  1. The Juno spacecraft entered orbit around Jupiter earlier this evening.
July 4 seems to be a favourite day for NASA vehicles.
July 4, 1997, the Mars Pathfinder landed successfully.
July 4, 1995, the Deep Impact impactor successfully collided with Comet Tempel 1, leaving a crater.
July 4, 1982, the space shuttle Columbia ended its 4th mission, the final test flight.

  2. But will the Wild Rose be willing to merge with the PCs if he becomes leader? Will the red Tories accept him?

  3. So much for the federal Liberals encouraging and supporting personal initiative, free enterprise, and capitalism.

  4. Jupiter’s bright in the western sky right now. I just had to toast Juno’s success.

  5. I can understand why Sierra Rayne writes the following. She is probably right.
“With the leadership race for the Conservative Party of Canada underway to replace former prime minister Stephen Harper, a selection of less than stellar candidates have entered the race.”
“And quite frankly, the country is better off with a Liberal P.M. than having the conservative rot given another chance to govern: 2006 through 2015 were bad enough under Harper, and the next generation could truly drive the nation into the ground.”

  6. Monday, July 4, Toronto Star. “Straight pride” is shameful?
    https://www.thestar.com/opinion/editorials/2016/07/04/heterosexual-pride-day-is-a-shameful-idea-editorial.html
Star: “#HeterosexualPrideDay is just the latest in a series of crypto-bigoted counter-movements that seek to protect privilege in the guise of promoting equality.”
Seriously? Why should minorities have all the fun?
I’m not “proud” to be straight, never have been, and I wouldn’t go to a parade for it. But I’m not about to feel guilty or “privileged” either.
Star: “As the Black Lives Matter movement has spread in recent years, calling attention to systemic racism in the United States and beyond, so, too, has the subtly racist rejoinder that ‘all lives matter.'”
Three sentences later: “Of course all lives matter.”
Well then, by your own logic, you’re racist! But “subtly”.
We hear a lot about “systemic racism”, but no one seems to want to come up with a proper definition so we can understand exactly what they’re talking about.
Plus, “Black Lives Matter” popped up after the case of the least defensible of the black shooting victims, Michael Brown in Ferguson.
Star: “Progress requires that all of us, not least the privileged, face these realities.”
Again the P-word “privilege”. There are plenty of non-privileged whites around (and plenty of successful blacks, to which we should say, “more power to them”).
But it’s about time that saying the P-word to a white person is regarded the same as saying the N-word to a black person. The goal in both cases is to induce feelings of shame, and it should be rejected.
Racism and discrimination have been on the decline for quite a while. If they completely disappeared, a lot of people would be out of a job, or at least a “cause”. Divisive editorials like this one are just trying to stir up trouble.

  7. If by chance the Jupiterians should see you toast them, it will take 33 minutes for the light to reach the gas giant, depending on the distance, as its orbit around the sun is elliptical, as is ours. At which time you will have finished your martini. I couldn’t find a song about Jupiter, however this one is close!
    https://youtu.be/M26zWFUPGpE
Imagine the sound of that song on the Delco radio of a 57 Chevy with rear speakers and a reverb!!

  8. No and no.
The PC’s are liberals and the PC’s will not pick him as their leader. He is a hated man in PC inner circles.
If the Wild Rose merge with the PC’s I will stay home on election day as will many on the right.

  9. Monday, July 4, Toronto Star. It’s two-for-one day.
    https://www.thestar.com/news/immigration/2016/07/04/ontario-facing-epidemic-of-islamophobia-survey-finds.html
Star: “There is an epidemic of Islamophobia in Ontario. Only a third of Ontarians have a positive impression of the religion …”
Not having a positive impression about Islam is not “Islamophobia”.
I don’t have a positive impression about any religion because I’m an atheist. Does that make me “anti-Semitic”, among other “phobias”?
Star: “… and more than half feel its mainstream doctrines promote violence (an anomaly compared to other religions) …”
Maybe they follow current world events, including by reading the Star.
Star: “… said the 51-page survey to be released this week by the Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants and advocacy group Mass Minority.”
So if you want objectivity, you might have to look elsewhere.
This item is currently no. 1 at Rebel Media too. That was the news outlet that disclosed the facts about this:
Star: “A woman wearing a hijab was attacked at a supermarket in London in June …”

  10. As did many Conservatives last election, and Rachel Knotley rose to victory!!
    Charma can be a bitch!!

  11. I think Gustav Holst accurately portrayed Jupiter’s majesty:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gu77Vtja30c
One can see its Galilean moons with even a spotting scope. During the course of an evening, one can see the moon Io changing position over several hours. I’ve been able to see the equatorial belts with my 100 mm reflector, though barely.
Even though one can look at pictures of those objects in books or on the Internet, to see them first-hand through a telescope is quite a thrilling experience.

  12. Seriously, Rachel Notley did win the election fair and square because of infighting between the right and the far right. Brian Jean is a total a-hole, has no personality, and comparing him to Jason Kenny is like comparing a Chevy Cruz to a Lincoln Navigator.
As for fighting among the right, the same thing is about to happen in the next USA election if they don’t wise up.

  13. What is the Trudeau cabal doing about ensuring their refugees will become successfully integrated? Have they merely dumped them in to make their promised quotas and now let the people and various organizations deal with them? Can we be assured there are none who are threats to our security? We need to remember they have been given permanent residence status and no matter what they do McCallum has declared “a Canadian is a Canadian is a Canadian” or some such blather.

  14. In my view, the Harper government did a very good job during their tenure, and it is Liberals who are running the country into the ground –economically and socially. I also do not believe the Conservative government needs any kind of purge. Sierra (maybe he’s a trans) seems to be casually spouting opinions that have no substance. I think his views reflect a lack of understanding about current Canadian politics. The Liberals are quickly ruining Canada.

  15. Kenny sounds like the right guy to me — disliked by both sides. That already establishes some common ground.

  16. Your questions are good ones. I think the Liberals have formed an alliance with the Muslim Brotherhood (just like Obama). There is a hidden agenda here. This very interesting comment(below) was posted at the Globe yesterday in conjunction with a discussion around the media seeming to focus exclusively on happy Syrian stories (this one about entrepreneurship) The comment is from MattBlom. It is very concerning. Maybe Rebel can investigate:
“My church tried to sponsor a Christian Syrian family and were told none exist (on the list). Then we tried for any non-Syrian and were told only Syrians were being processed (a great under-reported refugee story). Finally we found a Christian Syrian family through a private contact – the family told us Syrian minorities are being harassed and bullied in Jordan and Lebanon: at the camps and in the cities.”

  17. Here’s one for the “Not showing up to riot” file: Kurt Schlichter, “You Owe Them Nothing—Not Respect, Not Loyalty, Not Obedience”:
“There used to be a social contract requiring that our government treat us all equally within the scope of the Constitution and defend us, and in return we would recognize the legitimacy of its laws and defend it when in need. But that contract has been breached. We are not all equal before the law. Our constitutional rights are not being upheld. We are not being defended – hell, we normals get blamed every time some Seventh Century savage goes on a kill spree. Yet we’re still supposed to keep going along as if everything is cool, obeying the law, subsidizing the elite with our taxes, taking their abuse. We’ve been evicted by the landlord but he still wants us to pay him rent.”

  18. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3675154/Left-wing-German-politician-raped-migrants-admits-LIED-police-attackers-nationality-did-not-want-encourage-racism.html?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490
How do you say “useful idiot” in German? Here’s a social worker at a German migrant centre who was raped by 3 of the “migrants” and lied to the police about it, saying the attack was by German men, because she didn’t want to cause any racism against the migrants. Then she explains away the whole “rapefugee” phenomenon by saying it’s just those middle-eastern gentlemen reclaiming their masculinity after the “humiliation” of fleeing their own countries. What a doofus!

  19. We certainly don’t have a parliamentary democracy in Canada any more. Instead, we are ruled by a self-important, self-appointed, unaccountable aristocratic elite.
On one side, there is the moneyed class. The rest of the country is supposed to be beholden to it. It’s a polite form of feudalism.
On the other side, there are the “special interest” groups, governing by virtue of rights (not necessarily granted for legitimate reasons) and grievances (real and imaginary).
Against that, the concept of one man, one vote is completely meaningless. After all, according to that parliamentary scholar and genius Maryam Monsef, we have Twitter, so elections and referenda are irrelevant.

  20. I will vote for the christian heritage party i will never “stay home” in my opinion you are a slimy little cry baby if you pout like that. go vote for someone anyone but vote!! and i have read the christian heritage party platform and i wil no longer vote for the wild rose or the pc parties!! they are all out to lunch!!
Brian jean may be a good guy but he has the personality of a popcorn fart!

  21. Liberal Wynnetario.
