    Anyone who seriously thinks this sentiment could represent real policy is seriously deluded or so far removed from the real world as to be irrelevant. It was the PC protection of Islam within the near useless bureaucracies that allowed 9-11.
    Garrisoning the entire ME, even before Russia buffered Iran and her proxies, would be a multi century endeavor that the US could not afford nor tolerate. Britain was likely the most historically successful imperial power and even they couldn’t convert India and what’s now Pakistan to Christianity. They had better success in Africa on that front, although much of that population is now Jihad fodder.
    The US military is in the business of breaking things and killing people not nation building and certainly not missionary work. Anyone heard of Separation of church and state?

Humans are just about the only ones who will kill themselves for an ideology, and of those who would do so, most are religious fanatics.
