The reaction to Bexit by some commentators, including several in Canada, has been near apocalyptic. Shock, anger and bitterness were accompanied by accusations of racism, atavistic parochialism and isolationism. The vote was greeted with withering contempt for the country’s supposedly crypto-fascist leadership and Little Englanders who were either ignorant or bigoted, or likely both.
That reaction is not respectful of a decision freely rendered by a sovereign people. To the contrary, some empathy should be extended to a country that has a deep democratic tradition and a long history of usually getting things right. Further, we need to understand the underlying reasons when the popular will goes against prevailing opinion of the political, financial and intellectual establishment.

So the Pound is down. Does that mean that the rich Brits are going to have to buy domestic cars instead of their BMWs? Does that mean that labor in the Midlands is going to become more competitive and Land Rovers and Jaguars are going to be cheaper in the US? Does that mean that affluent Brits are going to have to pay more for their overseas holidays while local British tourist trade and its workers will benefit?
The people who voted for the Brexit are getting what they wanted, and the people who voted against it are getting what they feared.
If HilLIAR wins the election;
The Canadian elites and the British ‘Remains’ can come to American Shores, or (just drive across the borders) and enjoy the same shit they are so fond of..
“A fragmented and weakened Europe would undermine global growth and create unpredictable geopolitical risks. ”
So, a globalist financial elitist get space here at SDA.
(Sarcasm on)Just wait until the West decides to separate because of the East refusing oil pipeline to foreign markets. I think it was Small Dead Animals that pointed out that Montreal gets majority of their foreign oil from a 60 year old pipeline from the States … yet refuse Western Canadian oil. tRUDEau and the LIEberals has a job on their hands if it doesn’t go through. The same rules for foreign oil do not apply to domestic oil … such as end of line “carbon footprint.”
The Reform policy was: “We do not want out, we want in.” This will not happen this time, there is very little to keep the West in with little support from the Eastern provinces. SAD (Sarcasm off)
Let the revolution begin.
The reality of Trade with the European Union by Canada is well represented in the present situation of Trade Figures. If the United Kingdom Trade with Canada is removed from the amount recorded there will be a reduction in the $$ amount of approximately 90 %.
Seems a logical position for Canada is to not only support Brexit, but to strengthen the trade opportunities with a Fuel pipe line to Canada’s East Coast and ship Canada’s ETHICAL OIL to the United Kingdom. A major win for Ordinary Citizens of both Canada and the United Kingdom.
Joe seems unaware that nothing will get done from now on unless pro EU crony capitalists
on both continents have given their assent and taken their free share of anything of value.
The Obama gang’s destruction of a large part the American coal industry now being sold off
via bankruptcy and now “awaiting rebirth” under “new low key in it for the long haul owners”
shows what a non socialist Alberta and non socialist Canada will be forced to contend with.
