight climate change. “We are a country in which anyone with a quarter of your strength, of your drive should be thriving and focused on how are you going to spoil your grandchildren with all of your energy as opposed to how are you going to get through the week or the day,” Trudeau said.”
Message: I don’t care, beer & popcorn peasant, no spoiled children can reduce statist power, er, increase temperature on-millionth of a degree.
    The “dark” Trump:
“Shane Bouvet, a 23-year-old single dad, was featured in a Washington Post story highlighting his visit to D.C. to support Donald Trump’s inauguration. The paper revealed that Bouvet was headed to D.C. in a borrowed suit and donated shoes to celebrate Trump’s oath of office.”
“This is pretty much the biggest thing I’ve done in my life,” Bouvet told the paper. “I don’t get out much. I’m a small-town, blue-collar guy.” But a mere visit to Washington to see this historic day was far from the only notable thing about Bouvet’s visit, because Trump himself saw the paper’s feature on Bouvet and invited the young man to a one-on-one meeting.”
On Thursday, only a day before he took the oath of office to become the 45th president of the United States of America, Donald Trump met Mr. Bouvet, shook his hand, and offered some help. After Bouvet’s phone call back home, Trump signed autographs for the young man’s son and then came the big surprise.
As Mr. Bouvet prepared to end his historic meeting with the President-elect, Donald Trump handed him a personal check for $10,000.”
As he walked away stunned and crying, Bouvet muttered aloud, “Did that just happen?”
Yeah, both of those things just happened.
