No one will be talking about much today except the debate. FWIW (not much), here’s my take:
Clinton is a politician and her experience showed in the late game. Trump controlled the first half, but he let the attacks get to him in the second. He wasted a lot of time blathering about crap no one cares about. As the adage goes, if you’re explaining, you’re losing.
As to how it affects anything? No idea. Personally, I was a little more convinced by Trump because he’s an amateur on that stage. I didn’t expect him to be so, well, reasonable. I expected ‘crooked Hillary’ and other crap from the nomination battles. It didn’t show up.
Trump missed +a lot+ of opportunities, Clinton didn’t and that decided the debate.

Well, this is the Smirkers vrs the Workers election and aren’t these two candidates the epitome of that?
Full disclosure; I only listened to the first hour. I didn’t watch it on TV but on the computer, where I was watching reactions on the blogs I frequent. Sad, to say, even though I was not impressed with HRC’s content and stale ideas, I thought Hillary was more glib and in command. DJT seemed rather defensive, scatter shot and unprepared. I think that will be the take away for any undecided.
I keep hammering away on the theme that being a glib wonk who can cram, read and regurgitate white papers, while parroting the ideas of others is not exceptional. They are a dime a dozen. You know the type; they are the college graduate who comes into Daddy’s factory and screws things up because they are only book learned and have no idea how things actually get done or who actually does them. A certain level of intelligence matters, yes, but a wonk’s skillset or even expertise does not necessarily translate into innovative, creative, inspiring, or accomplished. In short, a wonk is not necessarily capable of leadership, vision, problem solving, weighing risks, and making good decisions, or executive ability.
So, did either candidate provide some insight into their decision making ability and judgement?
I watched all of the debate but toward the end I just muted the volume when hrc was speaking, but not before she mentioned repealing the obamacare Cadillac tax. Isn’t this the tax that directly affects the unions and their golden employee plans?
The Miss Universe was on Megan Kelly…seems Hillary failed to fact check her story…We will see how MSM plays this nonsense…Hillary lies are a legend…next debate she will eat them in real time…
I think Hillary has one short leg and she was shifting her weight bouncing up & Down…during the debate her camera shot keep moving up or down noted by the alignment of Scrip in the Background….It was annoying. I guess they could have been delaying her through a DVE (digital video Effects) in case she flat-lined.
OK, Trump won big!
One of the best comments I read before the debate read something like: ‘Donald just has to convince the viewing audience that he’s not Hitler, Hillary Clinton has to convince them that she is not Hillary Clinton.’
He did, she didn’t.
Also the negative press I suspect will, as usual, work out to Trump’s advantage. Two weeks from now (shucky darn two days) no one will remember anything Hillary said. However I think a lot of bar conversation will include tidbits such as ‘She’s had 30 years to do it, what do we have to show for it?’, ‘¿Ha conducido un Ford últimamente?’, and/or ‘Can you believe that birther thing? Heck no bit he’s got my vote.’
