Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

RE: Bay City Rollers!
Thanks Kate! You made my day!! I’m 66 years old and I would listen to the Rollers 24-7 if they had recorded enough songs. It was a very positive and powerful beat and created what was know know as ”rollermania.” God Bless you!
Here’s another for the road!!

N-O-T S-O S-U-R-E Kate. That was P-A-I-N-F-U-L. :-(,
“Saturday Night” takes me back a lot of years, too.
It brings back memories of going for pizza and beer with my dorm mates on Friday or Saturday night when I was an undergraduate in my junior year in 1976. There were a few places we’d go to off the U of A campus and that song was often playing on the in-house stereo system. It also got a lot of airplay on 630 CHED and was a pleasant contrast to all that disco that was on the charts at the time.
Never much cared for them. Just looked them up , Cripes they are all over 60.

Well Kate, re: Bay City Rollers! I ‘ll let Dennis Leary take over:
“You’re going right to f*****g Hell! And you know what Hell is, folks. It’s Andy Gibb, singing “Shadow Dancing, for eons and eons. And you have to wear orange plaid bell bottoms and sit next to the Bay City Rollers.”
Bunch of crap, soon to be consigned to the garbage heap of history.
Now, Kate, I’ve been a fan of SDA since, well, the beginning, I suppose. But now you’re testing my loyalty. Herewith I inaugurate my unauthorized Reader Tips Antidote:
This one features the teen heart-throb David Thomas —

You’re right Greg, that’s crap-noise not music.
The Bay City Rollers made real music that will last forever.
http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/jun/23/eu-referendum-legally-binding-brexit-lisbon-cameron-sovereign-parliament
The simple answer to the question as to whether the EU referendum is legally binding is “no”. In theory, in the event of a vote to leave the EU, David Cameron, who opposes Brexit, could decide to ignore the will of the people and put the question to MPs banking on a majority deciding to remain.
This is because parliament is sovereign and referendums are generally not binding in the UK.
Bay City Blowers, Crap Djs, what else? Here, this will offend both demographics: (NSFW yet well worth checking) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3C4N6p78io

Hmmm….Bay City Rollers, or this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3GTxRt4iao&feature=related
A move afoot in GB. Not satisfied with the referendum result there is now suggestion that a 2nd vote take place – once people realize the consequence of the first vote.
Sure let’s circumvent democracy. We don’t like the result so we will keep trying until we get what we want.
That’s why that quantum computing expert, Captain Feminist, is pushing for electoral reform. If the Liberals lose, run the whole show over and over again until it finally wins.
When will Somalia introduce common sense gun control?

MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) — A suicide bomber detonated an explosives-laden vehicle at the gate of a Mogadishu hotel, followed by a second explosion heard inside the hotel as gunmen fought their way inside, police said Saturday.

The Bay City Rollers were the ultimate bad Hair band.
The Rollers were great. Hell, their fan club anthem was great:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UI5ofPLKFps
I had NO idea there were so many Bay City Rollers fans at SDA!
I always equated BCR with the early Osmond Brothers, Bee Gees, Monkees, the Back Street Boys…….
I will have to rethink my 12 years posting here and see if I can find a more compatible group over at Huffpo or one a’ them other liberal /Dipper bloggies where we can endlessly discuss Justin’s latest hair style and global warming, and Sophie’s dress and global warming, and Michelle’s great teeth and global warming,BUT love Led Zeppelin,Hendrix (Jimi, not Wanda)the ‘Stones, John Lee Hooker,Doc Watson, and Itzhak Perlman.
Yep this blog has gone to hell, goddamned bay city sissies featured, not a word on the demise of Ralph Stanley.
Ps, if you hadn’t at least acknowledged the recent demise of Merle haggard,I think I’d ‘a had ta declare jihad on Delisle, maybe all of Lesser Saskatchewan!
I’m shocked,I tell ya,shocked! Thank god for alcoholic beverages.
The biggest problem in the world today is fúcking muslimes. They don’t want to integrate, they want to conquer and convert the world to their barbaric beliefs. The ‘last straw’ for many Britons was the roving bands of muslime youth committing crimes and raping white girls, and justifying it because their barbaric religion says it’s OK to abuse and disrespect non-believers. A zero tolerance policy for immigrants is required. Commit one crime any they’re deported, no excuses, no exceptions. Enough is enough.
New American citizens no longer required to swear allegiance or defend their country:

Why not? Obama certainly isn’t loyal to the U. S. A., is he?
that the bay city rollers came out between Houses of the Holy and Physical Graffiti and anyone noticed at all is mind boggling.
OMG, what’s next; Sean Cassidy? 😉
Don, laughed out loud! Fyi, I like Merle Haggard.
Jean, bingo.
Sean Cassidy? Ouch! I cringed when he was on the charts about 40 years ago. Mind you, that was a rather tacky time for pop music. After all, it was during the peak of disco and “You Light Up My Life”.
That is the best song in the category “By or about the Bay City Rollers”.
