  1. When will the Boy Scouts and Girl Guides be abolished and replaced by the Young Pioneers?

  2. This is why the NDP must be booted in the next election. Their overhaul of the system will take 6 years and they must not be allowed to complete it.
Their union buddies have also been advocating for the elimination of funding for private and charter schools. They want you to have no choice.
These are sad times for Alberta. Some of us remember that under Social Credit we used to have an education system that was the envy of the world.

  3. This is UN Agenda 21 (now 2030) stuff. Albertans are screwed. Their once great province is being destroyed. Trudeau is pursuing the same plan. Soon you will not recognize our country.

  4. Yes, thank you, no doubt most here know what I think of this. Brainwashing of any sort is evil. Anatoly Lunarcharsky would wholeheartedly approve of this curriculum.
When the Young Pioneers graduate to post secondary education they will then be encouraged to join the Komsomol. The encouraging part of this sad state is that after seventy years of this brainwashing almost all the people of Russia threw it overboard the first chance they had. Even the KGB, successors to the black leather jacketed CHEKA, knew it was a farce and positioned themselves to reap the economic benefits when the Utopia fell.

No doubt Alberta will do it better.
Heaven knows more than enough teachers have the required ideological mindset. Just ask my grandchildren and son-in-law Grade 6 teacher and my post-secondary college prof sis-in-law.

  5. Never Done Paying.
    Non Democratic Priesthood.
    Must indoctrinate.
If the general public regard our policies as idiotic nonsense, we will “educate them” until they agree.
    A tax on all do-gooders.
We need to recognize these fools and bandits early and nip their madness in the bud.
As soon as a citizen starts advocating using other peoples money, to “solve” some imagined social evil, we must respond.
Attack them, beat them most horribly.
If they fail to learn, tax them at double their income.
If they hang around banish them.
Nothing is so destructive to civil society, than the meddling of do-gooders.
Hence the old prayer;”Dear God protect me from the help of these do-gooding..”

  6. I wonder when, and IF,the day will come when cash strapped governments realise the 1800’s model of education has to be completely demolished and started over in this new electronic age.
After a few years in the early grades, which supposedly teach the kids social skills, why can kids not learn via the internet, from home?
We could sell off the land and the baby sitting warehouses that we call schools, and have only the very best instructors lecture to the kids on the ‘net.
If,of course, the government was beholden to the teacher’s Union, we’d end up worse off than we are now, but it just seems a waste to spend all these billions on education to have out kids watch “An Inconvenient Truth”, or wander about the local Parks as the kids here are doing almost every day in the nice Spring/Summer weather.

  7. I spoke with a lovely 13 year old who is temporarily living in Turkey where her parents are teaching at a elite school. I brought her up to date on the hysteria in this country re transgender and how people in this country are being brainwashed about this issue. I said what would you think if a boy came into the girl’s washroom because that day he felt like a girl. Her response was “what about my rights?” And she is correct to say this. She also said that her young friends don’t think for themselves but just go with the trend and it’s difficult to change their thinking. Brainwashing is already happening in a big way in our schools. Just have a conversation with teachers in the system…many of whom are very left politically. My teacher friends support the “Leap Manifesto” (no longer friends) love Turdeau and comment on how finally we have better government. Look at what Wynn is doing in Ontario re sex education? The NDP agenda in Alberta no doubt fits in with the overall agenda of Turdeau’s liberal government. He wants a one party country where he is in control as the “emperor” and all subjects are brainwashed from an early age to believe he is the ultimate emperor. It’s very disturbing. But the question is what can or will be done to stop this trend…nothing I expect as Canadians are too comfortable not to mention passive.

  8. This type of brainwashing of children and re0writing of history is going on out in BC too, more focus on Indians, oops, I mean “first nations” history, whaetver that is… What better way to cast young people adrift, estrange them from their own country then a whole lot of Marxist bulls##t tribalism that the Unions can simply make up as they go. This country is run by some evil Mofo’s.

  9. I have a friend who had his kid refuse to complete a NDP propaganda homework assignment. The response from the NDP principle was to declare the child’s sibling a suicide risk which triggered a protective services investigation. Lucky for him the social worker was decent and saw through the whole thing. They actual planned to report the principle actions as being a false report. The parents have pulled all their kids form the school as the superintendent refuses to fire the principle and rumour has it they are connected to the Minister somehow.
It’s time for right to work legislation…

  10. In my freshman year over 40 years ago, I shared a room with a chap who was studying education. (It was sort of a family business for him as his father was a school principal.)
Once in a while, he started talking about some of the educational approaches that he read about. Some of them were quite outlandish, including the work of A. S. Neill.
It’s scary to think that many of those ideas are now standard educational doctrine.
I had no idea just how far gone the system was until I started teaching at a technical college. Many of the policies advocated and encouraged would make your hair stand on end and none of them are concerned about their consequences on society.

  11. The left have no morals, no pride and their only ambition is to make the proud and productive as miserable and useless as the left are. Where is the “outrage” from the likes of pipsqueak Braid or the opposition or anyone, over the millions being wasted on radio and TV ads stating that “dear leader” can change the climate of the earth. Crickets, the prosperity we all enjoyed here in Alberta, is now in boiling frog mode.

  12. “Albertans are screwed. Their once great province is being destroyed.”
True. Because just like their fellow Canadians in Ontario, they are doing nothing that will stop it.

  13. This program is fait accompli in BC. The staggering stupidity is supported by the local District Parent Advisory Councils by and large and by BCCPAC. I served on the executive for my kids for 5 years and as Ron White says, ‘you can’t fix stupid”.
As the District “numeracy coordinator” said when I asked her directly, “yes, it is common core.”
If you really want to open your eyes google “the trivium method” and learn how the children of our “betters” are schooled. Not surprisingly, you will find they are schooled in grammar, logic and rhetoric…first they learn the rules of language, then the rules of logic and finally how to communicate what they know. My kids are learning what kind of fish the natives subsisted on pre-contact and that everything is their fault.

  14. Welcome to Ontario, Alberta.
I hate to say it but I told you so. And just like Ontario, you will never ever go back to where you once were. Too many people will be brought into the entitlement culture and will fight tooth and nail if it is ever taken away from them.
Thus, it will not go back.
It took Mike Harris 8 years to try to undo just 5 years of Bob Rae and he could not do it all. He was then blamed for the austerity and the the Liberals were brought in and to be honest they are worse than Rae. People love their free stuff too much.
The Left has destroyed Ontario and it will destroy Alberta. There is NO doubt.
I feel very sorry not only for you Albertans, but for our country because I always looked to you for encouragement. You were the shining example of how to run a province and by extension how to run a country.
The sinking feeling you now have is Ontario.
    Too bad.

  15. Common core is a disaster. I once read the draft of a document prepared for, I think, late elementary school grades. It was concerned with certain aspects of thermal physics which I knew something about, having taught heat transfer and thermodynamics.
It was incomprehensible rubbish and many of the concepts, as presented, were simply wrong. How anybody was supposed to learn something from that was beyond me.
No wonder post-secondary textbooks in science and engineering are written nowadays at a level close to colouring books.

  16. I visited my grandkids on Father’s Day. My eldest grandson is graduating grade 9 at the top of his class. He can read, but not write cursive. He cannot do math problems in his head (what’s x + y / z?). While he can tell time on an analog clock, many of his classmates cannot. The argument given me by a teacher (at various times) was, everyone has a calculator, everyone types and no one has analog anything. Pathetic that we pay these lazy clowns.

  17. Ah, but the kiddies can’t tell you the significance of December 11, 1931 for Canada, but they know their rights, know what they deserve, and know that we should all plant trees and be kind to small furry animals.

  18. Yeah,
Socialist propaganda at work. Nutley and the crew must have read the collected works of Marx, Lenin and Stalin.
Your agent seem to remember from the teenage years, we had the same indoctrination.
One thing though, it has never caught on, by the time you were 18, everybody knew bullshit when they saw it.
The communists were very good in so far as schools went. We were basically taught the right stuff, however when you turned 18, that stuff could make you end up in prison.
Insofar as the Canadian socialist go, they are on track of socialist / fascist diktat.
Yeah, it boggles one’s mind that once free people accept the socialist diktat bullshit.

  19. You see, that’s the way to do it. When “progs” get a majority they take a battle axe to things … when Harper got his majority, he pissed away the 4 years by getting next to nothing accomplished, all in an effort to endear himself to his enemies.
In the end, he will go down as a massive abject failure as far as moving the conservative agenda ahead. He even had to be bullied into changing Section 13.
But oh my, when it came down to prostitutes rights and SCOC, he was all fight and muscle … what a stupid hill to die on. He got rid of the Gun Registry … finally … but couldn’t even get control of the bureaucracy that runs it … and, couldn’t get control of the RCMP in its war on gun owners. And of course, the CBC is still as strong and as viciously “progressive” as ever.
Come to think of it, he was a flop … especially after he got his cherished majority. He left the fast progressive apparatus in place for Trudeau to simply come in and take over.

  20. Good, glad this is happening. Maybe now a parent will stay home and homeschool instead of outsourcing their children’s future to the least educated.

  21. I don’t know what happened to schoolteachers since I was a boy.
In high school more than 40 years ago, I had some very good ones. My Grade 11 and 12 physics teacher had an M. Sc. in that field. The one I had for chemistry later became a member of Mensa (he was pleased to know that I was one as well).
That generation of teachers were well-informed not just about what they were teaching but other things as well.
About 30 years ago, the social circle I was associated with included some schoolteachers. I was completely disappointed with them. At the time, I read 3 daily newspapers. None of them read even one on a regular basis and they seemed proud of it.
I shudder to think about the ones the universities are turning out nowadays. I get the feeling that the only way to get an education degree is to be an leftist, intellectually bereft SJW.

  22. everyone has a calculator, everyone types and no one has analog anything
…and when the batteries die they’re stupid as a rock, and unable to do anything that doesn’t require a ‘machine’ crutch. Pathetic for sure.

  23. I completely agree with your assessment of Harper’s failure to effectively use his majority govt. I tell the CPC that every time they ask me for more money.

  24. Complain, complain, complain. You cuckservatives know where all these NDP MLAs live and you know what they look like. You can turn the NDP into a sitting government of less than five overnight using non-election means–but you’d rather take the ass-raping and complain about it.

  25. I was reminded of that 2 years ago when I offered to help some engineering students with a cubesat project they were working on. I figured that since I had lots of operating experience with satellites as a radio amateur, plus I worked in the business as an engineer many years ago, they might be interested in what I had to say.
Rather than paying attention to what I said whenever I spoke to them, the first thing they often did was to whip out their electronic brains and start looking on the Internet to see if I was right.
I guess the days of automatically believing one’s professional senior and master, someone who knows more by virtue of education and experience, are long over. He who googles rules, right?
I had only 3 meetings with someone from that group and then nothing. Whatever happens with that project is up to them. I wash my hands of it.

  26. One most irks me in this whole thing is the petty squabbling between the PCs and the Wild Rose. I barely give a hoot who ends up as leader, personally, provided they truly are a conservative and provided they have a spine to show the same level of aggression to the regressive left as the left shows to everyone else. I agree with the comment above about Harper pissing away his majority. His first act should have been to cut loose the CBC from the taxpayer’s teat, thereby effectively terminating it, and going from there. Nutley and her crew are taking a wrecking ball to the Alberta economy in the name of ideology. Alberta may get Kate’s famine sooner rather than later. Unfortunately the indoctrination system will have so dummed down the sheep, they’ll be unable to recognize the cause by the time it happens.

  27. Red Rachel couldn’t care less about the devastation she’s already caused. She can get away with it because she has the backing on the public service unions.
Why, for example, should the teachers worry about the proletariat when they know they’ll live high on the hog when they can retire with a nice fat government pension?

  28. Education is far too important to be in the hands of the state, particularly now that teachers unions are an integral and partisan component of the political left. Having the state involved is so much of citizen’s lives makes the spoils of election victory essentially an act of war against many of the people the government is supposedly working for. Conservatives are as guilty as liberals and the NDP as they all seem to agree on growing leviathan in all directions, differing only on the rate of growth.
The priorities of Notley’s new curriculum is what one would expect of a society intent on cultural and economic suicide.

  29. never overestimate or underestimate the stupidity of the average Canadian voter. They all want something for nothing and won’t stop until there is NOTHING left.

  30. PC’s have not been conservative since they fired Dr. Steve West. Even Don Braid know this – “Hancock is more progressive than some New Democrats. So is Thomas Lukaszuk, his successor as education minister.” Hancock – PC Premier of Alberta. Lukaszuk – PC leadership candidate.

  31. “He can read, but not write cursive.”
As lovely as handwriting can be (when properly executed), I don’t even use cursive myself anymore with the single exception of my signature – which in any event is more of a dramatic flourish.
On the rare occasions I do write rather than type something (i.e., a Post-It note or card), I hand-print the text.

  32. If you have a problem with schools then run for the School Board. They tend to attract SJW and unionists so a practical board could start to affect some responsibility. Next run for City or Town Councillor and push back against the lefties there now. There are also a lot of boards and commissions that need an injection of common sense. For some time now the lesser elected positions have been seen as training grounds for SJWs while conservatives seem to think that running for the legislature is all that is important. I don’t mean this as an insult but taking back the province is a multi-step process. Kudos for those that are in the trenches already, but they need help.
