  12. Don’t laugh, Spud Stud just might just hold off replacing the GG until Peter Mansbridge is finished his news reader job at CBC. Has anyone ever been able to find out Perter’s salary? He’s working for us, it’s a publicly funded Corporation but for some reason his salary is never divulged.

  18. Chong never struck me as a team player, not getting my support, he seems to have an attitude, can’t put my finger on it, he’s not coming through as genuine. As for Ambrose, she was a favourite of PM Harper, I could never see her as a strong politician but no bother, she is not in the running, if she were I could not support her either. So we have some very tough work to do to choose the next leader, we need to pick a winner.

    Spectra Energy was spun off from Duke Energy. Duke Energy bought Westcoast Energy, one of the biggest pipeline companies in western Canada, nearly 15 years ago. By buying Spectra, Enbridge is returning those assets back into Canadian hands.
    If you think that’s convoluted, try figuring out what happened to the old Dome Petroleum after Amoco bought it.

  21. This move by Enbridge shows that Red Rachel’s dream of exterminating the oil industry won’t come true.
    She has succeeded in chasing investment money out of Alberta, but the companies she wants to run out of business will simply get their income from outside the province. She may try to tax them out of existence, but, if that happens, they’ll simply move their headquarters to a place which is more accommodating and re-incorporate there.
    People who actually work for these companies are the ones being hurt the most. Shareholders, however, won’t be affected as much, though they should be wary of any future stunts RR might want to pull.

It’s not really complimentary, it’s an insult and coming from the Chinese, a people known for being polite, it’s really a big insult. The fact the media are not making hay with it is telling us they also know it’s an insult.

  27. I’m surprised no one has suggested the CPC ask Ben Mulroney to run for CPC leader.
    We live in an age of celebrity worship,and the liberal Mulroney would be a perfect fit for today’s progressive Conservative Party.
    I DO hope there is someone out there in CPC -land that I haven’t heard about yet,who can take the controls of the CPC and turn it away from the Liberal-lite Party it currently is.
    That person’s first tactic must be to promise the voters anything,as long as it get ’em elected, just like those successful Liberals,and once elected, try to turn this Country away from the socialist-welfare State it’s become.
    Today’s voters don’t want a grumpy old grownup,they want to be seduced.

  28. I think Ben Mulroney has more sense than Justin Trudeau. He does not let ego go to his head and knows the limits of his abilities. He is great as a TV personality, but politics usually requires some intellectual heft.

    $37.5 billion for Spectra Energy (probably USA$. That is a bit of a uptick from the $1.5 billion in trade deals that young Turdeau crowed about in China. I had to laugh out laoud when I saw the CBC crowing away about that China ‘mega’ deal.

  33. During the past week, there have been two major deals in which Canadian companies bought American firms: auctioneer Ritchie Brothers buying IronPlanet, an online heavy equipment auction house, and now Enbridge getting Spectra.
    Both have been seen as good moves by investors as the prices of both stocks went up. Unless one read the business pages, one might not have been aware of them.
    By comparison, like you wrote, the MSM portrays PM Spud Stud’s wimpy deal with China as a major accomplishment.

    And considering the damnation that Britain was most assuredly headed for guaranteed by the Remainers, who are now concerned about the possible break-up of the EU, I wonder how this is going to play out. Add to that scenario the fact that Hillary is up to her armpits in Wall Street and the big banks, and Foundation donors then you have to wonder what would happen if there was a run on the banks in the next few weeks just prior to the American election.
