  1. The title reminds me of one of Alan Fotheringham’s books “Malice in Blunderland”.

  2. People who choose to dress and act like they did in the ‘old country’, set themselves apart in ghettos, act like arrogant victims, and refuse to integrate into Canadian society are clearly sending one message:
“We didn’t come here to become Canadians, we came here to make Canada more like our old country; you must change and accept us.”

  3. Back when we came over from Europe in the mid-1950s, immigrants knew that they weren’t in the old country. Some completely abandon the old ways. In our family, on the other hand, we worked to become Canadians but we still retained our native language and some traditions at home.
My allegiance, however, is to Her Canadian Majesty. It was sworn on my behalf when we became citizens (I was a minor then) and I swore it as an adult when I worked at a certain job.
If we who crossed an ocean and came to this country with nothing but some relatives, a few possessions, and a lot of hope and ambition can do it, why can’t those “refugees”?

  4. I was never impressed by her. I long had the sense that she was a few sandwiches short of a picnic. I guess her comments confirm that.

  5. In other words, like Chong, it appears Rona has been inflicted with the disease of political correctness.

  6. Ambrose is interim Leader of the CPC, she shouldn’t be trying to make waves by critiquing what candidates for the job are saying, members of the party are listening and will vote accordingly. Many in the party, hopefully most, agree with what Leitch said.

  7. Right, We can thank multiculturalism and the Charter for this, these are the the two entities that are working to divide us, we will not be a cohesive society. Pledging allegiance is meaningless to those who come here for a more comfortable life but care not for the country. In fact, I’d say our multicultural policies are a big draw, they are well informed of them and they will eventually make this a country that bends to all comers and stands for nothing.
I’m tired of gutless politicians who are ready to give away the farm with political correctness, failing to stand up for the country and the real values that made this country. I want Ambrose to zip it, let the candidates make their pitches, she is not in the running.

  8. Ken: I participated in Kellie Keith’s online survey and heartily agreed with and supported the premise of that question. Why in hell would we welcome anyone to this country without first screening them for negative impressions or views of Canada? If they’re not anxious to join our society – ‘join’ being the operative word – then stay the hell out. Rona Ambrose has been infected by the ‘Ottawa disease’. I don’t think her living in Stornoway has helped maintain a sense of reality, either.

  9. B’O narcissist.

  10. I agree with you about her being a few sandwiches short of a picnic, and with your previous comment about family coming to this country. I had suspected earlier that Rona had become Ottawashed. My family came in 1926 and were only too happy to leave the Russian communist utopia, become Canadians and become subjects of King George at the time.
Canuck66, so did I respond to the question the same way. Chong has disqualified himself in my mind.
Many other great comments above about this, but we risk Kate’s ire as this Reader Tips is becoming a single issue thread. Sorry Kate.

  11. i always liked shemp as much as curly…some shemp favorites are “brideless groom” and “halfwit’s holiday”, which i was told was written by moe’s wife.

  12. I did not think it was a proposal — I thought it was a question. Geeze — now we are not even allowed to survey Canadians about their views regaring immigration.
