An atheist minister in the United Church doesn’t surprise me. Ever since the mainline Christian denominations allowed leftist doctrine in, the emphasis on spirituality declined.
In centuries past, she would have been excommunicated as a heretic. Now, she was allowed to keep her job for this long because of “tolerance”.
How long before the Bible is replaced by the holy book used by a certain “religion of peace”?
Exactly. However, “How long before the Bible is replaced by the holy book used by a certain “religion of peace”?” Possible, but it would then be in competition with Karl Marx’s Das Kapital which is now the Bible of the United Church and some other churches. The United Church reminds me of Stalin’s Renovated (Orthodox) Church.

Heis Back, Milo did a great job of demolishing the CNBC talking leftist corpses.
The Government’s new online survey for commenting on bill C-51. The survey asks a lot of questions that may actually be dis-interesting to the average citizen, thereby resulting in little feedback.
I typed my slightly off topic concerns into one subject that the survey doesn’t ask a question about. http://www.publicsafety.gc.ca/cnt/cnslttns/ntnl-scrt/index-en.aspx

Goodness, it’s a dangerously slippery slope for the United Church to go down if they start imposing actual requirements for Christian belief on their clergy. There certainly is a substantial body of believing Christians in the UC, but they know who they are, and any competent manager could keep those congregations supplied with actual Christian ministers. The vast majority of UC members aren’t the least bit Christian and aren’t particularly interested in being Christian. (I myself was raised in the UC, precisely because my parents didn’t want to raise me as a Christian.) It ought to be the easiest thing in the world to find a congregation where this lady is entirely welcome.
There has to be something going on the background that they’re not willing to talk about. The atheism charge is just a pretext.
Seems that a beauty contest algorithm that prefers whites and Asians reveals the preferences of those who created it.
“The simplest explanation for biased algorithms is that the humans who create them have their own deeply entrenched biases. That means that despite perceptions that algorithms are somehow neutral and uniquely objective, they can often reproduce and amplify existing prejudices.”
Heis Back: Good link! I especially liked the facial expressions on the hosts’ faces.
Evidently, there are enough people in her congregation to keep it in existence. If they were serious about the UC’s founding doctrine, why do they still attend?
I recall someone I knew during my freshman year who was a member of the UC. At the time, she appeared to be quite devout. In the years since then, I heard that she had become quite the leftist SJW, which made me wonder just how sincere that apparent religious fervor actually was.
I shouldn’t talk. I’ve seen how the Lutheran church, at least the denomination which I believe I’m still a member of, has gone much the same way. That was one reason I haven’t attended services regularly in nearly 30 years.
Isn’t the Christian church all left wing dogma? Judaism as well?
When I was a kid I asked my mother why so many communists were Jewish. She said that once I was older and had read a little more about religion I would understand.
‘It’s easier of a camel to go through the eye of a needle that for a rich man to entre the kingdom of god’? Not an exact quote but hey – even the devil can quite scripture.
It’s hardly all left-wing. There is the Old Testament verse that says that one will eat one’s bread in the sweat of their brow and there are numerous passages that forbid many of the perverse practices that the left is very fond of promoting.
The verse you mentioned referred to someone who was more concerned about his money than his salvation.
However, it doesn’t change the fact that left-wing doctrines now permeate a once-spiritual institution.
Just try to state your own opinions clearly and concisely and refrain from misunderstanding what you think others have stated to flog your personal agenda. You’re obviously not qualified to interpret what you think others are writing.
Don’t believe everything you think, don’t forget to take your meds, …and have a nice day.
Good to see you’re posting the useful advice I gave you. There’s hope for you yet.
Unfortunately for you, you can’t use your own advise. Do you know what cognitive dissonance means?

Actually, the early Christians were frequently attacked as Communists. (Obviously not in the Marxist sense, very hard to do in the centuries before Marx.)Their custom of living in egalitarian communities and holding assets communally was regarded as challenging the authority of the Emperor to award property and set personal status.
