  13. Can’t whip up any outrage over pot being legalized. It can’t be any more harmful than alcohol which I have seen destroy lives, health, both physical and mental and utterly decimated whole families. Our tax dollars (theoretically) could be put to much better use than hunting down people going about their business and getting baked occasionally.

  16. No, pot is here to stay, it’s being sold openly, the guise being for medical purposes so what is the holdup to making it legal across the board as Trudeau promised? Many people are opposed to the pot dispensing shacks in their neighbourhood so what is their problem if they are simply getting it to relieve pain or whatever other medical issue it’s supposed to help?

    As a reformed Pothead, I can tell you, there is no middle ground here, one is either fried or straight, there’s no “kinda” stoned, okay? Plus, dope destroys any ambition one might have to do anything whatsoever, unless its smoking more dope, eating pizza, drinking beer (!), or, sleeping. Girlfriend? Why? I’m stoned, man! Hanging with the bros!
    Pot will destroy your life, innocuously, almost kindly, different than other drugs, but don’t fool yourself, it will stunt your life. Most of those I knew were quite self-satisfied with average mediocrity, or, were off trying harder drugs, as pot just wasn’t cutting it anymore. That’s when I quit, I as sick and tired of feeling sick and tired, spaced out “stoner hangovers”, along with the side effects of longer term dope smoking, “the paranoids”, etc, which many smokers get.
    Sorry, if dope smoking was so cool and okay, most of my 50+ crowd would be doing it, but we’re not, and we all came thru the 70s and 80s when pot was cool. We’ve grown up and grown out of it, thank GOD.
    And yes, booze cause problems, but one can have a beer, even two, and not be drunk, not even close.

    About 50 years worth of International treaties of which Canada is a signatory.
    Most such treaties require a one year period to renounce the treaty and then enact a new regime.

    It would also be remiss of me to forgo mentioning that since Canada does 80% of it’s trade with the U.S., that the Americans may elect a new President who might insist that the U.S. maintains the above linked pot prohibition treaties.(after all, these treaties really only exist because of the American position on these matters)
    In that case Canadians may have every vehicle crossing into the U.S. searched for marijuana which would have a deleterious effect on trade and consequently Canadian commerce and industry.
    Whoever sets policy in the Trudeau Liberal regime(it ain’t Trudeau) knows these things.

That’s the problem, it is a dope racket and will remain that way, what passes for the Trudeau brains behind the curtain have no plan to make it legal, another way for the pot heads to get it, there will be more and more people in severe pain, could be a lot of back aches, glaucoma etc. It’s a freaking mess and it will get worse. For anyone living in Wynnes’s Ontario there may be a big there, we’re becoming worse off than a commie state, it will be in demand to keep us happy, just like cheap vodka was in Communist Russia to keep control.

  32. To be fair, the Liberal Party of Canada made it illegal at about the same time the Democrats in the U.S. made it illegal.(1930s)
    I’m pretty sure both Leftist parties did it independently, but for similar reasons.(racism)
    After WWII, the Americans created these treaties that I linked above and since the war had been good for their economy while most European nations were dependent on the Marshal Plan to claw their way back up again, they were all made to sign on.

  34. Making any thing illegal never stops the production and supply. That only ensures that prices will be ridiculously inflated and that obscene profits will go to criminals. It would be foolishly naive to assume that the criminals don’t contribute generously to the campaign funds of politicians who want to keep it illegal, for moral or religious reasons of course.

    By the way, its amazing to the see the megths that stoners will defend pot, claiming it cures cancer and all sorts of nonsense. Other than helping terminal patients with their appetites, 99& of the claims for medical usage are bogus, inflated, and exaggerated.

    In my life I have observed people that can handle weed and also those who Dan described.
    As a libertarian and a non user I support the legalization of weed. People need to be able to decide for themselves.

    If people think legalization means it’s going to be easily accessible and they can grow their own and the cost is going to come down they don’t know the Liberals. They are going to make you buy it from the government and pity the fool who doesn’t. They aren’t going to let anyone cash in on it but themselves. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if they make the penalties even harsher for those who don’t. They already started raiding the dispensaries for cutting in on their turf.
