Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

FORT MCMURRAY, Alta. – RCMP have seized some guns following the fire in Fort McMurray, but won’t be a conducting a mass seizure of firearms like they did after the flood in southern Alberta.
Sgt. John Spaans said Tuesday that officers have taken one or two guns found in public places, but are not going into homes looking for more.
He said he’s not sure if the decision had anything to do with what happened in High River during the floods.
“That’s a decision that came through our unified command. I don’t know the rationale.”
Flood water forced thousands of people from their homes in High River in June 2013. As Mounties searched for people who were stranded in the town, they kicked in doors and took firearms.

I want to share a well written letter that’s going around on email regarding Earls. I think when this controversy erupted most thought it was a marketing ploy to appease the hipsters. It was…and more.
**Dear Mr. Snider,
I have received the Earl’s gift card for $35.00 as compensation for the consistently-disappointing experience I endured at your restaurant in Red Deer on April 3rd; however, in light of the decision by Earl’s senior management to purchase their beef from an American supplier, I will not patronize either your restaurant or any other Earl’s franchises now or in the future and will be pleased to return the gift card. Quite simply, Mr. Snider, there are alternatives – restaurants which support Canadian producers in return for my Canadian dollars.
I am not alone in my decision to delete Earl’s restaurants from the list of those I prefer to patronize. Everyone with whom I have spoken regarding this decision concurs.
Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba are renowned for the quality of the beef produced in the western Canadian provinces and it is exported around the world for good reason. Buyers from all over North America and indeed the world are prominent not only at the Calgary Spring Bull Sale but at bull sales throughout the province of Alberta simply because of the quality of our beef herd. There are beef producers in this country who diligently practise the art and science of raising organic beef free of steroids and antibiotics; in fact, such products are banned from both beef and dairy cattle in this country.
Why then would one purchase American beef? Very simply, the CEO of the Earl’s chain, Mr. Mohammed Jessa, is Muslim and the source of the beef which will now be offered throughout the chain is Creekstone Farms in Kansas where it is slaughtered in such a fashion that it may be sold to consumers both in the Middle East and in restaurants catering to a Muslim clientele. In short, it is Halal-approved. I have viewed the Creekstone Farms website and learned that in fact their slaughterhouse began as an opportunity to sell beef to such Islamic countries as Saudi Arabia. Their website states that all those employed in the slaughterhouse are Muslim and trained to slaughter cattle in a manner consistent with the Islamic religion. Their website further states that the cattle are not killed instantly but are stunned such that they are alive with their hearts still beating for five minutes before their throats are slit so that they then bleed to death. This method of slaughter is promoted by your restaurant chain as “humane,” and Mr. Jessa has stated that from this point on all beef offered for sale in an Earl’s restaurant will be sourced from slaughterhouses designated as ensuring such a “humane” method of slaughter. In fact, Mr. Snider, this is not about a so-called “humane” method of slaughter but about a decision made by your Muslim CEO to serve beef at Earl’s restaurants which has come from an Halal-approved slaughterhouse which is Muslim-owned and operated.
There are many beef producers in this province and indeed this country who do everything to ensure their cattle are raised in a manner consistent with organic-farming guidelines. But that is not the point, is it? Of course not. It is all about patronizing a Muslim-owned and operated, Halal-approved slaughterhouse which markets its beef as acceptable to those of the Islamic faith.
My ancestors on my father’s side came to Canada from Scotland to lead British troops in the War of 1812; my mother’s ancestors immigrated from Scotland in 1837 and as Christians we do not require that our meat be produced by Halal-approved slaughterhouses nor do the majority of Canadians. The sourcing of beef served in Earls’ restaurants has nothing to do with a so-called “humane” method of slaughter which in fact it is not; it has everything to do with a decision by Mr. Mohammed Jessa, CEO, Earls’ restaurants, to cater to the Muslim segment of the Canadian population. It is hypocritical to say otherwise. In fact, it is deceitful and dishonest. It is nothing but a marketing ploy designed to enrich a Muslim-owned and operated Halal-approved slaughterhouse in Kansas.
Our province’s economy has suffered enormous losses because of a glut on the world’s oil markets largely due to the inflated production quotas of Islamic countries. Tens of thousands of Albertans are unemployed as a result, yet the senior management of the corporation for which you work would now have us purchase imported beef initially designed to satisfy the faith-based dietary requirements of those same countries resulting in an additional negative impact upon the economy of western Canada. At current exchange rates, and regardless of any other factor, serving beef imported from the United States into one of the great beef-producing regions of the world makes no economic sense.
Well, Mr. Snider, I will do all in my power to ensure that no one of my acquaintance will ever patronise an Earl’s restaurant and bar again. And speaking of hypocrisy, the consumption of alcohol is forbidden by the Muslim faith. If Mr. Jessa is so faithful to his beliefs as to require that all beef served in his corporation’s restaurants come from Halal-approved slaughterhouses, it is only a matter of time before he will decree that alcohol will no longer be offered for sale in any Earls’ restaurant. How could he possibly do otherwise?
Enjoy your management position while it lasts, Mr. Snider. There soon may be nothing to manage.
Regards,
Donald**

The media is deliberately hiding her shout-out “Right Tim” included in the above clip
The original clips by CNN & FOX Media edit/cut out her “shout out” after her above statement…”Right Tim”. The added power of her shout out, like GW Bush’s shout out to “Brownie” (Fema) was pushed by the media until Brownie resigned, is an important fact.
Who is TIM? What role does he play in Hillary’s Coal policy?
At a rally in California, Trump brought on stage family members of people who are no longer alive because of undocumented migrants. Has this man no shame?!
Re: The Eve of Destruction.
I remember going to Montana bars across the 49th on Sunday afternoons, and getting into wild arguments about the Vietnam War. Of course we were not formally involved in the war, and we did harbour draft dodgers and deserters, thanks to the Liberals in Ottawa. . However few people knew that over 30,000 Canadians served in Vietnam as volunteer combattants. Add to that medical, technical and yes, chemical technicians (think agent orange) and the number of Canadians who served in the war was probably more than the number of military personnel we have today. We also manufactured berets, boots, ammo, aircraft engines, tires, food etc. etc. that amounted to over 12.5 billion Cdn $$$.
Ironically, most of what we sold to the USA is now being made in China, who were then supplying the enemy with guns and ammo etc. This was my favorite Vietnam era song, especially on a Wurlitzer Jukebox with stereo speakers.

Kathleen Wynne stood on the graves of people killed by government workers – and promised more government in Walkerton Ontario.
Obviously you’re only trolling, maybe you’re serious, whatever. It is well known that progressives don’t give a crap about people who are killed by government incompetence, progressives immediately forgive themselves because they lie to themselves and say their intentions were good.
Stanley Kubrick used part of that song at the beginning of his movie “Full Metal Jacket”.
Another package of Liberal BS by the Globe and Mail. Where did Mr. Harper or any Conservative ever say that they wanted to end the census??

Britain risks “flames” of racial and religious conflict because of a “liberal self-delusion” over the impact of mass immigration, the former head of the equality watchdog Trevor Phillips claims today.
In a startling assault on decades of official multiculturalism and diversity policy, the founding chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission argues the UK is being allowed to “sleepwalk to catastrophe” by leaders too “touchy”, “smug”, “complacent” and “squeamish” to talk about race.

I don’t know if he has any shame. But that is one thing about which he shouldn’t have any. An infamous U.S. President once said, “get in their faces”, though he certainly didn’t mean that anyone should confront progressives with the consequences of their stupid ideas, making them face reality is for their own good.

Hillary the Hag wants america to copy the australian blunder and confiscate all privatly owned guns like most all liberals and demacrats like all typical socialists(Nazis and Commies both)they disarm the citizens then round them up and send them all to concentration camps and gulags after all Hitler and Stalin did it
Boots…excellent letter!!! I am 58, and have not hunted for 10 years, but I know I could pick up old-faithful and down a deer, moose, bear, etc in one shot, and it would be dead before it hit the ground. Because I know where to aim for the quickest, cleanest kill. Next step, cut its throat.People (read SPCA etc animal rightests) think this is to get the blood out. True. But more importantly it is to rid the meat of all the stress hormones produced by being hunted/shot as quickly as possible,so they do NOT toughen up the meat. My grandfather ran a slaughterhouse back in the late 60’s. Any animal that came in and was not dispatched and in the process of being cut up within 20 seconds, was put aside for processing into pet food. Every….EVERY….consumer who picks up their six-pack of pork chops should be required to show a certificate saying they have visited a slaughter house to see where their supper came from. (Oh wait. Would that increase the number of granola crunchers?)
A couple of good “anti-mandatory census” letters in the Post today. In particular, one from Steve Locke highlights how antiquated this process is. Many Western countries have abandoned a long-form census as a useful way of collecting date. Germany’s last census was in 1987!! He asks: “The rest of the world has realized that technology can provide a huge amount of information. Why can’t we figure this out?”
This is an EXCELLENT question, and the reason we can’t figure this out is because we have set up a number of left-vs.-right issues as political symbols. Completely pointless and counterproductive. Too many people have been deluded into thinking that leftism is the “moral high ground” which is completely delusional. I bet that most of the complainers about the census never use the data. I think the real driver (in objecting to the change to the household survey) are profs in universities and colleges who do not want to change their ancient assignments on statistics gathering! The census is invariably 4 years out of date, so how can that be useful for planning??
Unfortunately (and foolishly) there is a tendency among pundits and leftist noisemakers (Lead Now, etc.) to take being leftist as a point of pride. I think some people perceive leftism as making us superior to Americans. Unfortunately, it is really holding us back on common sense and in the end halting progress on things like updating how we collect data.
Two letters, both good reads, Lock’s is the second one: http://news.nationalpost.com/full-comment/letters-demanding-personal-information-from-individuals-under-force-of-law-is-unconscionable
That piece easily pertains to Canada as well. Everyone should read it. The expression ” liberal self-delusion” is particularly apt. The media is working hard to hide anything negative happening with respect to recent refugees (e.g., the bullying by kids in Nova Scotia, cancellation of sports programs, etc.), while continuing to push “happy Syrian” stories. I am not opposed to the happy Syrian stories, but it is not useful if there is no balance in reporting. Balanced reporting helps reinforce the notion of honesty in the media. One-sided reporting does just the opposite. Worse — cover ups and squelching free speech simply fuel bigotry, rather than the reverse. The Globe comments, for example, seem to censor anything regarding Muslims that attempts to address real issues directly. We are not allowed any public dialogue about refugee issues that may be emerging. Surely that is a recipe for increasing problems, rather than nipping them in the bud. Censorship fuels anger.
So is it safe to say there was no blood ‘coagulating’ at your Gramp’s slaughterhouse?

Relax, the Liberals are still leading by a huge margin in all the polls owned by a Liberal supporter.
If we just study everything, then we don’t have to be accountable, well after we extinguish accountability.
My bet is against them pulling this one off. PR sucks primarily because it erodes local representation, with members chosen from party lists, and not necessarily the most votes (not BS second choices which somehow veto the first choice), so not necessarily the same party. This is “more democratic?”
The intellectual laziness accompanying this idea is on dazzling display by the Grits and their low info compatriots. Would they like to have 50 less MPs right now? How about next time?
“Liberals want “exhaustive”, “inclusive” electoral reform, but no referendum thanks.”
“FPTP ‘has been criticized for the tendency to distort the will of the electorate, to lead to strategic voting…and as a result we’ve seen an erosion of the confidence of Canadians in the electoral system.’ ”
Maybe lying politicians have helped to erode confidence with their irresponsible governance.

Interesting case:
“A British Columbia mother and father who were convicted of assault after spanking their 14-year-old daughter with a plastic hockey stick and skipping rope have been given a conditional discharge. The couple from Salmon Arm, B.C. was convicted earlier this year after admitting to striking their daughter after learning the teen had sent nude photos of herself to a young man online. When the girl went to school with lacerations and bruises, her friends told school administrators, who called RCMP.”

You’re welcome.
R. Lee Ermey’s played similar roles in a number of movies. He was a drill instructor in “The Boys in Company C”, a helicopter pilot in “Apocalype Now”, and a Marine infantryman in “Purple Hearts” and “The Seige of Firebase Gloria”.
Another actor with a similar background is Dale Dye, who might be best known for playing a U. S. Army captain in “Platoon”.

An Air Force whistleblower says his team could have provided reinforcements to the Americans under attack in Benghazi in September 2012, contrary to the Obama administration’s claims that the military provided the maximum possible support for the embattled diplomatic staff.
“I definitely believe that our aircraft could have taken off and got there in a timely manner, maybe three hours at the most, in order to basically at least stop that second mortar attack and have those guys running for the hills,” a man purportedly stationed at Aviano Air Force base in Italy told Fox News on the condition of anonymity.
That’s a particularly explosive claim, given that two of the four Americans who died in the attacks were killed in the second wave of attacks, which targeted a CIA annex the morning of Sept. 12. But the whistleblower has not spoken to Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., who is chairman of the select committee investigating the attacks, because “there are so many ways you can get screwed over” for cooperating with lawmakers.
And I definitely believe this man is correct. However, our Secretary of State at the time was busy getting her beauty sleep; conjuring up ways to place the blame on others.
