1. I’ll bet that not many know that Venezuela was the first country certified by the WHO to have eliminated malaria in 1961. Now it is coming back with a vengeance.

   watery pits of mines, where mosquitoes infect them.
   Once they return home to recover, the disease spreads.

2. DDT was the most effective insecticide against mosquitoes. Sadly, grocers and street vendors in many parts of the world sprayed DDT on meat, vegetables and fruit (etc) and subsequently it would show up in blood tests. It had very little effect on humans, and was almost odorless.
   My nephew worked on a hydro dam in Africa in 2001, and I was quite surprised that it was still sold in stores. I believe 500 grams of powder that would make 4 US gallons of mix was about $1.00 Cdn.
   In an emergency, it could still save us from disaster.

4. In South Africa, malaria cases have decreased by 82 per cent and deaths have decreased by 71 per cent, since the year 2000 to date.
   The decrease in malaria cases has been attributed to a sound malaria vector control programme, where the country has used dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane or DDT odourless insecticide for Indoor Residual Spraying, coupled with other World Health Organisation recommended interventions.DDT is colourless, crystalline, tasteless and is used as a pesticide for insect control.
   How many Millions were killed because of a stupid book.
